Additive Manufacturing(AM)can provide customized parts that conventional techniques fail to *** important parameter in AM is the quality of the parts,as a result of the material extrusion 3D printing(3D-P)*** can be very important in defense-related applications,where optimum performance needs to be *** quality of the Polyetherimide 3D-P specimens was examined by considering six control parameters,namely,infill percentage,layer height,deposition angle,travel speed,nozzle,and bed *** quality indicators were the root mean square(Rq)and average(Ra)roughness,porosity,and the actual to nominal dimensional *** examination was performed with optical profilometry,optical microscopy,and micro-computed tomography *** Taguchi design of experiments was applied,with twenty-five runs,five levels for each control parameter,on five *** additional confirmation runs were conducted,to ensure *** equations were constructed to express the quality indicators in terms of the control *** modeling approaches were applied to the experimental data,to compare their efficiency,i.e.,Linear Regression Model(LRM),Reduced Quadratic Regression Model,and Quadratic Regression Model(QRM).QRM was the most accurate one,still the differences were not high even considering the simpler LRM model.

Increased ΤGF-β3 in primary biliary cirrhosis: An abnormality related to pathogenesis?

AIM: To investigate the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) isoforms in the peripheral and hepatic venous blood of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) patients. METHODS: We examined TGF-β1, TGF-β2 and TGF-β3 (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), in 27 stage Ⅳ PBC patients (27 peripheral and 15 hepatic vein sera), 35 early (Ⅰ-Ⅱ) PBC and 60 healthy controls. As disease controls 28 hepatitis C virus (HCV) cirrhosis (28 peripheral and 17 hepatic vein serum), 44 chronic HCV hepatitis and 38 HCV-related hepatocellular carcinomas were included. We also tested liver tissue by immunohistochemistry to identify localization of TGF isoforms. RESULTS: TGF-β1 was significantly decreased in all cirrhotics (PBC Ⅲ-Ⅳ: median 13.4 ng/mL; range, 7.4-26.2, HCV cirrhosis: 11.6 ng/mL; range, 5.0-33.8), compared to controls (30.9 ng/mL; range, 20.9-37.8). TGF-β2 was increased in viral cirrhosis but not in PBC and chronic hepatitis. TGF-β3 (47.2 pg/mL; range, 27.0-79.7 in healthy controls) was increased in early and late PBC (Ⅰ-Ⅱ: 94.3 pg/mL; range, 41.5-358.6; Ⅲ-Ⅳ: 152.8 pg/mL; range, 60.4-361.2; P < 0.001) and decreased in viral cirrhosis (37.4 pg/mL; range, 13.3-84.0; P < 0.05). Hepatic vein TGF-β levels were analogous to those in peripheral blood. Immunohistochemistry identified all isoforms in portal tract lymphocytes, sinusoidal cells and cholangiocytes. TGF-β3 was additionally overexpressed in hepatocytes in PBC patients. CONCLUSION: The serum profile of TGF-β isoforms is different in cirrhotics. Increased TGF-β3 is characteristic of PBC. These findings may be related to the immunological abnormalities of PBC.

Ultrahigh-resolution nonlinear optical imaging of the armchair orientation in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides

We used nonlinear laser scanning optical microscopy to study atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)and revealed,with unprecedented resolution,the orientational distribution of armchair directions and their degree of organization in the two-dimensional(2D)crystal *** particular,we carried out polarization-resolved second-harmonic generation(PSHG)imaging for monolayer WS2 and obtained,with high-precision,the orientation of the main crystallographic axis(armchair orientation)for each individual 120×120 nm^(2) pixel of the 2D crystal *** nanoscale resolution was realized by fitting the experimental PSHG images,obtained with sub-micron precision,to a new generalized theoretical model that accounts for the nonlinear optical properties of *** enabled us to distinguish between different crystallographic domains,locate boundaries and reveal fine *** a consequence,we can calculate the mean orientational average of armchair angle distributions in specific regions of interest and define the corresponding standard deviation as a figure-of-merit for the 2D crystal quality.

Peri-nuclear antibodies correlate with survival in Greek primary biliary cirrhosis patients

AIM:To investigate possible associations of anti-nuclear envelope antibody(ANEA)with disease severity and survival in Greek primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC)***:Serum samples were collected at diagnosis from 147 PBC patients(85%female),who were followed-up for a median 89.5 mo(range 1-240).ANEA were detected with indirect immunofluorescence on 1% formaldehyde fixed Hep2 cells,and anti-gp210 antibodies were detected using an enzyme linked immunosorbent *** were correlated with clinical data,histology,and ***:ANEA were detected in 69/147(46.9%) patients and 31/147(21%)were also anti-gp210 *** ANEA positive patients were at a more advanced histological stage(Ⅰ-Ⅱ/Ⅲ-Ⅳ56.5%/43.5% vs 74.4%/25.6%,P=0.005)compared to the ANEA negative *** had a higher antimitochondrial antibodies(AMA)titer(≤1:160/>1:160 50.7%/49.3%vs 71.8%/28.2%,P=0.001)and a lower survival time(91.7 ±50.7 mo vs 101.8±55 mo,P=0.043).Moreover,they had more advanced fibrosis,portal inflammation,interface hepatitis,and proliferation of bile ductules(P =0.008,P=0.008,P=0.019,and P=0.027,respectively).They also died more frequently of hepatic failure and/or hepatocellular carcinoma(P=0.016).ANEA positive,anti-gp210 positive patients had a difference in stage(Ⅰ-Ⅱ/Ⅲ-Ⅳ54.8%/45.2%vs 74.4%/25.6%,P= 0.006),AMA titer(≤1:160/>1:160 51.6%/48.4%vs 71.8%/28.2%,P=0.009),survival(91.1±52.9 mo vs 101.8±55 mo,P=0.009),and Mayo risk score(5.5 ±1.9 vs 5.04±1.3,P=0.04)compared to the ANEA negative *** positive,anti-gp210 negative patients had a difference in AMA titer(≤1:160/>1:160 50%/50%vs 71.8%/28.2%,P=0.002),stage(Ⅰ-Ⅱ/Ⅲ -Ⅳ57.9%/42.1%vs 74.4%/25.6%,P=0.033),fibrosis(P=0.009),portal inflammation(P=0.018),interface hepatitis(P=0.032),and proliferation of bile ductules(P=0.031).Anti-gp210 positive patients had a worse Mayo risk score(5.5±1.9 vs 4.9±1.7,P=0.038)than the anti-gp210 negative ***:The presence of ANEA and anti-gp210 identifies a subgroup of PBC pati

A RIEMANN-HILBERT PROBLEM IN A RIEMANN SURFACE

One of the inspirations behind Peter Lax＇s interest in dispersive integrable systems, as the small dispersion parameter goes to zero, comes from systems of ODEs discretizing 1-dimensional compressible gas dynamics [17]. For example, an understanding of the asymptotic behavior of the Toda lattice in different regimes has been able to shed light on some of von Neumann＇s conjectures concerning the validity of the approximation of PDEs by dispersive systems of ODEs. Back in the 1990s several authors have worked on the long time asymptotics of the Toda lattice [2, 7, 8, 19]. Initially the method used was the method of Lax and Levermore [16], reducing the asymptotic problem to the solution of a minimization problem with constraints （an ＂equilibrium measure＂ problem）. Later, it was found that the asyraptotic method of Deift and Zhou （analysis of the associated Riemann-Hilbert factorization problem in the complex plane） could apply to previously intractable problems and also produce more detailed information. Recently, together with Gerald Teschl, we have revisited the Toda lattice; instead of solu- tions in a constant or steplike constant background that were considered in the 1990s we have been able to study solutions in a periodic background. Two features are worth noting here. First, the associated Riemann-Hilbert factorization problem naturally lies in a hyperelliptic Riemann surface. We thus generalize the Deift- Zhou ＂nonlinear stationary phase method＂ to surfaces of nonzero genus. Second, we illustrate the important fact that very often even when applying the powerful Riemann-Hilbert method, a Lax-Levermore problem is still underlying and understanding it is crucial in the analysis and the proofs of the Deift-Zhou method!

Visual queries assist non-expert users to extract information from spatial databases in an intuitive and natural approach,making Geographic information systems comprehensive and efficient for a wide range of applications.A common visual means of querying takes the form of drawings or graphs,under which many spatial ambiguity and translation errors *** this study,common query attributes extracted from user graphs such as spatial topology,size,cardinality,and proximity are regarded under a conceptual moderation ***,the system/user may concentrate on various conceptual combinations of ***,time is incorporated to support spatiotemporal queries for changing scenes and moving ***,relative,and absolute scaling is possible according to the data-set and application at *** theoretic approach is implemented under a prototype user interface system,called *** this prototype,a user may extract scene-based relations in an automatically inferred fashion,or include single object-oriented relations when all possible relations seem ***,a natural language description of the query is extracted upon which the user may select the desired query *** on a spatial database demonstrates the concepts of predefined draw objects,scaling relaxation,conceptual abstraction,and scene,object-and textual-oriented transitions that promote query expressiveness and restrain ambiguities.

HIV entry inhibitors: a new generation of antiretroviral drugs

AIDS is presently treatable, and patients can have a good prognosis due to the success of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), but it is still not curable or preventable. High toxicity of HAART, and the emergence of drug resistance add to the imperative to continue research into new strategies and interventions. Considerable progress in the understanding of HIV attachment and entry into host cells has suggested new possibilities for rationally designing agents that interfere with this process. The approval and introduction of the fusion inhibitor enfuvirtide (Fuzeon) for clinical use signals a new era in AIDS therapeutics. Herewe review the crucial steps the virus uses to achieve cell entry, which merit attention as potential targets, and the compounds at pre-clinical and clinical development stages, reported to effectively inhibit cell entry.

Complications of modern pancreaticoduodenectomy:A systematic review and meta-analysis

Highly-sensitive and stable ozone and hydrogen sensing elements were fabricated based on well-crystalline rounded cube-shaped CsPbBr 3 microcrystals,synthesized by a facile solution process per-formed under ambient *** is shown that such elements demonstrate enhanced room tem-perature gas sensing ability compared to the previously reported metal halide and oxide-based *** measurements performed on these sensing components revealed high sensitivity to ultra-low ozone and hydrogen concentrations,namely 4 ppb and 1 ppm respectively,as well as a remarkable repeatability,even after a few months of storage in ambient *** ozone and hydrogen sensors were self-activated,as they did not require the use of UV or heating external stimuli to operate,and exhibited fast detection and short restoration *** such attractive properties along with the simple fabrication process could provide an easy,efficient and low-cost technology for the realization of future gas sensing devices.
