Effects of COL1A1 and SYTL2 on inflammatory cell infiltration and poor extracellular matrix remodeling of the vascular wall in thoracic aortic aneurysm

To the Editor:In 1996,Parodi et al^([1])introduced the technique of fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair(f-EVAR)for treatment of pararenal abdominal aortic *** use physician modified stent grafts(PMSGs)for fenestration,which allows for stent grafts to gain sufficient proximal sealing zones and maintain the blood perfusion of visceral arteries.^([2])Stent grafts used in the f-EVAR technique developed from PMSGs to Company Modified Devices(CMDs)and off-the-shelf devices.^([3])To improve the precision of PMSGs and shorten the time of stent graft modification,various techniques that assist in the process of fenestration have been researched and developed,including 3-dimensional(3D)printing technique,the Mixed Reality(MR)technique,and the 3D parametric surface planar topological guide *** article describes the current status and future development of these techniques.

Role of macrophages in aortic dissection pathogenesis: insights from preclinical studies to translational prospective

Aortic dissection is a critical vascular disease that is characterized by a high mortality rate and inflammation significantly influences its onset and progression. Recent studies highlight the integral role of macrophages, key players in the immune system, in the pathological landscape of aortic dissection. These cells are involved in crucial processes, such as the remodeling of the extracellular matrix, immunocyte infiltration, and phenotypic switching of smooth muscle cells, which are essential for the structural integrity and functional dynamics of the aortic wall. Despite these insights, the specific contributions of macrophages to the development and progression of aortic dissection remains unclear. This review explores the pathogenesis of aortic dissection with a focus on macrophages and describes their origins,phenotypic variations, and potential roles based on the most recent research findings. Furthermore, we discuss key molecules related to macrophages during aortic dissection, their interactions with other cellular components within the aorta, and the implications of these interactions for future therapeutic strategies. This comprehensive analysis aimed to improve our understanding of macrophages in aortic dissection and promote the development of targeted interventions.

To restrict indication for stenting of the inferior vena cava and liver transplantation in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome

The Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS)used to be a very rare disorder and lacked a means of ***,various shuntings and radical procedures have emerged in the last three decades with quite encouraging *** minimally invasive therapies,such as stenting of the inferior vena cava(IVC),are simple and easy to ***,it has been realized that the IVC stent may compromise the hepatic veins and cause catastrophic consequences,thus the indication for IVC stenting should be reevaluated and especially not to be ***,it should be applied by percutaneous transangiography(PTA)only,which may be repeated when *** BCS in China predominantly belongs to the IVC type rather than the intrahepatic type in Western;the outcome from its conventional therapy,at least for the moment,is better than that of liver *** is thus suggested that,before liver transplantation is decided,the conventional means for managing BCS be *** final suggestion is to restrict the indication both for stenting of the IVC and liver *** this paper,ten examples are given with figures.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and left ventricular non-compaction:Distinct diseases or variant phenotypes of a single condition?
