BACKGROUND Mineral bone disease is associated with chronic kidney disease and persists after kidney *** treatment contributes to the patho-genesis of this *** treatments have shown positive but inde-finite *** To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of bisphosphonate treatment on post kidney transplantation bone mineral density(BMD).METHODS We included kidney transplant recipients(KTRs)whose BMD was measured after the operation but before the initiation of treatment and their BMD was measured at least one year *** also evaluated the BMD of KTRs using two valid mea-surements after transplantation who received no treatment(control group).RESULTS Out of 254 KTRs,62(39 men)were included in the *** were initiated in 35 KTRs in total(20 men),1.1±2.4 years after operation and for a period of 3.9±2.3 years while 27(19 men)received no *** improved significantly in KTRs who received bisphosphonate treatments(from-2.29±1.07 to-1.66±1.09,P<0.0001).The control group showed a non-significant decrease in BMD after 4.2±1.4 years of follow-up after *** function was not affected by bisphosphonate *** KTRs with established osteoporosis,active treatment had a similar and significant effect on those with osteopenia or normal bone *** In this retrospective study of KTRs receiving bisphosphonate treatment,we showed that active treatment is effective in preventing bone loss irrespective of baseline BMD.

The criticality of transformers and reactors in the power transmission network and the paramount importance of ensuring their reliability through maintenance of the insulating oil is known. This paper presents a comprehensive examination of the efficacy and economic viability of a dielectric oil regeneration system, as implemented by the Transmission System Maintenance Department (TSMD) of the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), greece’s sole transmission operator. Through a detailed chemical analysis and performance evaluation, we assess the impact of the regeneration system on treated insulating oil quality over multiple cycles. The study reveals that the electrical properties of the insulating oil are fully restored after regeneration, negating the need to fully replace it, while the investment becomes cost-neutral within weeks from the commissioning of the regeneration system. This economic analysis, coupled with the system’s environmental benefits of reducing waste oil generation, positions the dielectric oil regeneration system as a compelling solution for the maintenance of power transmission assets.

The explosive volume growth of deep-learning(DL)applications has triggered an era in computing,with neuromorphic photonic platforms promising to merge ultra-high speed and energy efficiency credentials with the brain-inspired computing *** transfer of deep neural networks(DNNs)onto silicon photonic(SiPho)architectures requires,however,an analog computing engine that can perform tiled matrix multiplication(TMM)at line rate to support DL applications with a large number of trainable parameters,similar to the approach followed by state-of-the-art electronic graphics processing ***,we demonstrate an analog SiPho computing engine that relies on a coherent architecture and can perform optical TMM at the record-high speed of 50 *** potential to support DL applications,where the number of trainable parameters exceeds the available hardware dimensions,is highlighted through a photonic DNN that can reliably detect distributed denial-of-service attacks within a data center with a Cohen’s kappa score-based accuracy of 0.636.

In this editorial we comment on the detrimental consequences that post-intensive care syndrome(PICS)has in the quality of life of intensive care unit(ICU)survivors,highlighting the importance of early onset of multidisciplinary rehabilitation from within the ***,the syndrome was identified and well described early in 2012,more awareness has been raised on the long-term PICS related health problems by the increased number of coronavirus disease 2019 ICU *** is well outlined that the syndrome affects both the patient and the family and is described as the appearance or worsening of impairment in physical,cognitive,or mental health as consequence of critical *** was described in order:(1)To raise awareness among clinicians,researchers,even the society;(2)to highlight the need for a multilevel screening of these patients that starts from within the ICU and continues after discharge;(3)to present preventive strategies;and(4)to offer guidelines in terms of *** early multidisci-plinary approach is the key element form minimizing the incidence of PICS and its consequences in health related quality of life of both survivors and their families.
