Template synthesis of silver indium sulfide based nanocrystals performed through cation exchange in organic and aqueous media

Heavy-metal-free silver based I-III-VI semiconductor nanocrystals(NCs),including ternary silver indium sulfide(AgInS_(2))and derivative quaternary silver indium zinc sulfide(i.e.,AgInZn_(2)S_(4))NCs,possess advantages of low toxicity,and size-tunable band gaps approaching near-infrared spectral range,which make them candidates for use in optoelectronic and biological ***,we report syntheses of AgInS_(2) based NCs starting from In_(2)S_(3) template,which have been performed both in organic and aqueous phase through cation *** a result,ternary silver indium sulfide and quaternary silver indium zinc sulfide NCs are obtained in both organic and aqueous media,and confirmed to be orthorhombic AgInS_(2) NCs and hexagonal AgInZn_(2)S_(4) NCs,***,the aqueous AgInZn_(2)S_(4) NCs with red emission and low cytotoxicity are explored for the cancer cell imaging.

Proactive Personalized services Through Fog-Cloud Computing in Large-Scale IoT-Based Healthcare Application

With the development of medical sensors and IoT, personalized service assisted elder and patient living is a critical service in IoT-based healthcare application. However, the scale and complexity of personalized service is increasing because of ubiquitous deployment of various kinds of medical sensors, which cause response time increase and resource waste. Therefore, leveraging the advantage of complex event processing(CEP) in data stream processing, we propose a hierarchical fog-cloud computing CEP architecture for personalized service to accelerate response time and reduce resource waste. Firstly, we introduce the proposed architecture, which includes sensor layer, fog layer and cloud layer. Secondly, we propose a series of optimizations for the architecture, there are a partitioning and clustering approach and a communication and parallel processing policy to optimize the fog and cloud computing. Finally, we implement a prototype system based on the architecture named Fog Cep Care. Experimental result shows that Fog Cep Care is superior to the traditional IoT-based healthcare application.

A Survey of Bitmap Index Compression Algorithms for Big Data

With the growing popularity of Internet applications and the widespread use of mobile Internet, Internet traffic has maintained rapid growth over the past two decades. Internet Traffic Archival Systems（ITAS） for packets or flow records have become more and more widely used in network monitoring, network troubleshooting, and user behavior and experience analysis. Among the three key technologies in ITAS, we focus on bitmap index compression algorithm and give a detailed survey in this paper. The current state-of-the-art bitmap index encoding schemes include： BBC, WAH, PLWAH, EWAH, PWAH, CONCISE, COMPAX, VLC, DF-WAH, and VAL-WAH. Based on differences in segmentation, chunking, merge compress, and Near Identical（NI） features, we provide a thorough categorization of the state-of-the-art bitmap index compression algorithms. We also propose some new bitmap index encoding algorithms, such as SECOMPAX, ICX, MASC, and PLWAH＋, and present the state diagrams for their encoding algorithms. We then evaluate their CPU and GPU implementations with a real Internet trace from CAIDA. Finally, we summarize and discuss the future direction of bitmap index compression algorithms. Beyond the application in network security and network forensic, bitmap index compression with faster bitwise-logical operations and reduced search space is widely used in analysis in genome data, geographical information system, graph databases, image retrieval, Internet of things, etc. It is expected that bitmap index compression will thrive and be prosperous again in Big Data era since 1980s.

Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)are considered promising for applications such as military surveillance and *** security of these networks must be ensured in order to have reliable *** such networks requires more attention,as they typically implement no dedicated security *** addition,the sensors have limited computing resources and power and storage,which makes WSNs vulnerable to various attacks,especially denial of service(DoS).The main types of DoS attacks against WSNs are blackhole,grayhole,flooding,and *** are two primary techniques to build an intrusion detection system(IDS):signature-based and *** study uses the data-driven approach since the signature-based method fails to detect a zero-day *** publications have proposed data-driven approaches to protect WSNs against such *** approaches are based on either the traditional machine learning(ML)method or a deep learning *** fundamental limitations of these methods include the use of raw features to build an intrusion detection model,which can result in low detection *** study implements entity embedding to transform the raw features to a more robust representation that can enable more precise detection and demonstrates how the proposed method can outperform state-of-the-art solutions in terms of recognition accuracy.

Flexible, large area electronics using various organic and inorganic materials are beginning to show great promise. During manufacture and service, large deforma- tion of these hybrid materials will pose significant challenges in terms of high performance and reliability. A deep understanding of the ductility or flexibility of macroelectronics becomes one of the major issues that must be addressed ur- gently. This paper describes the current level of understanding on the thin-film ductility, both free-standing and substrate-supported, and relevant influencing factors.

As one of Qo S(Quality of service) metrics, delay is critical important to delay sensitive applications, such as interactive video, network game and online surgery. In this paper, we exploit SDN(Software Defined Networking) advantages to solve delay Qo S problem. Our work mainly focuses on SDN based queuing delay estimation with real traffic and end-to-end delay control. First, we propose a queuing estimation model and extended it for end-to-end delay of the whole path. It is proved to be feasible and accurate with experimental results in SDN environment. Second, in order to demonstrate the use of our proposed model, we also implement an end-to-end delay control application in SDN. It fulfills specific delay Qo S requirements by dynamically switching flows to a suitable queue based on estimation results and delay requirements.

The utilization of traditional Chinese medicine and associated factors in Taiwan in 2002

Background Previous studies have noted that there is a high utilization rate of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） services in Taiwan, China and in western countries, but few studies investigated factors associated with the utilization of TCM in Taiwan. This study analyzes the utilization rate and the factors associated with the utilization of TCM in Taiwan. Methods Data for this study were from the 2002 HPKAP Survey that conducted the face-to-face questionnaire interviews of people aged 15 years and over from October 2002 to March 2003 in Taiwan. This study analyzed the utilization of TCM outpatient services, including admission to the hospital and clinic visits. Results A total of 26 755 participants completed the survey in the six-month period. The data revealed that 10.4% of participants had utilized TCM services in the past one month while 4.2% of participants utilized TCM only （without using Western medicine outpatient services （WM） or Folk therapy （FT））. The average visits of TCM services per patient was higher among people who had utilized TCM and FT services （2.68 visits） than among those who had utilized WM and FT services （2.15 visits） or TCM services alone （2.15 visits） during the previous one month. Younger people （odds ratio OR = 1.78, 95%CI= 1.47-2.16）, women （compared with men）, and people with higher education levels （OR = 1.58, 95%CI= 1.25-1.98） were more likely to visit TCM than compared groups. People with self-reported poor health status （OR = 2.07, 95%CI= 1.76-2.44） and people who exercise regularly （OR = 1.17, 95%CI= 1.07-1.27） had higher ORs to visit TCM service than comparison group. Conclusions There is a high utilization of TCM in Taiwan. Further studies are needed to investigate the related factors and determinants between the utilization of TCM and the utilization of FT in Taiwan.

Multi-Level Cache System of Small Spatio-Temporal Data Files Based on Cloud Storage in Smart City

In this paper, we present a distributed multi-level cache system based on cloud storage, which is aimed at the low access efficiency of small spatio-temporal data files in information service system of Smart City. Taking classification attribute of small spatio-temporal data files in Smart City as the basis of cache content selection, the cache system adopts different cache pool management strategies in different levels of cache. The results of experiment in prototype system indicate that multi-level cache in this paper effectively increases the access bandwidth of small spatio-temporal files in Smart City and greatly improves service quality of multiple concurrent access in system.
