Fatal cases in pediatric patients after post-exposure prophylaxis for rabies:A report of two cases

Background Clonorchiasis and opisthorchiasis, caused by the liver flukesClonorchis sinensis andOpisthorchis viverrini respectively, represent significant neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in Asia. The co-existence of these pathogens in overlapping regions complicates effective disease control strategies. This study aimed to clarify the distribution and interaction of these diseases within Southeast *** We systematically collated occurrence records of human clonorchiasis (n = 1809) and opisthorchiasis (n = 731) across the Southeast Asia countries. Utilizing species distribution models incorporating environmental and climatic data, coupled machine learning algorithms with boosted regression trees, we predicted and distinguished endemic areas for each fluke species. Machine learning techniques, including geospatial analysis, were employed to delineate the boundaries between these *** Our analysis revealed that the endemic range ofC. sinensis andO. viverrini in Southeast Asia primarily spans across part of China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. During the period from 2000 to 2018, we identifiedC. sinensis infections in 84 distinct locations, predominantly in southern China (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region) and northern Vietnam. In a stark contrast,O. viverrini was more widely distributed, with infections documented in 721 locations across Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Critical environmental determinants were quantitatively analyzed, revealing annual mean temperatures ranging between 14 and 20 °C in clonorchiasis-endemic areas and 24–30 °C in opisthorchiasis regions (P < 0.05). The machine learning model effectively mapped a distinct demarcation zone, demonstrating a clear separation between the endemic areas of these two liver flukes with AUC from 0.9 to1. IDENTIFICATION OF ANTI-HUMAN IgG MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES AND MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES WITH CONFINED SUBCLASS REACTIVITY

In a previous paper, 4 hybridoma cell lines (1B3, 2D5, 2A4 and 2B6) secreting antibodiesagainst heavy chain of hmnan IgG were reported. In this paper a more detailed study of theseMcAbs was introduced. First of all they were studied with double immunodiffusion test inagarose and it was demonstrated that they were reactive against 3 distinct antigenic deter-minants of human IgG. This result was also confirmed by ELISA competition test. TheseMeAbs were further analysed for human IgG subclass proteins and it was found that 1B3McAb gave positive reaction with all subclasses of IgG while the other 3 possessed confinedsubclass reactivity, i.e. McAb 2A4 did not react with IgG3 (ealled non-IgG3 McAb), andboth McAbs 2D5 and 2B6 did not react with IgG4 (called non-IgG4 McAb). Background Opisthorchiasis and clonorchiasis,caused by Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis,respectively,are significant yet neglected foodborne trematodiases in the Great Mekong Subregion(GMS).Despite the reporting of the prevalence of these human liver flukes in the region over the past decades,there has been a lack of a comprehensive and systematic consolidation of this ***,we aimed to conduct a thorough systematic review and meta-analysis to synthesize and analyze time-trend prevalence estimates of both *** and *** across the GMS for the past 30 *** This study undertakes a systematic review using a comprehensive search for published articles in PubMed,EMBASE,Scopus,Cochrane and Thai Journal Online databases until early *** pooled prevalence of *** and *** infection was analyzed through a random-effects meta-analysis,with meta-regression analysis used to quantify associations with study ***-group analysis was conducted,whenever comparison data were available,to assess the risk of *** and *** infection in each GMS *** among studies was assessed using the Q statistic and quantified by using the I^(2)*** From a total of 2997 articles,155 articles comprising 218 datasets and 751,108 participants were included for *** GMS prevalence of *** was 21.11%[45,083/260,237;95%confidence interval(CI):17.74-24.47%].Pooled prevalence estimates were highly observed in Laos(34.06%,95%CI:26.85-41.26%),followed by Thailand(18.19%,95%CI:13.86-22.51%),and Cambodia(10.48%,95%CI:5.52-15.45%).Myanmar and Vietnam had limited data sources for *** sinensis infection in GMS was 25.33%(95%CI:18.32-32.34%),with Guangxi,China,exhibiting the highest prevalence rates at 26.89%(95%CI:18.34-35.43%),while Vietnam had a prevalence rate of 20.30%(95%CI:9.13-31.47%).*** prevalence decreased significantly over time,whereas *** infec

Development of the Life Gatekeeper suicide prevention training programme in China:a Delphi study

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THREE DIFFERENT B CELL TYPES AND THE SPECIFIC EFFICIENCY OF HYBRIDOMA FORMATION

The kinetic changes of the number of antigen-specific B cell （ASC, sIg, Ig-non-secreting）, preplasma cell （sIg, Ig-secreting） and plasma cell （sIg, Ig-secreting） in the spleens of inbred sibling Balb/c mice during the continuous OA immunization process were assayed, and their relationship to the corresponding spccific efficiency of the hybridoma formed was compared. The results show: the specific efficiency of hybridoma formation is parallel with the kinetic changes of the number of ASC, but not with the number of preplasma or plasma cells. So we suggest that the antigen activated B lymphocytes in proliferating state, but neither the antibody-secreting cells （i.e. preplasma cell and plasma, cell） nor small B lymphocytes are partners fused with the myeloma cells to yield functional hybridoma cells.

Treatment priority for suicide ideation and behaviours at an Australian emergency department

AIM: To investigate the treatment priority given to selfharmers presenting to a hospital emergency department(ED) in Queensland, Australia, over the period 2005-2010. METHODS: The main outcome measure of this study was the treatment priority given to persons presenting with suicide ideation and communication(SIC) or self-harming behaviour. Treatment priority was measured using the Australasian Triage Scale, which ranks patients from 1(in need of immediate treatment) to 5(assessment and treatment to start within 120 min). Ordered logistic regression was used to assess the broad demographic and treatment-related factors associated with more urgent triage categories and to in-vestigate which methods of non-fatal suicidal behaviour(NFSB) were prioritised as most ***: Most cases of NFSB were between 15 and 34 years. A larger proportion of persons presenting for SIC were aged 35 to 44 years. Over 50% of male presentations and 38% of female presentations were for SIC. Those cases prioritised as being more urgent had significantly greater odds of being older, presented after an act of self-harm rather than SIC, and had used multiple methods of NFSB. These individuals also had greater odds of being male and having made past presentations for SIC or NFSB. Among males, those presenting after ingestion of drugs had the greatest odds of receiving immediate attention compared to SIC. "Cutters" were considered as the least "urgent" subjects, and had a greatest risk of waiting 60 to 120 min for treatment compared to suicide ideators. Among females, those presenting with chemicals, poisons and gases had the greatest odds of receiving immediate attention compared to SIC. Females who presenting after cutting themselves had lower odds of receiving immediate treatment than those who presented with SIC. CONCLUSION: ED staff seems to judge the urgency of cases based on demographic factors such as age and gender, as well as method of NFSB.

The high rates of depression,burnout,and increased risk of suicide among medical students,residents,and physicians in comparison with other careers signal a mental health crisis within our *** contend that this crisis coupled with the inadequate acquisition of interpersonal skills during medical education results from the interaction between a challenging environment and the mental capital of ***,we posit that mindfulness-based practices are instrumental for the development of major components of mental capital,such as resilience,flexibility of mind,and learning skills,while also serving as a pathway to enhance empathy,compassion,self-awareness,conflict resolution,and relational ***,the evidence base supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions has been increasing over the years,and a growing number of medical schools have already integrated mindfulness into their *** we acknowledge that mindfulness is not a panacea for all educational and mental health problems in this field,we argue that there is currently an unprecedented opportunity to gather momentum,spread and study mindfulness-based programs in medical schools around the world as a way to address some longstanding shortcomings of the medical profession and the health and educational systems upon which it is rooted.
