Experimental and analytical investigation on friction resistance force between buried coated pressurized steel pipes and soil

This paper presents an analytical approach for estimating frictional resistance to pipe movement at soil and external pipe surface of buried coated pressurized steel pipes relative to the internal thrust *** proposed analytical method was developed based on 36 experiments,which involved three coating types(cement mortar(CM),polyurethane type-I(PT-I),prefabricated plastic tape(PPT))on pipes’surfaces,three different soils(pea-gravel(PG),sand(S),silty-clay(SC)),and four simulated over burden depths above the pipe’s *** showed frictional resistance decreased with inc.easing over burden depth above the pipe’s *** degree of frictional resistance at the pipe-soil interface was found to be in the order of PG>SC>S for all coating variations and overburden *** coated pipe buried in all three types of soil produced significantly higher frictional resistance as compared to other coating *** on experimental data,the developed analytical introduced a dimensionless factor“Z”,which inc.uded effects of types of coatings,soil,and overburden depths for simplified rapid *** showed that the method provided a better prediction of frictional resistance forces,in comparison to previous analytical methods,which were barely close in predicting friction resistance for different coating variations,soil types,and overburden *** resistance force values reported herein could be considered conservative.

A major challenge facing photodynamic therapy(PDT) is that the activity of the immuneinduced infiltrating CD8^(+)T cells is subject to the regulatory T lymphocytes(Tregs), leaving the tumor at risk of recurrence and metastasis after the initial ablation. To augment the antitumor response and reprogram the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment(TME), a supramolecular photodynamic nanoparticle(DACss) is constructed by the host-guest interaction between demethylcantharidin-conjugated β-cyclodextrin(DMC-CD) and amantadine-terminated disulfide-conjugated FFVLGGGC peptide with chlorin e6 decoration(Ad-ss-pep-Ce6) to achieve intelligent delivery of photosensitizer and immunomodulator for breast cancer treatment. The acid-labile β-carboxamide bond of DMC-CD is hydrolyzed in response to the acidic TME, resulting in the localized release of DMC and subsequent inhibition of *** guest molecule Ad-ss-pep-Ce6 can be cleaved by a high level of intracellular GSH, reducing photosensitizer toxicity and inc.easing photosensitizer retention in the tumor. With a significant inc.ease in the CTL/Treg ratio, the combination of Ce6-based PDT and DMC-mediated immunomodulation adequately achieved spatiotemporal regulation and remodeling of the TME, as well as improved primary tumor and in situ lung metastasis suppression with the aid of PD-1 antibody.

MET gene alterations in lung cancer patients mainly inc.ude exon 14 skipping and gene amplification,which are the key therapeutic targets and drive resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKls).1 However,the structural variants of MET,such as MET fusions,are much rarer(0.26%),as reported in a Chinese non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)cohort.2 Several recurrent MET fusions,such as KIF5B-MET and HLADRB1-MET,were reported as oncogenic drivers and showed favorable responses to crizotinib.

Monitoring deformation is of critical importance for tunnel boring projects. This importance is further amplified for the metro construction project that involves boring beneath or near susceptible civil infrastructures. Here， we present a case study that uses robotic total station to preform automated deformation monitoring inside a tunnel during the excavation. Further， enabled with the Internet of Things technology， the monitoring data are streamlined through wireless internet access points and processed by a remote control center. A complete suite of software is deployed that can 1. process the monitoring data automatically. 2. set different triggering threshold reflecting various levels of hazardous inc.dents. 3. storing the data for further analysis that visualize the data， quantify overall risk levels and conduct predictive modelling. Built upon this automated system， a triage of risk response protocol is established that preforms reactive treatment according to the levels of reported hazards. A de-risk process， involving third party review， is also established. Overall， this report demonstrates our effort in monitoring the tunnel’s deformation with an automated system to save cost and reduce human induced errors. This report can be a useful reference for other engineers preforming metro tunneling tasks.

Foods and animal feeds frequently become contaminated with the nephrotoxic ochratoxin A (OTA). Our prior research has indicated that ursolic acid (UA)， which is widely present in fruits and medicinal plants， has the potential to alleviate nephrotoxicity triggered by OTA. Additionally， excessive induction of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-phagy exacerbates OTA-induced apoptosis. Therefore， further investigation is essential to comprehend whether UA can mitigate OTA-induced apoptosis by influencing ER-phagy. This objective is accomplished through a series of experiments involving assessments of cell viability， apoptosis， fluorescence microscopy， and western blot analysis. The outcomes of these experiments reveal that pre-treatment with 4 μmol/L UA for 2 h can markedly reverse the elevated apoptotic rate， the co-localization of ER and lysosomes， and the protein expressions of GRP78， p-eIF2α， Chop， Bax， and Bak， as well as the reduced cell viability and the protein expressions of Lonp1， Trap1， p62， Tex264， FAM134B， Bcl-2， and Bcl-xl， all caused by exposure to 1 μmol/L OTA for 24 h in human proximal tubule epithelial-originated kidney-2 (HK-2) cells (P inc.eased expression of LC3B-II induced by OTA is further amplified by UA pre-treatment (P < 0.05). In conclusion， OTA triggers a harmful feedback loop between ER stress (ERS) and excessive ER-phagy， thereby further promoting ERS- and mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in vitro. However， this effect is significantly mitigated by UA through the inhibition of autophagosome-lysosome fusion， consequently blocking the excessive ER-phagic flux.

Soft In Way inc. performed the aerodynamic design of a 4 stages high pressure radial blower with vaneless diffusers and deswirlers for DMW Corporation in 2021. The nominal pressure ratio of the machine is near *** a pressure ratio often characterizes what would typically be called a compressor, especially if the compression work is performed in one stage. For the subject machine of the present study, the compression work is split into 4 *** paper describes the design procedure for this blower, initially focusing in depth on the tradeoffs between work split,rotor diameter, and rotor vane back-sweep angle. The paper then presents a further design and optimization work of different variants of diffuser and deswirler based on aerodynamic performance for this 4 stages radial blower. The number of deswirler blades in the return channel was reduced from 19 to 10 in consideration of manufacturing requirements. To minimize losses in performance due to reduced blade number, several candidates of varied geometry shape deswirler blades were obtained from an automatic design and optimization workflow combining with 3D CFD calculation. All candidates of deswirler were implemented to the entire 4 stages radial blower to analyze machine performance by 3D CFD calculation and the best 10-blade deswirler geometry was determined. 3D CFD analysis shows that 10 blades of deswirler is unable to provide the same pressure rise and efficiency as the original design with 19 blades when all other parts of the design, such as rotor and diffuser are maintained the same. To further improve the blower performance, the similar automatic workflow was applied to study vaned diffuser influence to the blower performance based on the new blower configuration. The number and geometry of best diffuser blades was obtained from the automatic workflow and entire blower performance with vaned diffuser was analyzed and validated by 3D CFD calculation.
