Objective Background and Objects: Naturally occurring temporal variability of action potentialduration (APD) in isolated myocytes has been noted. Most of the studies have beenfocusing on analyzes of the differences in ionic channels and currents among theepicardial-, mid-myocardial-(M) and endocardial myocytes, and the rate-dependent (adaptation) characteristics of APD. We have found that the change in APD during achange in frequency of stimulation mostly reflects a change in rate of repolarization at distinct membrane potential levels. We assumed that in the myocytes, there is balancing mechanism, which is constantly adjusting the various ionic currents accommodating to the changing conditions. This intrinsic ability of adaptation is important and may offer some of the consequences of the transmural heterogeneity in adaptation of APD. This adaptive behaviors maybe equally important in maintaining the normal electrophysiological properties and in induction of arrhythmia in a case of error in normal adaptation. Though most studies of Na +/Ca 2+ exchange (NCX) has been emphasized on its reverse activaty during pathyological condition. Our hypothesis is that reverse activaty of NCX also plays an important role in adjusting the repolarization of AP during a physiological condition. A mismatch between action potential (AP) repolarization and relaxation of the contraction can be caused by intracellular Ca 2+ transport abnormalities. Ca 2+ influx via reverse activation of NCX can load the sarcoplasmic recticulum (SR), which has arrhythmogenic effect.Methods We studied the single myocytes from the left ventricle of adult mongrel dogs. During the cell separation, collagenase was perfused through LAD by Langandorff system. We use the patch-clamp system to determinded AP in current clamp mode. Myocyte contraction was imaged by a video camera, shortening of unloaded myocytes was detected by a video edge motion detector, using changes in light intensity at the edges of the myocyte. Adsorption is one of the several techniques that has been successfully used for dyes removal.Since most industrial colored effluents contain several components including dyes,having a strong knowledge about the scope of competitive adsorption process is a powerful key to design an appropriate system.This is mainly because of the complexity brought about by the increasing number of parameters needed for process description which complicates not only the process modeling but also the experimental data collection.A multicomponent adsorption model should be based on fundamental soundness,speed,and simplicity of calculation.For such systems,competition will change the adsorbent-adsorbate attractions.Thus,there is major concern to develop an accurate and reliable method to predict dye adsorption behavior in multi-component systems.This article covers topics such as the theory of dyes adsorption in multi-component systems along with applicable models according to the consistent theories presented by researchers.

We theoretically investigated a second-order optomechanical-induced transparency(OMIT) process of a hybrid optomechanical system(COMS), which a Bose-Einstein condensate(BEC) in the presence of atom-atom interaction trapped inside a cavity with a moving end mirror. The advantage of this hybrid COMS over a bare COMS is that the frequency of the second mode is controlled by the s-wave scattering interaction. Based on the traditional linearization approximation, we derive analytical solutions for the output transmission intensity of the probe field and the dimensionless amplitude of the second-order sideband(SS). The numerical results show that the transmission intensity of the probe field and the dimensionless amplitude of the SS can be controlled by the s-wave scattering frequency. Furthermore, the control field intensities,the effective detuning, the effective coupling strength of the cavity field with the Bogoliubov mode are used to control the transmission intensity of the probe field and the dimensionless amplitude of the SS.

Nanotubes form clusters and are found in curved bundles in nano-tube films and nanocomposites.Separation phenomenon is sus-pected to occur in these curved bundles.In this study,the deformation of a single-wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)interacting with curved bundle nanotubes is analyzed.It is assumed that the bundle is rigid and only van der Waals force acts between the nanotube and the bundle of nanotubes.A new method of model-ing geometric nonlinear behavior of the nanotube due to finite rotation and the corresponding van der Waals force is developed using co-rotational finite element method(CFEM)formulation,combined with small deformation beam theory,with the inclusion of axial force.Current developed CFEM method overcomes the limitation of linear Finite Element Method(FEM)formulation regarding large rotations and deformations of carbon nanotubes.This study provides a numerical tool to identify the critical curvature influence on the interaction of carbon nanotubes due to van der Waals forces and can provide more insight into studying irregula-rities in the electronic transport properties of adsorbed nanotubes in nanocomposites.

Kinetics of reaction between Na2S2O3 and peroxide compound ( H2O2 or Na2S2O8) in a batch reactor and in a continuous stirring tank reactor (CSTR) were studied.Steady oscillations in uncatalyzed reactions in a CSTR were first discovered.In Na2S2O3-H2O2-H2SO4 reaction system,Pt potential and pH of higher and lower flow rutes beyond oscillation flow rates were in around the same extreme values.The reaction catalyeed by Cu2+ corsist of the catalyzed oscillation process and the uncatalyzed osciliation one.On the basis of experiment,a reaction mechanism consisting of three stages was put forward.The three stages are H positive-feedback reactions,proton negative-feedba k (uncatalyzed negative-feedback and catalyzed negative-feedback) reactions and transitional reactions.The mechanism is able to explain reasonably the nonlinear chemical phenomena appearing in the thiosulfatc oxidation reaction by peroxide-compounds.

In this paper, an ion-vacancy lattice gas model is presented for M-ions occupying octahedrally coordinated sites in the intercalation compounds MxTX2. The ordered structures of M-ions are studied using probability wave theory of the atomic configuration. Three stablest ordered structrues have been deduced and the role of interaction parameters in the formation of ordered structures is analysed quantitatively. An the known experiment results are analysed and discussed.

The overriding objective of this research was to assess the status,major origins and contributing factors of cross-border migration and human trafficking in Ethiopia with the intention of identifying key policy lessons to address the problem.To meet the intended objectives,desk review and key informant interview data gathering techniques were employed.The results of the assessment disclosed that Ethiopia is one of the largest origins(transit and destination as well)of the trafficked persons from Africa.The most common drivers are found to be an amalgam of socioeconomic,political and environmental factors.It was also found that the journey is often dangerous leading to physical assault,sexual abuse,abduction,robbery,drug/alcohol trafficking and even death.In most destination areas,illegal migrants face restricted mobility,exploitative working conditions and harassment of different kinds.The ultimate mechanism to address the problem was found to be adequate job creation and poverty reduction through intensified development efforts involving governmental and non-governmental organizations and the private sector.Furthermore,enhanced democratization of the government system,political tolerance,good governance,improved access to legal travel authorization(visa)for safe migration,awareness creation campaigns,improved monitoring of the private employment agencies and increased cooperation among stakeholders were found to be vital solutions to minimize and halt illicit cross-border human trafficking from Ethiopia.
