Hydrogen economy based on electrochemical water splitting exemplified one of the most promising means for overcoming the rapid consumption of fossil fuels and the serious deterioration of global *** development of earth-abundant,efficient,and durable electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)plays a vital role in the commercialization of water ***,the self-supported electrode with unique nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide(N-rGO)nanoflakes and WS_(2) hierarchical nanoflower that were grown directly on carbon cloth(CC)substrate(WS_(2)/N-rGO/CC)was successfully synthesized using a facile dual-step hydrothermal *** as-synthesized 50%1T/2H-WS_(2)/N-rGO/CC(WGC),which possessed high metallic 1T phase of 57%not only efficiently exposed more active sites and accelerated mass/charge diffusion,but also endowed excellent structural lustiness,robust stability,and durability at a high current *** a result,the 50%WGC exhibited lower overpotentials and Tafel slopes of 21.13 mV(29.55 mV∙dec^(-1))and 80.35 mV(137.02 mV∙dec^(-1))as compared to 20%Pt-C/CC,respectively for catalyzing acidic and alkaline hydrogen evolution ***,the as-synthesized 50%WGC also depicted long-term stability for more than 8 h in the high-current-density regions(100 and 220 mA∙cm^(-2)).In brief,this work reveals a self-supported electrode as an extraordinary alternative to Pt-based catalysts for HER in a wide pH range,while paving a facile strategy to develop advanced electrocatalysts with abundant heterointerfaces for practical applications in energy-saving hydrogen production.

MXene has been the limelight for studies on electrode active materials,aiming at developing supercapacitors with boosted energy density to meet the emerging influx of wearable and portable electronic *** its various desirable properties including intrinsic flexibility,high specific surface area,excellent metallic conductivity and unique abundance of surface functionalities,its full potential for electrochemical performance is hindered by the notorious restacking phenomenon of MXene *** to its two-dimensional(2D)nature and surface functional groups,inevitable Van der Waals interactions drive the agglomeration of nanosheets,ultimately reducing the exposure of electrochemically active sites to the electrolyte,as well as severely lengthening electrolyte ion transport *** a result,energy and power density deteriorate,limiting the application versatility of MXene-based *** 3D architectures using 2D nanosheets presents as a straightforward yet ingenious approach to mitigate the fatal flaws of ***,the sheer number of distinct methodologies reported,thus far,calls for a systematic review that unravels the rationale behind such 3D MXene structural ***,this review aims to serve this purpose while also scrutinizing the structure–property relationship to correlate such structural modifications to their ensuing electrochemical performance ***,the physicochemical properties of MXene play fundamental roles in determining the effective charge storage capabilities of 3D MXene-based *** largely depends on different MXene synthesis techniques and synthesis condition variations,hence,elucidated in this review as ***,the challenges and perspectives for achieving viable commercialization of MXene-based supercapacitor electrodes are highlighted.

Electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and overall water splitting(OWS)for renewable energy generation have recently become a highly promising and sustainable strategy to tackle energy crisis and global warming arising from our overreliance on fossil ***,tremendous research breakthroughs have been made in 2D carbon-based heterostructured electrocatalysts in this *** heterostructures are distinguished by their remarkable electrical conductivity,exposed active sites,and mechanical ***,with fundamental mechanisms of electrocatalytic OWS summarized,our review critically emphasized on state-of-the-art 2D carbon nanosheet-,graphene-,and graphdiyne-based heterostructured electrocatalysts in HER and OWS since ***,the three emerging carbonaceous substrates tend to be incorporated with metal carbides,phosphides,dichalcogenides,nitrides,oxides,nanoparticles,single atom catalysts,or layered double ***,fascinating structural engineering and facile synthesis strategies were also unraveled to establish the structure-activity relationship,which will enlighten future electrocatalyst developments toward ameliorated HER and OWS ***,computational results from density functional theory simulations were highlighted as well to better comprehend the synergistic effects within the ***,current stages and future recommendations of this brand-new electrocatalyst type were concluded and discussed for advanced catalyst designs and future practical applications.

A kind of low power connector used e.g. in household appliances was partly burned in routine experiment. The heat sources were four paralleled contacts constructed by springs (Sn/CuSn-alloy) in socket and a plug sheet (Ni/Steel) while mating. The contact interfaces were detected by scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and X-ray energy dispersive spectros- copy (XEDS), obvious wear tracks and various contaminants, including element Si, Al, Na, K, S, Cl, O, etc., were found. The contamination degrees on the four paralleled contacts were different, so that the ratio of average contact resistance on the four contacts was about 5:8:3:1. The maximum contact resistance on contacts of the plug sheet reached 28 ?. The main failure rea- sons were fretting and contamination between the contact interfaces. Fretting simulation showed that connection resistance of connectors was raised up, even to ohms level. When the current increased to 5 A, the socket housing was heated and decom- posed. By the thermal analysis, it was estimated that the connector would be burned under the lower current if the current was not evenly distributed on the four paralleled contacts caused by uneven contamination. Improvement methods for connector failure are also discussed.

电化学整体水分解(OWS)作为一种很有应用前景的能源转换技术,可用于生产清洁的可再生氢燃料,引起了人们的广泛关注.然而,水分解反应的半反应,即析氧反应(OER),因动力学缓慢、水分解热力学势垒高和能量消耗大等问题制约了OWS的广泛应用.研究发现,采用地球储量丰富的元素设计的多孔材料可以显著提高活性位点数量及其可及性,增大比表面积,优化反应物的吸附/脱附,改善传质,进而表现出较好的电催化活性.因此,系统梳理总结多孔纳米材料在电催化分解水领域的研究进展具有重要的意义.本文综述了近年来用于析氢反应,OER和OWS的多孔电催化剂的研究进展.聚焦于合成策略的最新进展,并结合多孔结构在电催化剂中的独特作用进行了讨论.概述了各种新兴的多孔电催化剂改性策略,包括结构工程、相工程、缺陷工程和应变工程;重点介绍了合成方法、多孔材料性能提升、机理理解、集成实验、水分解的理论研究和先进的改性策略,并提出了合成工艺.特别总结了结构-活性关系的研究成果,为设计和改性具有独特性能的多孔材料提供参考.最后,本文强调了当前多孔电催化剂所面临的科学挑战和未来发展方向,旨在为推动多孔电催化剂在电化学水分解领域的应用和发展提供借鉴.
