Neutral lipid storage disease with myopathy(NLSDM)is a rare autosomal recessive disorder,due to an enzymatic error of lipid *** present always with skeletal muscle myopathy and variable cardiac and hepatic *** is caused by mutations in the PNPLA2 gene,which encodes the adipose triglyceride lipase(ATGL).Here we report the molecular characterization and clinical findings of two NLSDM siblings carrying the novel c.187t1G>C homozygous PNPLA2 mutation,localized in the splice site of intron *** analyses revealed that neither aberrant PNPLA2 mRNA isoforms,nor ATGL mutated protein were detectable in patient’s ***,both patients presented early onset muscle weakness,in particular of proximal upper limb *** almost 15 years,muscle damage affected also distal upper *** is a NLSDM family,displaying a severe PNPLA2 mutation in two siblings with clinical presentation characterized by an early onset,but a slowly evolution of severe myopathy.

EPW is an open-source software for ab initio calculations of electron–phonon interactions and related materials *** code combines density functional perturbation theory and maximally localized Wannier functions to efficiently compute electron–phonon coupling matrix elements,and to perform predictive calculations of temperature-dependent properties and phonon-assisted quantum processes in bulk solids and low-dimensional ***,we report on significant developments in the code since 2016,namely:a transport module for the calculation of charge carrier mobility under electric and magnetic fields using the Boltzmann transport equation;a superconductivity module for calculations of phonon-mediated superconductors using the anisotropic multi-band Eliashberg theory;an optics module for calculations of phonon-assisted indirect transitions;a module for the calculation of small and large polarons without supercells;and a module for calculating band structure renormalization and temperature-dependent optical spectra using the special displacement *** each capability,we outline the methodology and implementation and provide example calculations.

Purpose–The working hypothesis,on which this paper is built,is that it is advantageous to look at protocols of robot rehabilitation in the general context of human-robot interaction in haptic *** purpose of this paper is to propose a new method to detect and evaluate an index of active participation(AC index),underlying the performance of robot-assisted *** is important for avoiding the slacking phenomenon that affects robot ***/methodology/approach–The evaluation of the AC index is based on a novel technique of assistance which does not use constant or elastic forces but trains of small force impulses,with amplitude adapted to the level of impairment and a frequency of 2 Hz,which is suggested by recent results in the field of intermittent motor control.A preliminary feasibility test of the proposed method was carried out during a haptic reaching task in the absence of visual feedback,for a group of five stroke patients and an equal group of healthy ***–The AC index appears to be stable and sensitive to training in both populations of ***/value–The main original element of this study is the proposal of the new AC index of voluntary control associated with the new method of pulsed haptic interaction.

PM_(10)Observed at a Meteorological Station in Beijing:Historical Trend and Implications

Inhalable particles(PM_(10)),with aerodynamic equivalent diameters that are generally 10 micrometers or smaller,are basic pollutants in many areas,especially in northern China,and thus the pollution from PM_(10)inhalable particulate matter is a growing concern for public *** long-term observations are necessary to evaluate the efficacy of PM_(10)reduction *** in the PM_(10)concentration from 2006 to 2017 at an observation station(NJ)in Beijing were recorded and *** average value±1 standard deviation of daily mean PM_(10)concentrations was 138.8±96.1μg m^(-3)for 1307 days(accounting for 34.7%of the total days),showing PM_(10)concentration exceeding the National Ambient Air Quality Standard(NAAQS)24-h average of 150μg m^(-3).Particulate concentration depended upon various meteorological conditions as also observed in this work:at low wind speed(4 m s^(-1)),the values increased by 49μg m^(-3)per unit of wind *** Beijing,air masses from northwest China,especially from the Gobi Desert and other desert areas,had net contributions to long-range transport of natural dust,enhancing the PM_(10)concentrations by up to 29%.Overall,PM_(10)mass concentration showed a significant downward trend with-8.0μg/m3/yr from 2006 to *** with higher fluctuations in recorded data,similar downward trends derived from the government released data were also found at the nearby *** result delivered a proof of efficacy for the reduction actions recently adopted to limit PM_(10)concentrations in *** significant difference of diurnal changes in PM_(10) concentrations was also found in two periods of 2006-2011 and 2012-2017,which might be due to the different contributions of fugitive ***,further efforts,especially on controlling fugitive dust,should be planned as the PM_(10) concen

The dual role of macrophages in the healing process depends on macrophage ability to polarize into phenotypes that can propagate inflammation or exert anti-inflammatory and tissue-remodeling *** scaf-fold geometry has been proposed as a strategy to influence macrophage behavior and favor the positive host response to ***,we fabricated Polycaprolactone(PCL)scaffolds by Melt Electrowriting(MEW)to investigate the ability of scaffold architecture to modulate macrophage *** human macrophages unpolarized(M0)or polarized into M1,M2a,and M2c phenotypes were cultured on PCL films and MEW scaffolds with pore geometries(square,triangle,and rhombus grid)characterized by different angles.M0,M2a,and M2c macrophages wrapped along the fibers,while M1 macrophages formed clusters with rounded *** bridges were formed only for angles up to 90◦.No relevant differences were found among PCL films and 3D scaffolds in terms of surface ***206 and CD163 were highly expressed by M2a and M2c macrophages,with M2a macrophages presenting also high levels of CD86.M1 macrophages expressed moderate levels of all *** rhombus architecture promoted an increased release by M2a macrophages of IL10,IL13,and sCD163 compared to PCL *** proangiogenic factor IL18 was also upregulated by the rhombus configuration in M0 and M2a macrophages compared to PCL *** interesting findings obtained for the rhombus architecture represent a starting point for the design of scaffolds able to modulate macrophage phenotype,prompting investigations addressed to verify their ability to facilitate the healing process in vivo.

The Durkan Complex is a tectonic element of the Makran Accretionary Prism(SE Iran)that includes fragments of Late Cretaceous *** this paper,the results of map-to micro-scale structural studies of the western Durkan Complex are presented with the aim to describe its structural and tectonometamorphic *** Durkan Complex consists of several tectonic units bordered by mainly NNW-striking *** main deformation phases(D_(1),D_(2),and D_(3))are distinguished and likely occurred from the Late Cretaceous to the Miocene–Pliocene.D_(1) is characterized by sub-isoclinal to close and W-verging folds associated with an axial plane foliation and shear zone along the fold *** phase records the accretion of fragments of the seamount within the Makran at blueschist facies metamorphic conditions(160–300℃ and 0.6–1.2 GPa).D_(2) is characterized by open to close folds with subhorizontal axial plane that likely developed during the exhumation of previously accreted seamount *** upper Paleocene–Eocene siliciclastic succession unconformably sealed the D_(1) and D_(2) structures and is,in turn,deformed by W-verging thrust faults typical of D_(3).The latter likely testifies for a Miocene–Pliocene tectonic reworking of the accreted seamount fragments with the activation of out of sequence *** results shed light on the mechanism of accretion of seamount materials in the accretionary prisms,suggesting that seamount slope successions favour the localization and propagation of the basal dé*** study further confirms that the physiography of the subducting plates plays a significant role in the tectonic evolution of the subduction complexes.
