Management of Breast Cancer in visceral surgery of CNHU-HKM of Cotonou in Benin

Breast cancer affects more females than males. It occurs earlier with the black females and is often diagnosed at a stage of complication. This study aims to describe its epidemiological characteristics, the changing stages, and to analyze the treatment and means of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in its care and treatment. Our study was retrospective, descriptive and analytic on breast cancer patients received at CNHU-HKM of Cotonou between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2013. Breast cancer accounts for 24.24% of mammary pathologies and most affects the left breast. Females aged from 40 to 59 years old are the most affected. For males, the average age was 47.5 years old. Patients mostly consult at a later stage where the tumor is already palpable with nodal metastasis. Breast echography and mammography had been done only for 23.85% of the cases. In an anatomical pathology perspective, the invasive ductal carcinoma was the most common type with 87.2%. For the therapeutical aspect, a radical mastectomy according to Patey was realized in 81.65% of the cases;48.65% underwent a chemotherapy and 14.7% were able to do a radiotherapy. The chance at life for patients was decreasing while the life time is increasing. Also, the average life span of patients was increased by the combination of diverse types of treatments notably when radiotherapy is done. The incidence of breast cancers in visceral surgery A and B department of CNHU-HKM-Cotonou is increasing over years.

Treatment of Operative Pain in visceral Cancer surgery at CHU Gabriel Toure

The objectives were to determine the frequency of pain in cancer patients and its intensity in cancer pathologies and to evaluate the evolution of pain intensity after analgesic treatment;the effectiveness of its management study involved 121 cases of operated gastrointestinal cancers, which accounted for 85.82% (141) of operated cancers and 16.78% (721) of all operated patients;the average age of our patients was 49.93 years with extremes 17 and 78 years. Standard deviation: 15.75;with a sex ratio of 1.46. The majority of our patients had WHO III (54/121) or 44.6%;46.3% (56/121) of patients were in stage IV of the TNM classification. The main digestive cancers were cancer of the esophagus 4 cases (3.3%);of the stomach 61 cases (50.4%);of the pancreas 7 cases (5.8%);of the liver 4 cases (3.3%);gall bladder 2 cases (1.6%);colon 33 cases (27.3%);rectum 6 cases (4.9%) and hail 4 cases (3.3%). The average pain intensities were 3 to 6 hour;2 to 24 hour;1.6 to 48 hour;and 1.2 to 72 hour. The majority of our patients had a treatment protocol involving nefopam, and paracetamol was 58%. The pain was exacerbated especially during exercise. Vomiting and vein burning were the main side effects encountered.

HNRNPC as a pan-cancer biomarker and therapeutic target involved in tumor progression and immune regulation

Peripheral blood RNA biomarkers can predict lesion severity in degenerative cervical myelopathy

Degenerative cervical myelopathy is a common cause of spinal cord injury,with longer symptom duration and higher myelopathy severity indicating a worse *** numerous studies have investigated serological biomarkers for acute spinal cord injury,few studies have explored such biomarkers for diagnosing degenerative cervical *** study involved 30 patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy(51.3±7.3 years old,12 women and 18 men),seven healthy controls(25.7±1.7 years old,one woman and six men),and nine patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(51.9±8.6 years old,three women and six men).Analysis of blood samples from the three groups showed clear differences in transcriptomic *** analysis identified 128 differentially expressed genes that were enriched in patients with neurological *** least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis,we constructed a five-gene model(TBCD,TPM2,PNKD,EIF4G2,and AP5Z1)to diagnose degenerative cervical myelopathy with an accuracy of 93.5%.One-gene models(TCAP and SDHA)identified mild and severe degenerative cervical myelopathy with accuracies of 83.3%and 76.7%,*** of two immune cell types(memory B cells and memory-activated CD4^(+)T cells)predicted levels of lesions in degenerative cervical myelopathy with 80%*** results suggest that peripheral blood RNA biomarkers could be used to predict lesion severity in degenerative cervical myelopathy.

lncRNA SNHG4 enhanced gastric cancer progression by modulating miR-409-3p/CREB1 axis

Regulated cell death is a form of cell death that is actively controlled by *** studies have shown that regulated cell death plays a key role after spinal cord *** and ferroptosis are newly discovered types of regulated cell deaths that have been shown to exacerbate inflammation and lead to cell death in damaged spinal ***,a complex form of cell death that is interconnected with various regulated cell death mechanisms,has garnered significant attention in the study of spinal cord *** injury triggers not only cell death but also cellular survival *** signaling pathways play pivotal roles in influencing the processes of both deterioration and repair in spinal cord injury by regulating pyroptosis,ferroptosis,and ***,this review aims to comprehensively examine the mechanisms underlying regulated cell deaths,the signaling pathways that modulate these mechanisms,and the potential therapeutic targets for spinal cord *** analysis suggests that targeting the common regulatory signaling pathways of different regulated cell deaths could be a promising strategy to promote cell survival and enhance the repair of spinal cord ***,a holistic approach that incorporates multiple regulated cell deaths and their regulatory pathways presents a promising multi-target therapeutic strategy for the management of spinal cord injury.
