Substrate control in track registration and preservation:insights across the Triassic—Jurassic boundary in southern Africa

Tracks registration is influenced by the dynamic interplay between the pedal anatomy of the trackmaker,its behaviour,and the substrate conditions it interacts *** in substrate conditions,especially those linked to grain size and moisture content,often result in the most dramatic variations in track *** the upper Stormberg Group,main Karoo Basin of southern Africa,diverse trace fossils,primarily comprising Late Triassic—Early Jurassic dinosaur tracks,are *** studies have extensively documented individual ichnosites,investigating variations between sites over time,with recent studies suggesting that track abundance and anatomical fidelity increase *** the well-established link between substrate and track morphology,past studies have not specifically focused on substrate conditions,often emphasizing macro-sedimentary features ***,we examine the micro-sedimentary features of track-bearing units in the upper Stormberg Group using petrographic techniques to better understand the palaeosubstrate and its effect on fossil track registration and *** analysis revealed that very fine-grained sandstones and substrates modified by microbial activity tend to preserve tracks with greater abundance and/or higher anatomical ***,the prevalence of very fine-grained and microbially modified strata,and their associated track trends increases in younger stratigraphic *** the Triassic—Jurassic boundary in southern Africa,a boom in dinosaur track abundances is observed and credited to the proliferation of dinosaur populations during the Early *** findings,however,suggest that the observed local increase in track abundance(and anatomical fidelity)up-stratigraphy may be linked to substrate composition differences,which were ultimately controlled by large-scale changes in the palaeoenvironment from high-energy meandering fluvial to lower-energy aeolian-lacustrine settings in the L

The aim of this work is to evaluate the feasibility of applying the technology of oxidation-reduction potential （ORP） control on the municipal wastewater treatment system for nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Meanwhile the relation between the optimal ORP （ ORPopt ） and influent C/N ratio was evaluated, in which the influent chemical oxygen demand （ COD ） concentration was stabilized at （290 ± 10 ） mg/L, the influent total phosphorus （TP） concentration was stabilized at （7.0 ± 0.5 ） mg/L. The results indicated that：（1） the ORP in the second anoxic zone had effect on nitrogen and phosphorus removal capability, and the average percentages of phosphorus uptake in ANO2 zone （ ηa ） increased with increasing ORP, i. e. , increasing from 12. 0% at - 143 mV to 22.0%,30.0%,37.0%, and45.0% at -123, -111, -105 and -95 mV, respectively; （2） the ORPopt as function of influent C/N ratio could be calculated by the equation： y ffi 252. 73e〈 -x/3.39） _ 131.01 ; the maximum percentage of phosphorus uptake in ANO2 as function of the ORPopt could be calculated by the equation： y ffi -0.49e（x/15.58）＋ 1. 51. The ORPopt was the important process control parameter that must be optimized for operation of enhanced biological phosphorus removal （ EBPR ） system. Moreover, ORP sensor is very simple, and the industrial applications of this strategy is practical.

This study by Chui et al adds further important evidence in the treatment of highgrade pancreatic injuries and endorses the concept of the model of pancreatic trauma care designed to optimize treatment,minimize morbidity and enhance survival in patients with complex pancreatic *** the authors have demonstrated favorable outcomes based on their limited experience of 5 patients who underwent a pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD),including 2 patients who were“unstable”and did not have damage control surgery(DCS),we would caution against the general recommendations promoting index PD without DCS in“unstable”grade 5 pancreatic head injuries.

The standard approach to tackling computer vision problems is to train deep convolutional neural network(CNN)models using large-scale image datasets that are representative of the target ***,in many scenarios,it is often challenging to obtain sufficient image data for the target *** augmentation is a way to mitigate this challenge.A common practice is to explicitly transform existing images in desired ways to create the required volume and variability of training data necessary to achieve good generalization *** situations where data for the target domain are not accessible,a viable workaround is to synthesize training data from scratch,i.e.,synthetic data *** paper presents an extensive review of synthetic data augmentation *** covers data synthesis approaches based on realistic 3D graphics modelling,neural style transfer(NST),differential neural rendering,and generative modelling using generative adversarial networks(GANs)and variational autoencoders(VAEs).For each of these classes of methods,we focus on the important data generation and augmentation techniques,general scope of application and specific use-cases,as well as existing limitations and possible ***,we provide a summary of common synthetic datasets for training computer vision models,highlighting the main features,application domains and supported ***,we discuss the effectiveness of synthetic data augmentation *** this is the first paper to explore synthetic data augmentation methods in great detail,we are hoping to equip readers with the necessary background information and in-depth knowledge of existing methods and their attendant issues.

Objective:To assess the effect of leaf extract of Persicaria lanigera on cotton pellet-induced granuloma tissue formation and acetic acid-induced ulcerative ***:Rats were randomly divided into six groups:normal control,negative control,positive control(dexamethasone or sulfasalazine)as well as Persicaria lanigera(100-600 mg/kg)-treated *** effects of the extracts on body weight,antioxidant,and hematological parameters,as well as mast cell proliferation,were *** addition,a histological evaluation was ***:Persicaria lanigera extract significantly decreased the mean exudate amount and suppressed granuloma tissue formation in a concentration-dependent manner in rats(P<0.05).Additionally,the extract significantly increased body weight,improved hematological profile,reduced the disease activity index score and malondialdehyde level,as well as enhanced catalase and superoxide dismutase activities(P<0.05).Histological evaluation showed Persicaria lanigera extract alleviated acetic acid-induced colonic damages,as evidenced by decreased cell necrosis,edema,and inflammatory cell ***:Persicaria lanigera extract possesses antiproliferative,antioxidative,and anti-colitis ***,its underlying mechanisms of action need further investigation.

Purpose The aim of the study was to identify factors associated with prolonged time to return to full performance(RTFP)in athletes with recent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)*** Prospective cohort study with cross sectional analysis.A total of 84 athletes with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection assessed at a coronavirus disease 2019 recovery clinic gave a history of age,sex,type/level of sport,co-morbidities,pre-infection training hours,and 26 acute SARS-CoV-2 symptoms from 3 categories(“nose and throat”,“chest and neck”,and“whole body”/systemic).Data on days to RTFP were obtained by structured *** associated with RTFP were demographics,sport participation,history of co-morbidities,pre-infection training history,and acute symptoms(type,number).Outcomes were:(a)days to RTFP(median,interquartile range(IQR))in asymptomatic(n=7)and symptomatic athletes(n=77),and(b)hazard ratios(HRs;95%confidence interval)for symptomatic athletes with *** a factor(univariate,multiple models).HR0.05).Factors associated with prolonged RTFP(univariate models)were:females(HR=0.57;p=0.014),endurance athletes(HR=0.41;p<0.0001),co-morbidity number(HR=0.75;p=0.001),and respiratory disease history(HR=0.54;p=0.026).In symptomatic athletes,prolonged RTFP(multiple models)was significantly associated with increased“chest and neck”(HR=0.85;p=0.017)and“nose and throat”(HR=0.84;p=0.013)symptoms,but the association was more profound between prolonged RFTP and increased total number of“all symptoms”(HR=0.91;p=0.001)and“whole body”/systemic(HR=0.82;p=0.007)*** A larger number of total symptoms and specifically“whole body”/systemic symptoms during the acute phase of SARS-CoV-2 infection in athletes is associated with prolonged RTFP.

In this study, a homogeneous alkaline catalyst was used in the production of biodiesel from raw and refined castor oil feedstock. The effect of potassium hydroxide (KOH) as a catalyst between the two feedstocks, raw and refined castor oil was compared. The transesterification technique was utilized in this study, aiming to investigate the effect of different parameters, which include the reaction temperature, methanol-to-oil mole ratio, and catalyst concentration at a constant period of 90 minutes. The result revealed the performance of the KOH catalyst on raw castor oil yielded 98.49% FAME, which was higher than the refined castor oil which yielded 97.9% FAME. The optimal conditions obtained from refined castor oil were applied to raw castor oil because of the same properties. The fuel quality of castor oil and produced biodiesel were tested for physicochemical properties.
