In recent years, Alzheimer’s disease has been clearly linked to the degradation of microtubules and microtubule-associated tau (τ) and β-amyloid (βA) proteins. Through an examination and evaluation of current literature, we assess the possible effects of the steroid hormones on τ hyperphosphorylation and the regulation of βA proteins and their influence on Alzheimer’s dementia and memory loss. We present a mechanism by which Alzheimer’s cases may be reduced or perhaps even prevented through the use of non-synthetic, steroid hormones prescribed in a cyclic dosing schedule that mimics the rhythmic, escalating and descending production normally observed in a reproductive female body. Given the ability of estrogen to prevent τ hyperphosphorylation and increase metabolism of the βA precursor protein, we propose the possibility of controlling both protein cycles through the exogenous application of estrogen and progesterone may help those patients with active disease as well as prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.

开发能够发射多色荧光的水凝胶为解决信息泄漏和敏感数据失真等问题提供了一条有希望的途径.将多因素诱导可调荧光与水凝胶中独特的上临界溶液温度(UCST)行为相结合,有助于开发既能动态显示信息,又能提供高水平信息安全与保护的多维和多级信息存储材料.然而,将这些优势特性融合到水凝胶中,并用于信息存储和显示仍然是一个相当大的挑战.在此背景下,我们通过光固化3D打印技术—一种可持续的和高效的材料制造方法,制备了一种新型三维荧光编码水凝胶阵列.该阵列结合了上述特性,并且需要两个不同步骤依次解密隐藏的信息,也即:i)温度诱导的相变,以及ii)紫外光和温度在特定条件下(即特定的紫外光照射时长、加热时长和辐照波长)触发的多色荧光.这些水凝胶具有可逆透明性和可编程荧光发射特性,有望显著增强信息加密和防伪过程.这一进步有望为信息安全领域带来革命性变化.

A new binuclear complex [Ni2（2,2＇-bpy）2（C8H3NO6）2（H2O）4] 1 （2,2＇-bpy = 2,2＇- bipyridine, C8H3NO6 = 4-nitrophthalate） has been synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction and characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. The complex crystallizes in triclinic, space group P1 with a = 7.206（2）, b = 10.337（4）, c = 12.480（4） , α = 89.887（11）, β = 77.033（9）, γ = 78.349（6）o, V = 886.3（5） 3, Z = 1, C36H30Ni2N6O16, Mr = 920.08, Dc = 1.724 g cm-3, F（000） = 472, μ = 1.152 mm-1, the final R = 0.0458 and wR = 0.1163 for 3372 observed reflections with I 2σ（Ⅰ）. The two Ni（Ⅱ） ions are bridged by two 4-nitrophthalates both in a bis-monodentate mode. Magnetic measurements reveal that the intramolecular exchange couplings in the dimer are ferromagnetic with 2J/k = 2.32 K, D =-1.44 K and g = 2.18.

Hard poly（vinyl chloride）（PVC）/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene （ABS） blends were prepared using injection- molding and influence of crosshead speed on mechanical properties was examined. Based on morphology parameters obtained from transmission electron microscopy photography and the material parameters from true stress-strain curves of neat PVC and ABS, yield stresses of the blends at different crosshead speeds were simulated employing a two-dimensional nine-particle model based on the finite element analysis （FEA）. The FEA results were compared with the experimental yielding stress and the good agreement validated the simulation approach. The FEA approach allowed establishing a yielding criterion related to local yielding of the interstitial matrix between ABS particles.

Phenethyl-bridged DOPO derivative(DiDOPO)was combined with graphene nanosheets(GNSs)in epoxy resin(EP)to improve its flame *** results indicated that the introduction of only 1.5 wt%DiDOPO/1.5 wt%GNS in EP increased the limited oxygen index(LOI)from 21.8%to 32.2%,hence meeting UL 94 V-0 *** thermogravimetric analyses revealed that char yield rose in presence of GNSs to form thermally stable carbonaceous *** decomposition and pyrolysis products in gas phase were characterized by thermogravimetry-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(TG-FTIR),and the release of large amounts of phosphorus was detected in the gas *** evaluation of flame-retardant effect by cone calorimetry demonstrated that GNSs improved the protective-barrier effect of fire residue of EP/DiDOPO/*** latter was further confirmed by digital photography and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Also,Raman spectroscopy showed that GNSs enhanced graphitization degree of the resin during ***,the combination of DiDOPO with GNSs provides an effective way for developing high-performance resins with improved flame retardancy.

Effects of Annealing Process on Crystallization and Low Temperature Resistance Properties of PP-R Composites

The effects of the annealing process on the mechanical properties and crystallization behaviors of polypropylene random copolymer（PP-R） composites were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry（DSC）, wide-angle X-ray diffraction（WAXD）, and dynamic mechanical analysis（DMA）, and scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. The experimental results indicated that the annealing process significantly influenced the comprehensive properties of PP-R composites. At temperatures below 23 ℃, the impact strength of the PP-R composites annealed at 120 ℃ for 6 h was relatively high at 74.73 k J/m^2, which was 16.8% higher than that of the samples annealed at 80 ℃ for 6 h. At low temperatures（-30-0 ℃）, the impact strength ranged from approximately 13.31 k J/m^2 to 54.4 k J/m^2. In addition, the annealing process conducted at 120 ℃ for 6 h improved the crystalline structure and low-temperature toughness of the PP-R composites and induced α-form to β-form crystal transformation. The work provides a possible method to reinforce and toughen the semicrystalline polymer at low temperatures（-30-0 ℃） by annealing.
