Single Cell Protein(SCP)refers to dry cells of microorganisms,and it constitutes a highly promising and alternative protein source for multiple *** presents a rich nutritional profile containing valuable amino acids and fatty acids,nucleic acids,minerals,and several *** businesses worldwide have introduced SCP into their production cycles,hence expanding the scope of its application in value added market chains such as the edible food *** is produced by a plethora of microorganisms,including fungi,yeasts,bacteria,and algae while many of them are Generally Recognized as Safe(GRAS).Selected microbial strains present satisfying growth capability with high yields when cultivated in renewable ***,production rates and process sustainability could be enhanced via the valorization of industrial and agricultural wastes as the nutrient sources,combined with optimization of process parameters,i.e fermentation mode and feeding strategy,pH,temperature,C/N ratio,agitation rate and oxygen *** review addresses the latest developments made towards the SCP production,highlighting efficient microbial SCP producers,and production systems that valorize solid and liquid streams from several agricultural *** applications,challenges in sensorial-,and safety-aspects as well as consumers perception issues of SCP incorporation into food-related matrices are also discussed.

The paper at hand explores whether short-term rentals(STRs),operated through sharing platforms,can provide employment opportunities to young people that are Not in Employment,Education and Training(NEETs)and whether such opportunities can comprise a realistic and viable solution to their *** focus is on low-skilled native women and migrants between 25-29 that live in Spain,Italy,Greece,and ***,the research is based on the analysis of questionnaires conducted with both NEETs and owners or managers of *** analysis reveals that only firms that own or manage a large number of properties are in position to offer solid employment *** with a limited number of properties are not in position to offer sustainable long-term employment,for two main ***,the generated income is not significant enough to justify employing an individual through a full-time waged-contract or even on a part-time basis;Second,tasks that could potentially lead to employability of NEETs are either low skill positions therefore are outsourced to cheap service providers or require professionals with appropriate technical skills and *** this context,the paper also discusses ways these obstacles to be surpassed.

Dynamic TCP Window Size Adaptation for Improving Network Performance of P2P-Aware Interactive Broadcasting Environments

This paper presents a novel interactive broadcasting infrastructure that exploits P2P technology for optimised resource exploitation during user-generated services" provision. Building upon a prototype DVB-T regenerative platform, it presents a decentralised architecture that exploits the VHF/UHF stream as part of the core/backbone network, providing interactive IP services to rural/urban citizens. Users access the provided IP services via intermediate communication nodes (access network), which are responsible for managing/controlling both uplink and downlink flows. Towards enhancing the scalability as well as the performance of the entire network, the paper studies the realisation of IP overlays by exploiting P2P technology, and proposes the exploitation of dynamic TCP window size for optimum resource exploitation and increased service/bandwidth gain. Performance evaluation experiments carried-out under real transmission/reception conditions with a number of actual users verified the validity of the proposed architecture, besides outlining fields for future research.

A Routing Protocol for Enhanced Efficiency in Cognitive Radio Networks

This paper proposes a novel routing protocol enriched with an assigning mechanism that enables for efficient data flow coordination, among communication nodes with heterogeneous spectrum availability in distributed cognitive radio networks. Efficient routing protocol operation, as a matter of maximum-possible routing paths establishments and minimum delays is obtained, by utilizing a signaling mechanism that was developed based on a simulation scenario. This simulation scenario includes a number of secondary communication nodes, operating over TVWS (television white spaces) under the "spectrum of commons" regulation regime. The validity of the proposed routing protocol for enhanced efficiency in cognitive radio networks is validated, by conducting experimental simulations and obtaining performance evaluation results. Simulation results verified the efficiency of the proposed routing protocol for minimizing routing delays among secondary communication nodes and indentified fields for further research.

The Case of the Carnian(Triassic) Conodont Genus Metapolygnathus Hayashi

Successive evolutionary trends control the genera Paragondolella Mosher and Meta- polygnathus Hayashi over the about 20 Ma long aegean-Tuvalian timespan. In consideration of their evolutionary criteria, these genera have been retained together with Carnepigondolella Kozur and the two new genera proposed herein, MazzaeUa （type species M. carnica） and Hayashiella （type species H. nodosa）. Mazzaella n. gen. represents a Late Julian side branch ofMetapolygnathus, harbouring a platform ornamentation similar to the several million years younger Tuvalian lineage of Carnepigondolella, issued from Hayashiella n. gen. that is intermediary between Metapolygnathus and CarnepigondoleUa, based on appearance and platform ornamentation.

A reconstruction of Turkey’s potential natural vegetation using climate indicators

Turkey,containing three of the world’s biodiversity hotspots,is a hub for genetic ***,the vegetation cover has drastically changed in recent decades as a result of substantial transformations in landuse practices.A map of the potential natural vegetation can be used to represent the biodiversity of a country,and therefore a reference to effectively develop conservation *** multinomial logistic regression is used to simulate the probability of different biomes occurring in the country using elevation,climatological data and natural vegetation data.A correlation test was applied to the climatological data to determine which predictors influence vegetation the *** were temperature,precipitation,relative humidity and *** Ordinary Kriging method was employed to transform the data into the format for the multinomial logistic regression *** model showed that temperature was the most influencing factor with respect to Turkey’s vegetation and distribution follows a similar distribution as the various *** forests are mostly found in the Black Sea region,which is also the wettest region of the *** Marmara region is the only other region where there are broadleaf *** forests and shrublands are mostly located in Central Anatolia due to the region’s low humidity which favours herbaceous *** forests were dominant in the aegean and Mediterranean regions,attributed to high temperatures.

Seasonal variations and distributions of dissolved free and total carbohydrates at the ?zmir Bay, aegean Sea

Seasonal variations and distributions of dissolved carbohydrate concentrations at the ？zmir Bay were investigated with salinity, chlorophyll a（Chl a）, and dissolved organic carbon（DOC） levels to understand their *** were collected from surface, subsurface and bottom depths at seven stations. DOC concentrations ranged from 32.2 to 244.2 μmol/L, and in general, DOC levels increased from winter to summer, then slightly decreased in autumn. Monosaccharide（MCHO）, polysaccharide（PCHO） and total dissolved carbohydrate（TDCHO） levels were found between 0.7–8.3, 0.7–19.5, and 2.6–24.6 μmol/L. DOC, MCHO, PCHO and TDCHO levels were found higher in middle-inner bays, under the influence of anthropogenic inputs, compared to outer bay. Seasonal changes of MCHO/DOC, PCHO/DOC and TDCHO/DOC ratios were statistically significant（p〈0.05）and the ratios showed decrease trends from winter to summer-autumn seasons. Distributions of TDCHO/DOC ratios at wide ranges（2.5%–42.3%） indicated the presence of newly forming and degrading fractions of *** to results of factor analysis, Chl a, MCHO and TDCHO were explained in the same factor groups. In conclusion, the results showed that dissolved carbohydrate levels in the ？zmir Bay might be influenced by biological processes and terrestrial/anthropogenic inputs.

Modeling the Contemporary Stress Field and Deformation Pattern of Eastern Mediterranean

The contemporary stress field in the earth＇s crust is important and provides insights into mechanisms that drive plate motions. In this study, elastic plane stress finite element modeling incorporating realistic rock parameters was used to calculate the stress field, displacement field, and defor- mation of the plate interactions in the eastern Mediterranean. Modeled stress data for the African- Arabian-Anatolian plate interactions with fixed European platform correlate well with observed contemporary stress indicator from the world stress map （WSM） and focal mechanism of earthquakes; while displacement field agrees qualitatively well with GPS vectors and sense of motion indicated by focal mechanisms for large crustal earthquakes （Ms〉6） and plate motion models. Modeling result shows the direction of maximum horizontal compressive stress （σHmax） toward the direction of absolute motion of these plates. Large perturbations in σHmax orientations are shown to occur in and around tectonic boundaries between those plates. It is observed that, although the African plate acts mostly as indenter, which transmits the collisional motion from the Arabian plate to the Anatolian plate, in the current situation, the far-field stress, probably from the subduction in aegean Arc, is needed to satisfy the contemporary stress field in Anatolia.

Modeling nonstationary extreme wave heights in present and future climates of Greek Seas

In this study the generalized extreme value （GEV） distribution function was used to assess nonstationarity in annual maximum wave heights for selected locations in the Greek Seas, both in the present and future climates. The available significant wave height data were divided into groups corresponding to the present period （1951-2000）, a first future period （2001-2050）, and a second future period （2051-2100）. For each time period, the parameters of the GEV distribution were specified as functions of time-varying covariates and estimated using the conditional density network （CDN）. For each location and selected time period, a total number of 29 linear and nonlinear models were fitted to the wave data, for a given combination of covariates. The covariates used in the GEV-CDN models consisted of wind fields resulting from the Regional Climate Model version 3 （RegCM3） developed by the International Center for Theoretical Physics （ICTP） with a spatial resolution of 10 km ×10 km, after being processed using principal component analysis （PCA）. The results obtained from the best fitted models in the present and future periods for each location were compared, revealing different patterns of relationships between wind components and extreme wave height quantiles in different parts of the Greek Seas and different periods. The analysis demonstrates an increase of extreme wave heights in the first future period as compared with the present period, causing a significant threat to Greek coastal areas in the North aegean Sea and the Ionian Sea.

Clonal propagation of mastic tree(Pistacia lentiscus *** Duham.) in outdoor beds using different rootstock and grafting techniques

We assessed different rootstocks and grafting techniques to clonally propagate mastic tree （Pistacia lentiscus var. chia）. Mastic tree is a dioecious tree but the quantity and quality of the resin secreted by female trees are very low; therefore, male trees that are clonally propagated are used to establish commercial plantations for mastic production. Conventional long branch cuttings for clonal production requires too much materials and has a very low rooting rate. Rooting with tissue culture and green cuttings has also failed outdoors. Grafting of mastic on other Pistacia species has not been tried so far; therefore, this study was aimed at developing grafting methods for the clonal propagation of mastic. P. atlantica and P. lentiscus rootstocks were grafted from 15 February to 15 October every 15 days using three grafting methods and a two-factor randomized block trial design. Early spring （15 February-15 March） proved to be the best time for grafting using either of the rootstocks. The highest grafting success was attained using the scions grafted on P. atlantica from 15 February to 15 March. The best bud-burst percentage was obtained using P. atlantica and P. lentiscus rootstocks.
