Air pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats to human *** 2005,the world health organization(WHO)released its first global air quality guidelines(AQGs)for particulate matter(PM),ozone(O3),nitrogen dioxide(NO2),and sulfur dioxide.[1]On September 22,2021,the WHO updated its AQGs,providing clear evidence of the adverse health effects of air pollution,at even lower concentrations than previously understood.[2]For instance,the WHO AQGs 2021 recommend annual mean concentrations of PM2.5 not exceeding 5μg/m3 and NO2 not exceeding 10μg/m3 and the peak season mean 8-h O3 concentration not exceeding 60μg/m.[2,3]As a comparison,the corresponding WHO AQGs 2005 values were 10μg/m3 for PM2.5 and 40μg/m3 for NO2,with no recommendation for long-term O3 concentrations.

*** As one of the milestone documents on global air quality management,the world health organization(WHO)health guidelines have been periodically adopted and published air quality guidelines(AQGs)following systematic reviews on evidence from medical and public health studies,and through extensive expert panel discussion and *** 1987,WHO has periodically issued health-based air quality guidelines—Air Quality Guidelines for Europe(hereafter referred to as“AQGs(1987)”)to assist governments and civil society to reduce human exposure to air pollution and its adverse effects.1 In 2006,a global edition of the updated AQGs—WHO Air Quality Guidelines Global Update 2005(hereafter referred to as“AQGs(2005)”)was released.2 With increasing evidence on air pollution attributed heath risk and adverse effects,the global air quality guidelines were further updated and accomplished in 2021.2-3 AQGs(1987)provided health-based guideline levels for the major air pollutants,including carbon monoxide(CO),lead,nitrogen dioxide(NO2),ozone(O3),sulfur dioxide(SO2)and total suspended particulate(TSP)***,in AQGs(2005),TSP was then replaced by particulate matter(PM)with aerodynamic dimeter less than 2.5µm(PM2.5)and PM with aerodynamic dimeter equal or less than 10µm,albeit without the provision of numerical guideline values.2 In each edition of the guidelines,air quality criteria values have been derived for recommendations protecting human populations from the adverse impacts of air pollution exposure,and guidelines are of significant importance for low-and middle-income countries(LMICs)in reducing air pollution exposure and resulting in beneficial impacts on health.

Background:Recent studies have shown that early antiretroviral therapy(ART)initiation results in significant HIV transmission *** is the rationale behind the“test and treat”policy of the world health organization(WHO).Implementation of this policy will lead to an increased incidence of ART-related adverse effects,especially in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA).Is the region yet ready to cope with such a challenging issue?Main body:The introduction and widespread use of ART have drastically changed the natural history of HIV/AIDS,but exposure to ART leads to serious medication-related adverse effects mainly explained by mitochondrial toxicities,and the situation will get worse in the near ***,ART is associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease,lipodystrophy,prediabetes and overt diabetes,insulin resistance and hyperlactatemia/lactic *** prevalence of these disorders is already high in SSA,and the situation will be exacerbated by the implementation of the new WHO *** SSA countries are characterized by(extreme)poverty,very weak health systems,inadequate and low quality of health services,inaccessibility to existing health facilities,lack of(qualified)health personnel,lack of adequate equipment,inaccessibility and unaffordability of medicines,and heavy workload in a context of a double burden of ***,there is dearth of data on the incidence and predictive factors of ART-related adverse effects in SSA,to anticipate on strategies that should be put in place to prevent the occurrence of these conditions or properly estimate the upcoming burden and prepare an adequate response *** are required if we are to anticipate and effectively prevent this upcoming ***:While SSA would be the first region to experience the huge benefits of implementing the“test and treat”policy of the WHO,the region is not yet prepared to manage the consequential increased burden of ART-related toxic and

INTRODUCTION Gestational diabetes mellitus （GDM） was earlier defined as ＂hyperglycemia first recognized during pregnancy＂ and has more recently been described by American Diabetes Association （ADA）（2012） as diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that is not clearly overt diabetes. The hyperglycemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes study （HAPO） demonstrated that the risk of adverse maternal,fetal,and neonatal outcomes continuously increase as a function of maternal glycemia at 24-28 weeks,even within ranges previously considered normal for pregnancy.

Assessing intersectional gender analysis in Nepal’s health management information system: a case study on tuberculosis for inclusive health systems

Background Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem in Nepal, high in settings marked by prevalent gender and social inequities. Various social stratifiers intersect, either privileging or oppressing individuals based on their characteristics and contexts, thereby increasing risks, vulnerabilities and marganilisation associated with TB. This study aimed to assess the inclusiveness of gender and other social stratifiers in key health related national policies and the health Management Information System (HMIS) of National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) by conducting an intersectional analysis of TB cases recorded via *** A desk review of key policies and the NTP’s HMIS was conducted. Retrospective intersectional analysis utilized two secondary data sources: annual NTP report (2017–2021) and records of 628 TB cases via HMIS 6.5 from two TB centres (2017/18–2018/19). Chi-square test and multi-variate analysis was used to assess the association between social stratifers and types of TB, registration category and treatment *** Gender, social inclusion and concept of intersectionality are incorporated into various health policies and strategies but lack effective implementation. NTP has initiated the collection of age, sex, ethnicity and location data since 2014/15 through the HMIS. However, only age and sex disaggregated data are routinely reported, leaving recorded social stratifiers of TB patients static without analysis and dissemination. Furthermore, findings from the intersectional analysis using TB secondary data, showed that male more than 25 years exhibited higher odds [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 4.95, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.60–19.06,P = 0.01)] of successful outcome compared to male TB patients less than 25 years. Similarly, sex was significantly associated with types of TB (P < 0.05) whereas both age (P < 0.05) and sex (P < 0.05) were significantly associated with patient registration category (old/new cases).Conclusio

A descriptive study on assessment of medicines cold chain storage conformity with world health organization (WHO) requirements in public health facilities was carried out in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma regions. Storage conformity in selected health facilities was assessed by monitoring temperature using temperature data loggers mounted in the refrigerators for a period of 30 days. Results indicated almost half of the health facilities 48.5% visited, did not significantly (P = 0.031) comply with storage temperature (+2°C to +8°C) as per WHO requirement because all recorded Mean Kinetic temperature (MKT) > 8°C. In rural areas, 59.2% of visited health facilities adhered to the WHO recommended storage temperature while in urban areas only 31.6% complied. The study has established electricity failure in urban and lack of gas in rural areas coupled with absence of contingency plan as major challenges to WHO temperature conformity in storage of cold chain medicines in health facilities in Tanzania.
