A composite material comprising a carbon layer and spherical carbon/carbon cloth(C-SC/CC)was fabricated using a hydrothermal-pyrolysis method,employing carbon cloth as the substrate and glucose as the carbon *** C-SC/CC electrode was evaluated as an electrocatalytic electrode for hydrogen production by electrolysis of Bunsen reaction *** electrode prepared with 4 g of glucose and annealed at 800°C showed excellent electrocatalytic *** requires only a potential of 185 mV(***)to achieve a current density of 10 mA/***,the electrode demonstrated good stability with a 6%loss in current density after 1000 cycles of scanning from 0.2 V to 1.2 *** results indicate the potential of the SC/CC electrode as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for the electrolysis of H2SO4 and HI.

The mixing of two or more components belongs to the category of the most common unit operations, both in technology and in nature. One particular version is homogenization(blending), the effectivity of which is strongly related to the blending time. Among many differentiated individual solutions of mixing systems used in blenders, one should distinguish the class of agitators with diffusers. An analysis of the character of the velocity field during a blending chamber operation leads to the conclusion that it would be of avail to outfit a straight diffuser with different setups of elbows. In consequence, the vertical direction of the inflowing fluid stream would be changed into the horizontal direction of the outflowing stream, which should intensify the blending process. The concept has been verified experimentally, making use of the tracer methodology. The obtained results confirmed the theoretical conclusion that the blending time for the swirling-diffuser was shorter than for the classical straight one.

A new compact torus injector(KTX-CTI)has been built for injection experiments on the Keda Torus eXperiment(KTX)reversed field pinch(RFP).The aim is to study the fundamental physics governing the compact torus(CT)central fueling *** experiments conducted under the sole influence of a 0.1 T toroidal magnetic field,the injected CT successfully penetrated the entire toroidal magnetic field,reaching the inner wall of the KTX vacuum *** reaching the inner wall,the CT diffused both radially outward and toroidally within the vessel at a discernible diffusion ***,the inherent helicity within the CT induced a modest KTX plasma current of 200 A,consistent with predictions based on helicity *** injection demonstrated the capability to initiate KTX discharges at low loop voltages,suggesting its potential as a pre-ionization and current startup *** RFP discharges featuring CT injection,the central plasma density was found to exceed the Greenwald density limit,with more peaked density profiles,indicating the predominant confinement of CT plasma within the core region of the KTX bulk plasma.

Improved glucose metabolism following bariatric surgery is associated with increased circulating bile acid concentrations and remodeling of the gut microbiome

Clinical studies have indicated that circulating bile acid(BA) concentrations increase following bariatric surgery, especially following malabsorptive procedures such as Roux-en-Y gastric bypasses(RYGB). Moreover, total circulating BA concentrations in patients following RYGB are positively correlated with serum glucagonlike peptide-1 concentrations and inversely correlated with postprandial glucose concentrations. Overall, these data suggest that the increased circulating BA concentrations following bariatric surgery- independently of calorie restriction and body-weight loss- could contribute, at least in part, to improvements in insulin sensitivity, incretin hormone secretion, and postprandial glycemia, leading to the remission of type-2 diabetes(T2DM). In humans, the primary and secondary BA pool size is dependent on the rate of biosynthesis and the enterohepatic circulation of BAs, as well as on the gut microbiota, which play a crucial role in BA biotransformation. Moreover, BAs and gut microbiota are closely integrated and affect each other. Thus, the alterations in bile flow that result from anatomical changes caused by bariatric surgery and changes in gutmicrobiome may influence circulating BA concentrations and could subsequently contribute to T2 DM remission following RYGB. Research data coming largely from animal and cell culture models suggest that BAs can contribute, via nuclear farnezoid X receptor(FXR) and membrane G-protein-receptor(TGR-5), to beneficial effects on glucose metabolism. It is therefore likely that FXR, TGR-5, and BAs play a similar role in glucose metabolism following bariatric surgery in humans. The objective of this review is to discuss in detail the results of published studies that show how bariatric surgery affects glucose metabolism and subsequently T2 DM remission.

The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of Spirulina (Spirulina platensis) as a natural filler on thecuring characterization, morphology and mechanical, thermomechanical and thermal properties of naturalrubber (NR) based composites. Spirulina was introduced into NR mixture in amount of 0 phr, 10 phr and 30 *** vulcanization process was carried out at the determined process condition by using hydraulic press atoptimum vulcanization time (t90). It was noticed that Spirulina affected on the reduction of t90, and scorch time(t2) of the NR mixtures. Obtained vulcanizates were subjected to the number of tests e.g. scanning electronmicroscopy analysis, mechanical dynamical analysis, tensile test, hardness, and thermogravimetry. Generally, itwas found that Spirulina added in amount of 10 phr NR positively influenced on tensile strength (TSb), storagemodulus and hardness of obtained composites.

Systemic therapy for cervical carcinoma–current status

Two major treatment modalities in cervical cancer are radiation therapy（RT） and surgery. Chemotherapy continues to be the main form of systemic therapy adjunctive to definitive local therapies, and is used for ***-based regimens, administered concurrently with both definitive and postoperative RT, were demonstrated to provide significant survival benefits, whereas the beneficial effect of concurrent chemoradiotherapy in later-stage disease was smaller. The role of chemotherapy in addition to RT in IB1/IIA1 cervical cancer patients not undergoing surgery remains undefined. Likewise, the role of chemotherapy in combination with postoperative RT for patients with intermediate-risk factors for recurrence has not yet been verified. The recent standard for chemoradiotherapy is cisplatin alone administered weekly. Other cisplatin-based or non-cisplatin-based regimens have not been subjected to large clinical studies. The benefits of consolidation chemotherapy after chemoradiation for locally advanced cervical cancer are still undetermined. Neoadjuvant cisplatin-based chemotherapy followed by surgery has shown survival benefits, however its role in the era of chemoradiotherapy remains unclear. The combination of cisplatin and paclitaxel is considered a standard regimen in the palliative setting. There is no standard of care for second-line systemic therapy in advanced cervical *** combined with palliative chemotherapy（cisplatin/paclitaxel or topotecan/paclitaxel） in the first-line treatment for recurrent/metastatic cervical cancer significantly improves overall survival when compared to chemotherapy alone. The role of immunotherapy in cervical cancer remains to be established. Constructing the efficacious and applicable bifunctional electrocatalysts and establishing out the mechanisms of organic electro-oxidation by replacing anodic oxygen evolution reaction(OER) are critical to the development of electrochemicallydriven technologies for efficient hydrogen production and avoid CO_(2) emission. Herein, the hetero-nanocrystals between monodispersed Pt(~ 2 nm) and Ni_(3)S_(2)(~ 9.6 nm) are constructed as active electrocatalysts through interfacial electronic modulation, which exhibit superior bi-functional activities for methanol selective oxidation and H_(2) generation. The experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the asymmetrical charge distribution at Pt–Ni_(3)S_(2) could be modulated by the electronic interaction at the interface of dual-monodispersed heterojunctions, which thus promote the adsorption/desorption of the chemical intermediates at the interface. As a result, the selective conversion from CH_(3)OH to formate is accomplished at very low potentials(1.45 V) to attain 100 m A cm^(-2) with high electronic utilization rate(~ 98%) and without CO_(2) emission. Meanwhile, the Pt–Ni_(3)S_(2) can simultaneously exhibit a broad potential window with outstanding stability and large current densities for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) at the cathode. Further, the excellent bi-functional performance is also indicated in the coupled methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)//HER reactor by only requiring a cell voltage of 1.60 V to achieve a current density of 50 m A cm^(-2) with good reusability.
