Variability in Grain Quality Characters of Upland Rice of assam,India

The grain quality of 100 uplandlahu rice genotypes from assam, India was assessed. The characteristics measured were grain length, grain width, cooked grain length, cooked grain width, grain elongation ratio after cooking, grain widening ratio after cooking, alkali spreading value, gel consistency, as well as starch, amylose, amylopectin and total soluble sugar contents. Considerable genetic variability among the 100 rice genotypes was observed for the characteristics under study. Analysis of vadance revealed highly significant differences among the genotypes for all the characteristics. The difference between genotypic coefficient of variation （GCV） and phenotypic coefficient of variation （PCV） was very small for all the characteristics analyzed. High GCV and PCV were found in the characteristic of total soluble sugar content followed by alkali spreading value. The high values for these traits signify the scope for selection to develop superior genotypes. High heritability was recorded in all the characteristics analyzed along with diverse genetic advance which varied from 9.71% to 52.83%. The characteristic of total soluble sugar content showed high heritability with high genetic advance, whereas alkali spreading value and grain widening ratio presented high hedtability with moderate genetic advance. This implies that these characteristics are mainly under additive gene effects and could be relied upon further selection based on phenotypic performance. The genotypic correlation coefficient was higher than the phenotypic correlation coefficient, indicating strong inherent associations among the characteristics studied.

It is experimentally demonstrated that a relatively strong ion-rich sheath formed at a fixed negative bias of the grid can be changed to a rather weak ion sheath （sheath potential weakly retards electrons） only by increasing the discharge voltage in the system. At sufficiently high negative grid bias, an increase of discharge voltage enhances the ion collection current at the grid. An explanation is put forward in support of this experimental observation. A slight density enhancement with a fall in plasma electron temperature is also observed with the increasing negative grid bias.

In this study,four biochars prepared from different crop residue waste *** bagasse(SBB),coconut shell(CNB),paddy straw(PDB),and distilled waste of lemongrass(LGB)were evaluated for removal of Remazol Brilliant Blue R from the aqueous *** RBBR adsorption capacities of biochar were 97-79%for SBB,99.9-99.47%for CNB,66.1-48%for PDB,and 78-68%for LGB,dominantly controlled by their aromaticity and mineral *** Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms and pseudo-second-order kinetic models have described the chemisorption of RBBR on biochar *** thermodynamic data suggested that adsorption was spontaneous and *** biochars demonstrated excellent reusability(till four cycles with 50-61%regeneration).The purified water and biochar dye sludge demonstrated no *** findings obtained in this study may provide supports for the potential of biochars for anionic dye removal from water and utilization of generated sludge for zero waste-producing technologies in the future.

This study was aimed at investigating the performance of anaerobic rotating biological cont- reactor treating synthetic wastewater containing a mixture of heavy metals under sulfate redu condition. Statistically valid factorial design of experiments was carried out to understand dynamics of metal removal using this bioreactor system. Copper removal was maximum （〉98% followed by other heavy metals at their respective low inlet concentrations. Metal loading rates than 3.7 mg/L· h in case of Cu（II）; less than 1.69 mg/L· h for Ni（II）, Pb（II）, Zn（II）, Fe（III） and C are favorable to the performance of the An-RBC reactor. Removal efficiency of the heavy metals 1 mixture depended on the metal species and their inlet loading concentrations. Analysis of n precipitates formed in the sulfidogenic bioreactor by field emission scanning electron microscopyalong with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （FESEM-EDX） confirmed metal sulfide precipitationby SRB. All these results clearly revealed that the attached growth biofilm bioreactor is well suited for heavy metal removal from complex mixture.

This paper attempts to investigate the viscoelastic nature of eight Crude Oil(CO)samples from the upper assam Basin,*** was studied using Dynamic Mechanical Analysis(DMA)where shear stress was applied to the CO samples and the resulting displacement(shear strain)was *** transportation through pipelines face serious problems due to their high pour(PP)point and *** this work,Dynamic Modulus(G*)was calculated using which the storage and the loss modulus were determined to study the elastic and viscous nature of the samples at 30C as the average Pour Point(PP)of the CO samples was near 30***,especially during the extreme winter season in assam,when the ambient temperature falls drastically,the lighter components come out from the liquid and precipitates in the inner wall of the pipeline which affects the flow through the ***,a better understanding of the flow behavior of CO is very important as this will help to identify whether flow improving methods are required or ***,in this work viscoelastic properties of the CO samples were investigated from where yield point was *** points or the Yield Point(YP)of the samples were determined to understand the flow characteristics before and after the crossover *** the CO samples were observed to be viscous after the yield point except for two CO *** stress and yield strain of the samples were calculated from the YP,which exhibited non-Newtonian behavior with maximum yield stress up to *** reaching the YP,the CO samples showed the dominance of viscous nature over elastic nature except for two *** tangent or tan q was also calculated to validate the viscoelasticity of the *** study was done to investigate the flow behavior of CO samples of the upper assam Basin for pipeline transportation.
