Postnatal Total Serum Protein Concentration Influences the Health and Growth Parameters of Preweaned Female Holstein Friesian Calves

This study focuses on the effect of the total serum protein(TSP)concentrations at 3 days after birth on the health and growth parameters of preweaned female Holstein Friesian calves.A total of 165 female calves were enrolled and evaluated for morbidity which included diarrhea(D),respiratory disease(Rd)and omphalitis(O).Also,calves with more than one disorder in the same time were recorded as *** weight(BW)was determined at birth,30 and 60 days of *** samples were taken at 3 days after birth and TSP was determined using a digital Brix *** statistical analysis all female calves based on TSP concentration were grouped into 3 categories:1-TSP≥6.2 g/dL,2-TSP 5.8-6.1 g/dL,and 3-TSP<5.8 g/***,the average of TSP concentration was 6.38 g/*** prevalence of diarrhea,respiratory disease(Rd)and omphalitis(O)was 16.96%,7.88%and 4.85%respectively,in calves with one disorder and 6.06%in calves with D+Rd,3.64%in calves with Rd+O,3.03%in calves with O+D,and 3.64%in calves with D+Rd+*** the TSP concentration in calves decreased from≥6.2 g/dL to<5.8 g/dL the calf hood disorders increased in female calves with one disorder and with more than one *** female calves with fair to poor immunity(category 3-TSP<5.8 g/dL)were significantly more likely(OR 6.28,95%CI 2.91-13.5,p value<0.001)to be affected by diseases compared with female calves with excellent immunity(category 1-TSP≥6.2 g/dL).Also BW and average daily gain(ADG)at 30 and 62 days of life decreased as TSP concentrations *** female calves with TSP≥6.2 g/dL at 3 days of life had the greatest BW at 30 and 62 days of age(51.8 kg and 77.1 kg respectively)compared with female calves with TSP<5.8 g/dL at 3 days of life(46.6 and 70.6 kg respectively).Moreover,starter feed intake during the first 30 days of life,31 to 62 days of life and 1 to 62 days of life was greater in female calves with excellent immunity(TSP≥6.2 g/dL)than female calves with good immunity(TSP 5.8-6.1 g/dL)o

Effect of Extending Voluntary Waiting Period on Health of Holstein Friesian Dairy Cows

The aim of this of this experimental study to investigate the effect of 3 voluntary waiting periods (VWP) on health of dairy cows. A total of 100 lactations of 100 Holstein Friesian cows with high milk production (average 9.442 ± 620 kg) were randomly (based on the ear tags digits of cows) distributed to 1 to 3 experimental groups with VWP of 50 (VWPG50;n = 32), 100 (VWPG100;n = 34) or 150 days (VWPG150;n = 34). Observations relating to diseases of the cows were made by the farm veterinarian and research personnel. Were defined eight disease: puerperal fever, retained fetal membranes, displaced abomasum, metritis, clinical ketosis, clinical mastitis, ovarian cysts, and claw diseases. The experimental days (ED) were from 4 days in milk (DIM) to 100 days after the next calving. The experiment was managed at Dairy Research Farm ?imnic-Craiova January 2018 to December 2022. A clear set of clinical signs were used to define a case at the diseases without the need for laboratory confirmation. Values of Lactational incidence risk (LIR) median postpartum days at diagnosis and pairwise comparison of proportion between VWPs were calculated. LIR for puerperal fiver, retained fetal membranes, displaced abomasum, clinical ketosis, clinical mastitis, ovarian cysts and claw disease were 4;5;2;8;8;and 4% respectively. Numerically, cows with VWP of 100 and150 days had more disease cases compared with VWP of 50 days. The differences between experimental groups of cows regarding proportions of cows with disease cases were not statistically significant. Any of the eight disorders reported in this study was analyzed independently to other health problems. For all enrolled cows (n = 100) VWP was extended until 100 or 150 days postpartum with no effect on the lactational incidence risk for the eight disorders analyzed.

Microbiological Quality of Traditional Romanian Cheeses from the Rucar-Bran Pass and its Surrounding Regions

The traditional products＇ quality is often recognized based on organoleptic characteristics without considering the microbiological features, which bring a special note to these products＇ composition and aroma. It is especially the case of cheeses, whose taste varies from one geographical region to another depending on specific flora and technological processes used in traditional systems. The paper tries to bring new elements on the methodology used in order to elucidate some aspects related to traditional products＇ quality, products obtained by private producers in the Bra^ov district （Rucar-Bran pass）. Covasna district and Bistrita Nasaud district were analyzed organoleptically, physico-chemically and microbiologically samples of fresh cow cheese, soft cow cheese, smoked curd cheese, gaiter cheese and cottage cheese taken within the strategic and self-control program from individuals in the rural areas of Fundata, Poiana Sibiului, Sirnea, Pfirliu, Cristian, Cincaor, Sohodol, Ranov, Brarov, Bod, Roadea, Harnan, Prejmer, Soars, Rupea, Lunca Calnicului, Balanii, Mari, Bran, Buzaiel, Bacut, H~.lchiu, Fagraa, Moeciu de Sus, Purcaareni, Bran-Simon, Venelia de Jos, Vama Buzatului, lntorsura Buzaului, Vatrghia and Sita Buzaului.

Analysis and Evaluation of the Acrylamide Levels in Some Bread Assortments on the Romanian Market by GC-MS/MS

The acrylamide level of some commercial bread assortments have been evaluated. The influence of several flour types on the content of acrylamide in 14 samples of bread, purchased from 5 different suppliers from the market in bucharest, Romania was studied. For all bread assortments which have been analyzed for acrylamide, the International Commission of Illumination （CIELab） parameters, L＊, a＊ and b＊ have been also measured in an attempt to correlate the colour of the final product with its acrylamide content. Determination of acrylamide in bread samples was performed by Gas Chromatography coupled with tandem Mass Spectrometry （GC-MS/MS）, using isotope dillution calibration after derivatization （bromination）. The results revealed that the acrylamide level vary between bread assortments of different brands and bread assortments of same brand, but different lots. In the case of commercial bread samples, the use of whole wheat flours lead to formation of higher quantity in acrylamide （165.53 μg/kg）, compared to the use of white wheat flours （28.02μg/kg）.

Jujube(Ziziphus jujuba Mill.),or Chinese date,is the most important species of Rhamnaceae,a large cosmopolitan family,and is one of the oldest cultivated fruit trees in the *** originates from the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,the‘mother river’of the Chinese *** is distributed in at least 48 countries on all continents except Antarctica and is becoming increasingly important,especially in arid and semiarid marginal *** on a systematic analysis of the unique characteristics of jujube,we suggest that it deserves to be recognized as a *** summarized historical research achievements from the past 3000 years and reviewed recent research advances since 1949 in seven fields,including genome sequencing and application,germplasm resources and systematic taxonomy,breeding and genetics,cultivation theory and techniques,pest control,postharvest physiology and techniques,and nutrition and *** on the challenges facing the jujube industry,we discuss eight research aspects to be focused on in the future.

The Relationship Between the Circular Economy and Sustainable Waste Management in European Union

Modern life has contributed both to increasing living standards,increasing comfort and the development of society,but also to increasing the amount of waste that suffocates the planet and threatens the existence of present and future *** the solutions that are sought and that are included in various programs and policies,the concept of circular economy is one that is increasingly discussed when talking about the sustainable development of *** circular economy implies a reduction of the natural resources consumed due to both recycling and their fair *** the *** the foundations have been laid for policies aimed at waste management to ensure the application of the principles of the circular *** the importance that the quantification of the indicators for implementing the circular economy have on the elaboration of more efficient policies,but also on the determination of the degree of implementation of this concept,in this paper we intend to analyze the evolution of these indicators from 2010-2019,in the European Union using a customized version of the DPSIR *** analysis led us to the conclusion that although important steps have been taken towards the transition to the circular economy,there are still many aspects that need to be improved in order to achieve the proposed objectives through European policies.
