The recent crisis was unusual in its speed and breadth and the type of countries affected. Systemic crises, situations of significant stress in the financial sector, followed by significant policy interventions, often affect several countries at the same time. In the past, though, crises have been largely limited to specific regions or types of economies, the Nordic countries in the early 1990s, Latin America in the mid-1990s, Asia in the late 1990s, and the emerging market economies of the early 2000s. The recent crisis has been unusual in its global nature, affecting countries with a speed and virulence not seen since the Great Depression, with major advance countries and countries recently integrating with the European Union (EU) most affected.

There are 18 km of Kunming–Bangkok Highway passing through the Mengyang nature Reserve of Xishuangbanna National nature Reserve in Yunnan Province,*** September 2005 to September 2006 the impact of this highway on movement of wild Asian elephants between the eastern and western part of the nature reserve was studied using track transecting,rural surveys and direct *** results showed that the number of cross-road corridors used by Asian elephants diminished from 28 to 23 following the construction of the *** some areas,the elephant activity diminished or even disappeared,which indicated a change in their home *** utilization rate of artificial corridors was 44%.We also found that elephants prefered artificial corridors that were placed along their original *** the research,wild elephants revealed their adaptation to the *** were found walking across the highway road surface many times and for different *** suggest that the highway management bureau should revise their management strategies to mitigate the potential risks caused by elephants on the road for the safety of the public and to protect this endangered species from *** is also very important to protect and maintain current Asian elephants corridors in this region.

AIM:To analyze the epidermal growth factor receptor pathway substrate 8(EPS8) expression status and role in colorectal carcinogenesis given that EPS8 has a conserved actin barbed-end capping function that is required for proper maturation in intestinal ***:We studied 8 colon cancer cell lines and 58 colorectal tumors(19 adenomas and 39 carcinomas).We performed expression microarray analysis of colon cancer cell lines followed by loss of heterozygosity(LOH)analysis and immunohistochemistry for EPS8 expression in colon ***,we performed mutation analysis by direct sequencing and methylation analysis by bisulfite sequencing and methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction ***:Expression microarray analysis of colon cancer cell lines showed overexpression of EPS8 transcript in all lines but *** wide loss of heterozygosity(LOH) analysis of colon tumors,showed considerable LOH at the EPS8 gene ***,EPS8 was constitutively expressed in normal colonic mucosa with a dot-like supranuclear localization with accentuation at the luminal surface supporting its proposed role in epithelial *** colon tumors(4 adenoma,15 carcinoma) out of 51(37%) showed strikingly tumor specific EPS8 protein *** the remaining tumors,5/51(2 adenoma,and 3 carcinoma,10%) showed marked overexpression,while 27/51 tumors(53%) showed retained *** analysis revealed a missense mutation(c.794C>T,p.R265C) in exon 8 in *** EPS8 promoter was also methylated in RKO,but there was no significant methylation in other cell lines or carcinoma ***:The loss of EPS8 expression in colorectal adenomas and carcinomas suggests that down regulation of this gene contributes to the development of a subset of colorectal cancers,a finding which could have applications in diagnosis and treatment.

广阔的当曲湿地(N32°54’,E94°08’)位于青海省杂多县境内,海拔4700 m。该湿地为一狭长区域,最大长度150 km、最大宽度60 km,由散布在蒿草和苔草草甸中的数千个池潭组成,池潭下为永久冻土层。湿地与当曲河上游交叉,该河流为黄河提供了最大的水源供给。由于地域偏僻,当曲湿地鲜有研究,虽然有关黑颈鹤(Grus nigricollis)的文献不断涌出,但并无关于该地黑颈鹤的记录。作者于2011年7月、2012年4月和2012年7月,对当曲湿地东部的局部进行了调查,3次分别记录到黑颈鹤4只、45只和14只。值得注意的是,2012年7月的调查中观察到3对繁殖黑颈鹤,并且分别带有出壳不久的2只幼鹤。尽管黑颈鹤在当曲湿地分布非常分散,该湿地仍是一个重要的黑颈鹤分布点和繁殖区。每年11月初至次年的5月初,当曲湿地都处于冰冻状态。随着区域温度的上升,每年的冰冻期将缩短,将可能导致黑颈鹤喜好的生境的扩增和黑颈鹤种群数量的增长。在该湿地还记录到5种哺乳动物和其他21种鸟类。基于当曲湿地黑颈鹤的种群数量,该湿地已具备认定为国际重要湿地的第二条标准。

Evaluation of empirical estimation of uniaxial compressive strength of rock using measurements from index and physical tests

The uniaxial compressive strength(UCS) of rock is an important parameter required for design and analysis of rock structures,and rock mass *** compression test is the direct method to obtain the UCS ***,these tests are generally tedious,time-consuming,expensive,and sometimes impossible to perform due to difficult rock ***,several empirical equations have been developed to estimate the UCS from results of index and physical tests of ***,numerous empirical models available in the literature often make it difficult for mining engineers to decide which empirical equation provides the most reliable estimate of *** study evaluates estimation of UCS of rocks from several empirical *** study uses data of point load strength(Is(50)),Schmidt rebound hardness(SRH),block punch index(BPI),effective porosity(n) and density(ρ)as inputs to empirically estimate the *** estimated UCS values from empirical equations are compared with experimentally obtained or measured UCS values,using statistical *** shows that the reliability of UCS estimated from empirical equations depends on the quality of data used to develop the equations,type of input data used in the equations,and the quality of input data from index or physical *** results show that the point load strength(Is(50)) is the most reliable index for estimating UCS among the five types of tests *** of type-specific nature of rock,restricting the use of empirical equations to the similar rock types for which they are developed is one of the measures to ensure satisfactory prediction performance of empirical equations.
