Numerical Investigation of Tip Clearance Effects in an Axial Transonic Compressor

Numerical investigations of the Darmstadt transonic single stage compressor (DTC), in the Rotor1-Stator1 configuration, aimed at advancing the understanding of the effect of different rotor tip gaps and transition modelling on the blade surfaces are presented. Steady three dimensional Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) simulations were performed to obtain the flow fields for the different configurations at different operating conditions using the RANS-Solver TRACE. The stage geometry and the multi-block structured grid were generated by G3DMESH and a grid sensitivity analysis was conducted. For the clearance gap region, a fully gridded special H-grid was chosen. Comparisons were made between the flow characteristic at design speed, representative for a transonic flow regime, and at 65% speed, representative for a subsonic flow regime. The computations were used to analyse the flow phenomena through the tip clearance region for the different configurations and their impact on the performance of the compressor stage.

Spinal cord injury results in the loss of sensory,motor,and autonomic functions,which almost always produces permanent physical ***,in the search for more effective treatments than those already applied for years,which are not entirely efficient,researches have been able to demonstrate the potential of biological strategies using biomaterials to tissue manufacturing through bioengineering and stem cell therapy as a neuroregenerative approach,seeking to promote neuronal recovery after spinal cord *** of these strategies has been developed and meticulously evaluated in several animal models with the aim of analyzing the potential of interventions for neuronal repair and,consequently,boosting functional *** the majority of experimental research has been conducted in rodents,there is increasing recognition of the importance,and need,of evaluating the safety and efficacy of these interventions in non-human primates before moving to clinical trials involving therapies potentially promising in *** article is a literature review from databases(PubMed,Science Direct,Elsevier,Scielo,Redalyc,Cochrane,and NCBI)from 10 years ago to date,using keywords(spinal cord injury,cell therapy,non-human primates,humans,and bioengineering in spinal cord injury).From 110 retrieved articles,after two selection rounds based on inclusion and exclusion criteria,21 articles were ***,this review arises from the need to recognize the experimental therapeutic advances applied in non-human primates and even humans,aimed at deepening these strategies and identifying the advantages and influence of the results on extrapolation for clinical applicability in humans.

The identification of the critical infrastructure has shown that the build civil engineering infrastructure is almost involved everywhere, even with the IT-infrastructure. Therefore, the passive safety of structures is demanded. Security associations have analysed that most assaults came along with explosion and impact scenarios, which amount in 80% of assaults. Consequently, these are the extraordinary loads the structures have to be planned and designed for. To carry out such an engineering job, the engineer has to be educated in multiple disciplines as physics, material science , continuum mechanics, numerical mechanics, testing, structural engineering and related specific fields as wave propagation etc. In this paper we will concentrate on the subjects of numerical simulation and testing.

ASYMPTOTIC RESULTS FOR OVER-DISPERSED OPERATIONAL RISK BY USING THE ASYMPTOTIC EXPANSION METHOD

In this paper, the author considers a new Loss-distribution-approach model, in which the over-dispersed operational risks are modeled by the compound negative binomial process. In the single dimensional case, asymptotic expansion for the quantile of compound negative binomial process is explored for computing the capital charge of a bank for operational risk. Moreover, when the dependence structure between different risk cells is modeled by the Frank copula, this approach is extended to the multi-dimensional setting. A practical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of approximation results.

The river Salzach and its tributary Saalach as part of the border line between Germany and Austria represents a permanent water management problem since centuries. While in former times threats for the people mainly arose from severe flood events the present situation is characterized by significant ecological deficits. These were caused by a rectification of the river resulting in a concentration of the flow followed by erosion of the river bed. The situation got worse in the late 60s after construction of hydropower plants started upstream holding back nearly all bed load material. The degradation of the river bed in the downstream section of the Salzach is stated critical by the authorities in respect of the lack of sufficient gravel remaining on top of fine material. As erosion processes of fine sand and silt cannot be predicted accurately but will be probably much faster than those of the gravel bed measures are necessary to stabilize the river bottom to avoid major damages of the embankments and further degradation of the groundwater table. Different alternatives were investigated in a framework of a wide range of studies over the past years. One of the major tasks was to estimate the long term effects on bed load transport.

Rapid,simple and stability-indicating determination of polyhexamethylene biguanide in liquid and gel-like dosage forms by liquid chromatography with diode-array detection

A rapid and simple method for the determination of potyhexamethylene biguanide （polyhexanide, PHMB） in liquid and gel-like pharmaceutical formulations by means of high performance liquid chromatography coupled to diode-array detection （HPLC DAD） was devel- oped. Best separation was achieved using a cyanopropyl bonded phase （Agilent Zorbax Eclipse XDB-CN column 4.6mm x 75 mm with particle size of 3.5 μm） as well as gradient elution consisting of acetonitrile/deionized water at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The optimized and applied chromatographic conditions permitted separation of polyhexanide from interacting raatrix with subsequent detection at a wavelength of 235 nm with good sensitivity. The method validation was carried out with regard to the guidelines for analytical procedures demanded by the International Conference on Harmonisation （ICH）. Mean recoveries of 102% and 101% for gel-like as well as liquid preparations were obtained. Suitable repeatability as well as intermediate precision could bc achieved with limits of detection ≤0.004 mg/mL for both formulations, equivalent to ≤0.004% PHMB concerning sample preparation. Determination of PHMB was accomplished without tedious sample preparation. Interacting matrix could be eliminated by the chromatographicprocedure with excellent performance of system suitability. All analytical requirements were fulfilled permitting a reliable and precise determination of PHMB in pharmaceuticals. Further- more, the developed method was applied to stability testing of pharmaceutical preparations containing PHMB.
