Ibandronate sodium monohydrate is a highly polar aliphatic compound that belongs to the bisphosphonate class,a widely used bone resorption *** aliphatic nature of ibandronate precludes direct photometric detection and its high polar-ity urged analysts to use ion-pairing agents in the mobile phase to promote retention in reversed-phase *** this work,a reversed-phase method for determination of ibandronate sodium monohydrate in pharmaceutical tablets is introduced by employing an online postcolumn ligand exchange reaction to enable photometric *** method offers for the first time the ability to separate the drug from its well-known impurities on conventional reversed-phase *** detection reac-tion depends on the ability of ibandronate and its degradation products to displace salicylate in the iron(III)salicylate complex,forming various colorless iron(III)complexes and showing a negative chromatographic signal for ibandronate and its degra-dants atλ_(max)=525 *** chromatographic separation was achieved using a Hypersil BDS C_(8) column(5μm particle size,150 mm×4.6 mm i.d.)and a mobile phase consisting of a mixture of aqueous formate buffer pH 3(pH 3,5 mM)and methanol in a ratio of 80:20%(v/v),delivered at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/*** postcolumn iron(III)salicylate reagent was prepared at 250μM in aqueous formate buffer,delivered using a syringe pump at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/*** proposed method was validated as per the guidelines of the International Conference on Harmonization Q2(R1)and was found linear over the range 40-120μg/mL(r=0.9995)with a limit of detection of 3.19μg/*** to currently reported methods,the proposed method is considerably simpler,faster,cheaper,and adequately sensitive and makes use of the most popular LC detectors.

Fabrication and evaluation of carboxymethyl guar gum-chitosan interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) nanoparticles for controlled drug delivery

Guar gum(GG)has drawn more interest from researchers in the last several decades for the controlled delivery of *** aim of the research is to fabricate and evaluate an interpenetrating polymer network(IPN)based nanocarriers system employing chemically modified GG to achieve controlled release of *** present study,we have reported the synthesis of carboxymethyl GG-chitosan IPN nanoparticles for controlled release of metformin *** guar gum(CMGG)was synthesized and employed for developing IPN nanoparticles in combination with chitosan in varying polymeric ratios.A cross-linking agent,sodium tripolyphosphate(Na-TPP)was used for the synthesis of IPN colloidal suspension of nanoparticles which was lyophilized to obtain *** carboxymethylation of GG was confirmed through Fourier transform infra-red spec*** mean particle size was 440.6 nm indicating a polydispersity index of *** drug entrapment efficiency was found to vary between 67.461.64%to 88.232.02%.The differential scanning calorimetry study revealed the presence of amorphous metformin hydrochloride as a homogenous dispersion in nanoparticles(NPs)*** vitro drug release study indicated controlled release ability of developed IPN matrix.A2 formulation(chitosan:CMGG-1:1)exhibited 78.110.27%release after 8 *** evaluation performed in alloxan-treated diabetic rat model exhibited a prolonged hypoglycemic efficacy over 6 h,for A2 formulation treated group,compared to the group receiving only metformin HCl,which demonstrated a reduction in blood glucose levels for up to 4 *** study findings demonstrated the efficacy of the CMGG-chitosan based IPN nanoparticulate system for sustained delivery of therapeutic agents.

In the last decade,a new class of natural biomaterials derived from de-fatted soybean fl our processed by either thermoset or extraction procedures has been *** biomaterials uniquely combine adaptability to various clinical applications to proven tissue regeneration *** the present work,the biomaterials were formulated either as hydrogel or as paste formulation and their potential as wound dressing material or as dermal substitute was assessed by two in vivo models in pig skin:The healing full-thickness punch biopsy model and the non-healing full-thickness polytetrafl uoroethylene(PTFE)chamber *** results clearly show that collagen deposition is induced by the presence of these biomaterials.A unique pattern of early infl ammatory response,eliciting neutrophils and controlling macrophage infi ltration,is followed by tissue cell colonization of the wound bed with a signifi cant deposition of collagen fi *** study also highlighted the importance in the use of optimal formulations and appropriate handling upon *** large size,non-healing wounds,wound dermis was best obtained with the paste formulation as hydrogels appeared to be too loose to ensure lasting scaff olding *** the contrary,packing of the granules during the application of paste reduced biomaterial degradation rate and prevent the penetration of newly vascularized tissue,thus impeding grafting of split-thickness autologous skin grafts on the dermal substitute base.

Research on the Construction of Pharmacy Organization and the Development of pharmaceutical services in China’s Primary Medical and Health Institutions—Based on the Survey of 5 Provinces

Protection effect of the anthraquinones, cassiatorin and aurantio-obtusin from seeds of Senna tora against cowpea weevil attack

Objetive: To explore the potential insecticidal, ovipositor deterrent and antifeedant effects of ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Senna tora(Syn. Cassia tora) against cowpea weevil(Callosobruchus maculatus).Method: The activities were evaluated using standard *** these bioassays, the cowpea seeds were used directly as an insect feed. The activity of the extract and isolated compounds were tested at concentrations of 100, 200 and 300 μg/mL and compared to neem oil and cinnamaldehyde(as standard positive controls). Phytochemical analysis of the ethyl acetate extract was done through a number of chromatographic techniques and the structures of the isolated compounds were established through comprehensive spectroscopic analysis including 2 D-NMR and ESI-MS ***: Fractionation of the active ethyl acetate extract resulted in the isolation of one known anthraquinone,aurantio-obtusin(1) and a novel compound that was named as cassiatorin(2). Compounds1 and 2 showed comparable insect antifeedant properties with the positive controls while their insecticidal and ovipositor deterrent effects were far superior to the standard ***: It is thus concluded that Senna tora extracts and the isolated compounds(1 and2) may be employed in the postharvest management of stored cowpea seeds and as other crop protectants.

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of 1%Sodium Chloride(LiceFreee Spray)against 1%Permethrin Creme Rinse on Head Lice Infested Individuals

Head lice are a public health issue, and resistance to available over-the-counter pediculicides is a concern. The objective of this randomized study was to evaluate the pediculicidal activity and safety of 1% Sodium Chloride spray (0.1709 M), (LiceFreee Spray®) compared to the current recommended treatment for head lice with 1% Permethrin Crème Rinse. Forty-two subjects were randomized equally into Sodium Chloride or Permethrin group. Products were applied to hair according to the label instructions. After application of the products at Day 1 and Day 8, pediculicidal efficacy and safety were assessed at Day 1, Day 8 and Day 15. Second treatment was only applied on Day 8 to individuals with observed live lice using the same products and protocols as Day 1. Proportion of lice free subjects per group, the reduction in number of live lice per head and adverse effects were recorded after each visit. The results showed significantly higher pediculicidal activity for Sodium Chloride spray (85%) as compared to Permethrin (45%) at Day 15 (p 0.05). Similar numbers of lice per head (21.76 range 10 to 68 versus 21.29 range 10 to 60 for Sodium Chloride and Permethrin groups, respectively) were observed for individuals at Day 1. At Day 15, lice per head infested reduced to 0.55 ± 1.50 in Sodium Chloride spray group compared to 5.45 ± 7.91 in the Permethrin group (p 0.01). No serious adverse effects were observed in both groups. Sodium Chloride spray had superior efficacy to 1% Permethrin Crème Rinse in treating head lice and is a safe and excellent alternative to the current recommended treatment.

Recognizing the potential of globalizing traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),this review summarizes the current global use of TCM for COVID-19,status of the internationalization of TCM,and strategy on globalizing TCM for ***-19 is a novel coronavirus disease that has sparked a pandemic in March 2020 affecting over 110 *** researchers have been racing to develop targeted anti-COVID-19 treatment and vaccine,they are still currently ***,in treating patients infected with COVID-19,western medicine mainly recommended symptomatic treatment and *** drugs are used in the context of clinical trials,and the FDA still not yet approved these drugs for *** the other hand,TCM proposed herbal treatment for suspected individuals to take within their observation period,as well as for confirmed COVID-19 patients to take during active phase of disease and during *** China,Integrative Chinese-western Medicine had been used in treating 91.5%of COVID-19 patients and showed its strength in reducing disease severity,shortening recovery time,and lowering the mortality *** obstacles in globalizing TCM for the treatment of COVID-19,promoting appropriate use of locally registered TCM products may prevent disease in susceptible individuals,improve the quality of life,and assist in the recovery of COVID-19 *** increasing global acceptance,TCM may play a more important role in the battle against infectious disease in the future.
