This study of rainfall variation in the south region of Cameroon has as objective to evaluate the present climate trends in the south region using weather data from 1960 to 2010. To achieve this objective, daily and monthly rainfall data were collected from the Ebolowa weather station. Results of this study show that generally, the south has an average of 1807 mm of rainfall in an average of 165 days. Two rainfall regimes were recognized, the bimodal with four seasons: two dry and two rainy seasons and occupies 88% of the region climatic system. The trimodal with six seasons three dry and three rainy seasons and occupies 22% of the region climatic system. Despite this seasonal repetition, rainfall is experienced in all the months of the year within the 50 years’ study period, with constant seasonal displacement and compensation within the seasons. Generally, there is a constant decrease in rainfall and number of days of rainfall but rainfall is decreasing faster than the number of days and the rainfall patterns are more or less irregular.

The anti-inflammatory activity and the possible mechanism of leaf essential oil from *** were *** oil both led to a significantly reduction in the dimethylbenzene-induced ear edema in mice and the carrageenan-induced paw edema in *** anti-inflammatory activity of essential oil was observed both in the early and late inflammatory phase and peaked at 4 h after carrageenan *** oil significantly inhibibted the peritoneal capillary permeability induced by acetic acid in mice in a dose-dependent *** inhibition of prostaglandin E 2(PGE 2),histamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) production in the exudates of edema paw induced by carrageenin indicated the probable anti-inflammatory mechanisms of essential *** the essential oil and indomethacin resulted a relative lower inhibitation on histamine and 5-HT than PGE 2 at 4 h after carrageenan injection.

Background The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and the Omicron variant presents a formidable challenge for control and prevention worldwide,especially for low-and middle-income countries(LMICs).Hence,taking Kazakhstan and Pakistan as examples,this study aims to explore COVID-19 transmission with the Omicron variant at different contact,quarantine and test *** A disease dynamic model was applied,the population was segmented,and three time stages for Omicron transmission were established:the initial outbreak,a period of stabilization,and a second *** impact of population contact,quarantine and testing on the disease are analyzed in five scenarios to analysis their impacts on the *** statistical metrics are employed to quantify the model’s performance,including the correlation coefficient(CC),normalized absolute error,normalized root mean square error and distance between indices of simulation and observation(DISO).Results Our model has high performance in simulating COVID-19 transmission in Kazakhstan and Pakistan with high CC values greater than 0.9 and DISO values less than *** with the present measures(baseline),decreasing(increasing)the contact rates or increasing(decreasing)the quarantined rates can reduce(increase)the peak values of daily new cases and forward(delay)the peak value times(decreasing 842 and forward 2 days for Kazakhstan).The impact of the test rates on the disease are *** the start time of stage Ⅱ is 6 days,the daily new cases are more than 8 and 5 times the rate for Kazakhstan and Pakistan,respectively(29,573 vs.3259;7398 vs.1108).The impact of the start times of stageⅢon the disease are contradictory to those of stageⅡ.Conclusions For the two LMICs,Kazakhstan and Pakistan,stronger control and prevention measures can be more effective in combating ***,to reduce Omicron transmission,strict management

Sustainability of animal production system depends mostly on feed used. Therefore, the utilization of agricultural by product is one of the safe ways to attempt this goal. For this end, a study on the level of incorporation of cocoa pod husk on growth performance, haematological and biochemical parameters were carried out. A total of 80 young rabbits composed of 40 males and 40 females with an average weight of 824.30 ± 53.8 g and 826.09 ± 40.61g respectively. There were randomly assigned to 5 experimental rations in a complete randomized designed with 8 rabbits per treatment and each rabbit served as experimental unit. From the control ration R (0-);0% cocoa pod husks and R (0+);20% of untreated hulls, 3 other rations of which three (R1, R2, R3) were formulated with respectively 20%, 25%, and 30% husks treated with ash from bean haulms at concentrations of 12.5 kg/100 litters of water. The results revealed that the initial weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, were not significantly affected (p > 0.05) by the different treatments. However, total weight gain, daily weight gains and final body weight of rabbit fed R1 ration were significantly (p 0.05) was observed in the relative weights of some parts, organs and those of the abdominal fat of the rabbits. Similarly, no significant difference (P > 0.05) was observed for haematological and biochemical parameters studied. Biomaterials have been out of commonly used materials in biomedical applications in recent years. Today among the mostly-used biocompatible metals are especially Ni-Ti alloys. For conducting this study, having extensive usage area in biomedical applications, Ni and Ti materials were utilized for an alloy production. Following being mixed using a suitable mixer at 49Ni/51Ti %wt., the alloy was exposed to cold pressure of 200 MPa and sintered in a mold. In addition, the material gained porosity appearance thanks to usage of the synthesized (SHS) method and then the final shape of the specimen was taken using the method of wire electro erosion discharge machining (WEDM). Afterwards, the specimen was subjected to the biocompatibility test in in-vivo environment by means of on a 3-year-old female dog.

Lactose, the sugar naturally present in milk, provides energy to lactic acid bacteria used in fermented dairy foods. Increasing concentrations of lactose may improve survivability of lactic acid bacteria in the dairy foods and in human gut enhancing their probiotic benefits. Acid tolerance is an important probiotic characteristic. The objective was to determine the influence of lactose on acid tolerance of yogurt starter culture Streptococcus thermophiles ST-M5 and Lactobacillus bulgaricus LB-12. The M 17 broth was used for Streptococcus thermophiles ST-M5 and MRS broth was used for Lactobacillus bulgaricus LB-12. Lactose was added to both broths at 0% (control), 1%, 3%, and 5% (wt/vol). Both broths were acidified to pH 2.0. Upon sterilizing and tempering, both broths were inoculated. Acid tolerance was determined as viable counts in acidified broths after 120 minutes of incubations. Baculoviruses are large DNA viruses which have been widely used as expression vectors and biological *** recombination and Bac-to-Bac system have been the main methods for manipulating the baculovirus ***, we generated a synthetic baculovirus Ac MNPV-WIV-Syn1 which fully resembled its parental virus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus(Ac MNPV). Here, we report the modification of Ac MNPV-WIV-Syn1 into a novel bacmid, Ac Bac-Syn, which can be used as a backbone for Bac-to-Bac system. To achieve this, a vector contained a Lac Z:att Tn7 and egfp cassette was constructed, and recombined with a linearized Ac MNPV-WIV-Syn1 genome by transformation-associated recombination in yeast to generate bacmid Ac Bac-Syn. The bacmid was then transfected to insect cells and the rescued virus showed similar biological characteristics to the wild-type virus in terms of the kinetics of budded virus production, the morphology of occlusion bodies, and the oral infectivity in insect larvae. For demonstration, a red fluorescent protein gene Dsred was transposed into the att Tn7 site by conventional Bac-to-Bac method, and the transfection and infection assays showed that Ac Bac-Syn can be readily used for foreign gene insertion and *** Bac-Syn has several advantages over the conventional Ac MNPV bacmids, such as it contains an egfp reporter gene which facilitates visualization of virus propagation and titration;its DNA copy numbers could be induced to a higher level in E. coli;and the retaining of the native polyhedrin gene in the genome making it an attractive system for studying the functions of gene related to occlusion body assembly and oral infection.
