Major Soil Chemical Properties of the Major Tea-Growing Areas in India

Major chemical properties of tea-growing soils are of paramount importance for better management in a sustainable ***,this study was carried out to understand the major soil chemical properties of major tea(Camellia sinensis L.)-growing areas,Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts,in the state of Assam,India.A total of 991 surface soil samples were collected from 15 large tea estates(TEs) for analysis of their major chemical *** pH ranged from 3.61 to *** organic carbon and total nitrogen ranged from 2.4 to 47.3 and 0.24 to 3.60 g kg^(-1),*** soils were sufficiently rich in plant-available potassium(as K_2O),which ranged from 127.71 to 252.33 mg kg^(-1),exceeding the amount prescribed for optimum tea yield of > 100 mg kg^(-1).Plant-available sulfur among soil samples widely varied from 4 to 129 mg kg^(-1).Results of hierarchical clustering analysis for homogenous grouping of the 15 TEs based on soil chemical properties showed that the 15 TEs could be classified into three distinct groups which consisted of6,8 and 1 TEs,*** on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) test,the best fitted theoretical probability distributions were found out for different soil chemical *** could be concluded that a balanced fertilizer application would be needed as a part of tea improvement program using soil chemical test.

Background: Nurses can often be key frontline healthcare professionals working in remote and rural settings due to resource constraints including an acute shortage of medical practitioners. The provision of regular and appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to support nurses to be able to provide effective health care therefore becomes even more significant in these settings. Engagement and “buy in” from relevant stakeholders at an organisational level is a critical step to ensure CPD provision for nurses. Objectives: The overall aim was to achieve consensus on CPD for registered nurses working in remote and rural settings among key stakeholders using the Nominal Group Technique (NGT). The objectives were to identify stakeholders’ perspectives on the priorities for CPD training for registered nurses;the preferred modes of delivery for CPD and perceived barriers and facilitators for CPD access. Methods: NGT was used as a qualitative method with key organisational stakeholders in several iterative stages in the form of a workshop. Results: 22 senior healthcare professionals involved in medical and nursing education representing north, northeast, central India and the state of Karnataka in South India participated in the workshop. Three key findings emerged from this study: priorities of CPD;preferred modes of CPD delivery;barriers and facilitators to CPD access. Conclusion: Engagement with key stakeholders to identify CPD priorities can help facilitate strategic planning and provision of relevant and accessible CPD programmes for nurses working within remote and rural health care contexts in India.

Background:India is a major contributor to the global burden of leprosy and tuberculosis(TB),which adversely affects the poorest tribal *** prioritisation by disease control programmes,programme performance for leprosy and TB in tribal communities continues to be a *** addition to access to services and infrastructural limitations,socio-cultural concepts of illness causation and related help seeking(HS)rooted in distinct features of tribal culture need to be addressed to improve programme ***:A cultural epidemiological survey of leprosy and TB patients was carried out using a locally adapted,semi-structured explanatory model interviews.A total of 100 leprosy and 50 TB patients registered for treatment at government health facilities were selected randomly from tribal dominant blocks of the Thane district,Maharashtra *** perceived causes(PCs)of leprosy and TB in patients were compared based on prominence *** relationship between PCs as predictors,and disease conditions and HS preferences as outcome variables were assessed using multivariate logistic ***:In the multivariate logistic regression model with disease conditions as outcome variables,TB patients were significantly more likely to report PCs in the categories of ingestion;health,illness and injury;and traditional,cultural and *** patients more frequently first sought help from private facilities as compared to leprosy patients who preferred government health *** a combined analysis of leprosy and TB patients employing multivariate logistic regression,it was found that patients who reported PCs in the environmental and contact-related categories were more likely to visit traditional rather than non-traditional *** another multivariate combined model,it was found that patients who reported PCs in the traditional,cultural and supernatural category were significantly more likely to visit private rathe
