Paclitaxel-lipid prodrug liposomes for improved drug delivery and breast carcinoma therapy

Paclitaxel(PTX)is widely applied for the treatment of unresectable and metastasis breast carcinoma as well as other cancers,whereas its efficacy is always impeded by poor *** are one kind of the most successful drug carriers which are capable of solubilizing PTX and improving patients’tolerance owing to excellent biocompatibility and ***,poor compatibility between PTX and liposomes compromises the stability,drug loading and anti-tumor capacity of liposomal *** address this issue,three lipids with various chain lengths,namely,myristic acid(MA,14C),palmitic acid(PA,16C)and stearic acid(SA,18C),were conjugated to PTX via ester bonds and the synthesized prodrugs with high lipophilicity were further formulated into liposomes,*** liposomes show high stability and drug loadings,as well as sustained drug *** chain lengths of lipids are negatively correlated with drug release and enzymatic conversion rates,which further impact the pharmacokinetics,tumor accumulation,and anti-tumor efficacy of liposomal *** rapid nor slow drug release facilitates high tumor accumulation as well as anti-tumor efficacy of *** all liposomes,PTX-PA-loaded liposomes show the longest circulation and highest tumor accumulation of PTX and exert the most potent anti-tumor capacities in vivo,owing to its moderate drug release and enzymatic conversion *** its superior safety,PTX-PA liposomes hold potential for further clinical translation.

BACKGROUND Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)is a cause of acute-onchronic liver failure(ACLF).AIM To investigate the risk factors of ACLF within 1 year after TIPS in patients with cirrhosis and construct a prediction *** In total,379 patients with decompensated cirrhosis treated with TIPS at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from 2017 to 2020 were selected as the training cohort,and 123 patients from Nanfang Hospital were included in the external validation *** and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify independent *** prediction model was established based on the Akaike information *** and external validation were conducted to assess the performance of the *** Age and total bilirubin(TBil)were independent risk factors for the incidence of ACLF within 1 year after *** developed a prediction model comprising age,TBil,and serum sodium,which demonstrated good discrimination and calibration in both the training cohort and the external validation *** Age and TBil are independent risk factors for the incidence of ACLF within 1 year after TIPS in patients with decompensated *** model showed satisfying predictive value.

Automatic Detection Instrument for the Ratio of Chlorine to Bromine in Oxidized Liquid of Bromine Production Based on Fuzzy Method

In the process of bromine production,because of lag adjustment methods,there are problems of adjusting delay,raw material wastage and low growth *** considering the nature of bromine production,with the help of fuzzy data processing method,computer detection and display technique,we designed an automatic detection instrument for the ratio of chlorine to bromine in oxidized liquid of bromine *** instrument can be used to detect the different parameters of raw materials adjustment and control in real time,and afford assurance that raw materials will be adjusted in *** paper briefly introduces the working mechanism,hardware and software design of the instrument.

Improving the mechanical properties and inhibiting strain softening behavior of the biodegradable Zn-0.06Mg alloy via ECAP plus rolling processing

The practical application of micro-alloying Zn–Mg alloys is limited due to their poor mechanical properties and evident strain softening behavior. Therefore, this paper proposed the utilization of ECAP plus rolling processing as an innovative approach to potentially address these limitations. Herein, effects of ECAP and rolling processing on the microstructures, mechanical properties and strain softening behavior were investigated. It was found that the grain refinement achieved through 1-pass ECAP and 8-pass ECAP processing differed significantly, and subsequent rolling processing can further regulate grain size and dislocation distribution. The 1-pass ECAP plus cold rolling(1p-CR), 1-pass ECAP plus hot-cold rolling(1p-HC), and 8-pass ECAP plus hot-cold rolling(8p-HC) processed alloys exhibited heterostructure characterized by fine grains encircling coarse grains. Additionally, regions with high density dislocations were uniformly distributed alongside regions with low density dislocations. This unique microstructure promoted the accumulation and interaction of dislocation during deformation, resulting in the inhibition of strain softening behavior while maintaining high strength and high elongation. Therefore, the 1p-CR, 1p-HC, and 8p-HC alloys demonstrated excellent formability and mechanical stability while meeting the required mechanical properties for implant materials, which highlight their significant potential for practical applications.

Unveiling the secrets of diatom-mediated calcification: Implications for the biological pump

Siliceous diatoms are one of the most prominent actors in the oceans, and they account for approximately 40% of the primary production and particulate organic carbon export flux. It is believed that changes in carbon flux caused by variations in diatom distribution can lead to significant climate shifts. Although the fundamental pathways of diatom-driven carbon sequestration have long been established, there are no reports of CaCO3precipitation induced by marine diatom species. This manuscript introduces novel details regarding the enhancement of aragonite precipitation during photosynthesis in Skeletonema costatum in both artificial and natural seawater. Through direct measurements of cell surfaces via a pH microelectrode and zeta potential analyzer, it was determined that the diatom-mediated promotion of CaCO3precipitation is achieved through the creation of specific microenvironments with concentrated [CO32–] and [Ca2+] and/or the dehydrating effect of adsorbed Ca2+.Based on this mechanism, it is highly plausible that diatom-mediated calcification could occur in the oceans, an assertion that was supported by the significant deviation of total alkalinity（TA） from the conservative TA-salinity mixing line during a Skeletonema costatum bloom in the East China Sea and other similar occurrences. The newly discovered calcification pathway establishes a link between particulate inorganic and organic carbon flux and thus helps in the reassessment of marine carbon export fluxes and CO2sequestration efficiency. This discovery may have important ramifications for assessing marine carbon cycling and predicting the potential effects of future ocean acidification.

There is a global need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit the extent of climate change.A better understanding of how our own activities and lifestyle influence our energy use and carbon emissions can help us enable changes in activities that can lead to reductions in carbon *** we discuss an approach based on examining carbon emissions from the perspective of the unit C,where 1 C is the CO_(2)from food a person would on average eat every *** approach shows that total CO_(2)emissions in China,normalized by the population,is 22.5 C while carbon emissions for a person in the US is 43.9 C.A better appreciation of our own energy use can be obtained by calculating carbon emissions from our own activities in units of C,for example for driving a car gasoline or electric vehicle a certain number of kilometers,using electricity for our homes,and eating different *** this information,we can see how our carbon emissions compare to national averages in different countries and make decisions that could lower our personal CO_(2)emissions.
