Preliminary studies on occurrence of monensin antibiotic in Bosque River Watershed

Water quality impact due to excessive nutrients has been extensively studied. In recent years, however, micro-pollutants such as pharmaceuticals and hormonal products used in animal agriculture have added an additional impact to overall water quality. Pharmaceuticals used in the poultry, swine, beef, and dairy industries have been detected in various environmental matrices such as, soil, groundwater and surface water. In this study, 26 surface water samples were collected throughout the Bosque River Watershed （BRW） with samples representing a range of land use conditions and locations of major dairy operations. Samples were analyzed using commercially available Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay test. Of the 26 samples, three samples consistently tested positive for monensin antibiotic with concentration ranging from 0.30 to 3.41 μg/L. these three samples were collected from sites that received varying amount of agriculture wastes （11.7% to 31.3%） and located downstream from sites associated with moderate levels of animal agriculture. the preliminary results suggest that there is a potential for monensin occurrence in the BRW, although initial findings indicate only very low levels.

Vibrational resonance in a multistable system with position-dependent mass

the occurrence of vibrational resonance(VR)in a dual-frequency-driven multistable system with a spatially varying mass modelling particle with position-dependent mass(PDm)and evolving in a one-dimensional symmetric periodic potential has been investigated and reported in this *** numerically compute and analyze the response amplitude,the effects of the PDm parameters(m0,a)on the potential structure,the occurrence of VR and the bifurcation of the equilibrium *** is shown that the PDm parameters,besides controlling VR,can induce unconventional resonance patterns through the variation of the potential well *** resonant states can be influenced through the cooperation of the PDm parameters and the external forcing leading the system from multiresonance state into single and double resonance *** contributions of the fixed rest mass m0 on the VR and the PDm-induced resonance are determined by threshold conditions imposed by the magnitude of the mass nonlinear strength a.

Crystallization kinetics of Sn_(40)Se_(60) thin films for phase change memory applications

the crystallization kinetics of Sn4oSe6o thin films has been successfully investigated using sheet resis- tance versus temperature measurements. thermal evaporation was used to deposit the films on ordinary glass sub- strates. the crystallization temperature for Sn4oSe60 thin film was found to be 156.6 -t- 0.3 ~C. In the as-deposited state, the sheet resistance was found to be 195 mf2/[2, this value declined to 1560 f2/[2] upon annealing. the value of activation energy obtained from the Kissinger plot was 0.62 ＋ 0.07 eV. From the results obtained, SnaoSe60 is a promising alloy for PCm application because of its high electrical contrast, high crystallization temperature, and relatively high activation energy.

We analyze a data set comprising 370 GW band structures of two-dimensional(2D)materials covering 14 different crystal structures and 52 chemical *** band structures contain a total of 61716 quasiparticle(QP)energies obtained from plane-wavebased one-shot G0W0@PBE calculations with full frequency *** investigate the distribution of key quantities,like the QP self-energy corrections and QP weights,and explore their dependence on chemical composition and magnetic *** linear QP approximation is identified as a significant error source and we propose schemes for controlling and drastically reducing this error at low computational *** analyze the reliability of the 1/N basis set extrapolation and find that is well-founded with a narrow distribution of coefficients of determination(r^(2))peaked very close to ***,we explore the accuracy of the scissors operator approximation and conclude that its validity is very *** work represents a step towards the development of automatized workflows for high-throughput G0W0 band structure calculations for solids.

Late-time Evolution of the Phantom Scalar Perturbation in the Background of a Spherically Symmetric Static Black Hole

the late-time evolution of the phantom scalar perturbation is investigated in the spacetime of a four-dimensionai spherically symmetric static black hole. It is revealed that the asymptotic tail of the phantom scalar field is dominated by the growth behavior t-（l＋3/2）eμt, which depends on the multipole moment l and the field moss but is independent of the mass m and charge Q of the black hole. this growth behavior is in strong contrast to the decaying tall of the usual massive scalar perturbation and shows that the external phantom scalar perturbation is unstable in the spherically symmetric static black hole spacetime.

Cylindrical and spherical Gardner solitons and double layers in a dusty electronegative non-thermal plasma with two-temperature electrons

A precise theoretical investigation has been made on the cylindrical and spherical （nonplanar） Gardner solitons （GSs） and double layers （DLs） in a dusty electronegative plasma （composed of inertial positive and negative ions, maxwellian cold electrons, non-thermal hot electrons, and negatively charged static dust）. the reductive perturbation method has been used in derivation of the modified Gardner （mG） equation describing the nonlinear propagation of the dust ion-acoustic （DIA） waves. the mG equation admits solitary waves （SWs） and DLs solutions for σ around its critical value σ c （where σc is the value of σ corresponding to the vanishing of the nonlinear coefficient of the Korteweg de-Vries （K-dV） equation）. the nonplanar SWs and DLs solutions are numerically analyzed and the parametric regimes for the existence of the positive as well as negative SWs and negative DLs are obtained. the basic features of nonplanar DIA SWs and DLs, which are found to be different from planar ones, are also identified. the implications of our results to different space and laboratory dusty plasma situations, are discussed.

Control of Wave Propagation and Effect of Kerr Nonlinearity on Group Index

We use four-level atomic system and control the wave propagation via forbidden decay rate. the Raman gain process becomes dominant on electromagnetically induced transparency (EIt) medium by increasing the forbidden decay rate via increasing the number of atoms [G.S. Agarwal and t.N. Dey, Phys. Rev. A 74 (2005) 043805 and K. Harada, t. Kanbashi, and m. mitsunaga, Phys. Rev. A 73 (2006) 013803]. the behavior of wave propagation is dramatically changed from normal (subluminal) to anomalous (superluminal) dispersion by increasing the forbidden decay rate. the system can also give a control over the group velocity of the light propagating through the medium via Kerr field.

the perovskite oxide La_ 1-xSr_xCoO_3 ( 0≤x≤0.5) series were prepared under different sintering conditions. Crystal structure was determined by powder X-ray diffraction and lattice parameters as a function of Sr-concentration x were obtained by using Rietveld method. the dc resistivity investigated in the temperature range of 80～300 K indicates that the electric properties exhibit a metallic-insulator (semiconducting) (m-I) transition for 0.2the samples with x=0.2 is close to the m-I transition boundary. the influence of sintering conditions on the lattice parameters, resistivity and the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature t_C of La_ 1-xSr_xCoO_3 for the cases x=0.2 and 0.5 was discussed. the change of the electric properties of semiconductor-like sample (x=0.2) with sintering temperature and sintering period is just opposite to that of metallic sample (x=0.5). Annealing in flowing oxygen can decrease the resistivity of semiconductor-like sample.

We have developed an event mixing technique to observe Bose-Einstein correlations （BEC） between two identical neutral pions produced in photo-induced reactions in the non-perturbative QCD energy region. It is found that the missing-mass consistency cut and the pion-energy cut are essential for the event mixing method to effectively extract BEC observables. A monte Carlo （mC） simulation is used to validate these constraints and confirms the efficiency of this method. Our work paves the way for similar BEC studies at lower energies where the multiplicity of emitted bosons is limited.

Effect of tritium reduction in determining energy gain by using R-matrix method direct laser fusion in D-t reaction

the laser fusion criterion is known as the ρR-Criterion, also called high-gain condition. this parameter is temperature dependent and can be calculated by R-matrix method. this method is applied for determining improved fusion cross-section for the reactions t(d,n)4He, 3He(d,p)4He, D(d,p)t, D(d,n)3He. In this paper the time dependent reaction rate equations for fusion reaction t(d,n)4He are solved and by using the obtained results we computed the fu- sion power density, energy gain versus temperature and ρR-parameter. the obtained results show that a suitable com- bination may be a deuterium fraction fD=0.65 and ft=0.35 which would lead 30% reduction in the tritium content of the fuel mixture, and this choice would not change the energy gain value very much. Finally, the obtained energy gain for D-t reaction by using R-matrix is in good agreement with other theories.
