Distribution of atrial cardiomyopathy markers and association with atrial fibrillation detected after ischaemic stroke in the SAFAS study

Background Atrial cardiomyopathy(AC)is an emerging concept explaining the pathophysiology of cardioembolic strokes in absence of atrial fibrillation(AF).A definition based on the presence of electrical abnormality(P-wave terminal force in lead V1(PTFV1)>5000µV×ms),N-Terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide(NT pro BNP)>250pg/mL and/or indexed left atrial diameter(LADI)>3cm/m^(2)is currently tested in the ARCADIA(AtRial Cardiopathy and Antithrombotic Drugs In prevention After cryptogenic stroke)*** set out to estimate the prevalence of AC as defined in the ARCADIA trial,its determinants and its association with AF detected after stroke(AFDAS).Methods Stepwise screening for silent Atrial Fibrillation After Stroke(SAFAS)study prospectively included 240 ischaemic stroke *** markers were complete for 192 of them and 9 were not included in this analysis because AF had been diagnosed on *** A total of 183 patients were analysed,of whom 57%(104 patients)met the AC criteria(79 NT-proBNP,47 PTFV1,4 LADI).In the multivariate logistic regression,C reactive protein>3mg/L(OR(95%CI)2.60(1.30 to 5.21),p=0.007)and age(OR(95%CI)1.07(1.04 to 1.10),p34mL/m^(2),OR 2.35(CI 1.09 to 5.06)p=0029).Conclusion AC as defined in ARCADIA is mostly based on NT pro BNP elevation(76%of patients)and is associated with age and ***,AC was not independently associated with AFDAS at *** ARCADIA trial,which compares aspirin to apixaban in patients with embolic strokes of undetermined source with AC markers and must,therefore be analysed in the light of these limitations.

Lithium-ion battery State of Health(SOH)estimation is an essential issue in battery management *** order to better estimate battery SOH,Extreme Learning Machine(ELM)is used to establish a model to estimate lithium-ion battery *** Swarm Optimization algorithm(PSO)is used to automatically adjust and optimize the parameters of ELM to improve estimation ***,collect cyclic aging data of the battery and extract five characteristic quantities related to battery capacity from the battery charging curve and increment capacity *** Grey Relation Analysis(GRA)method to analyze the correlation between battery capacity and five characteristic ***,an ELM is used to build the capacity estimation model of the lithium-ion battery based on five characteristics,and a PSO is introduced to optimize the parameters of the capacity estimation *** proposed method is validated by the degradation experiment of the lithium-ion battery under different *** results show that the battery capacity estimation model based on ELM and PSO has better accuracy and stability in capacity estimation,and the average absolute percentage error is less than 1%.

Malaria is an infectious and communicable disease,caused by one or more species of Plasmodium *** are five species of parasites responsible for malaria in humans,of which two,Plasmodium Falciparum and Plasmodium Vivax,are the most *** Djibouti,the two species of Plasmodium are present in different proportions in the infected population:77%of *** and 33%of *** this study we present a new mathematical model describing the temporal dynamics of Plasmodium Falciparum and Plasmodium Vivax *** focus briefly on the well posedness of this model and on the calculation of the basic reproductive numbers for the infections with each Plasmodium species that help us understand the long-term dynamics of this model(i.e.,existence and stability of various eqiuilibria).Then we use computational approaches to:(a)identify model parameters using real data on malaria infections in Djibouti;(b)illustrate the influence of different estimated parameters on the basic reproduction numbers;(c)perform global sensitivity and uncertainty analysis for the impact of various model parameters on the transient dynamics of infectious mosquitoes and infected humans,for infections with each of the Plasmodium *** originality of this research stems from employing the FAST method and the LHS method to identify the key factors influencing the progression of the disease within the population of *** addition,sensitivity analysis identified the most influential parameter for Falciparium and Vivax reproduction ***,the uncertainty analysis enabled us to understand the variability of certain parameters on the infected compartments.

As part of the 4th industrial revolution, programmable mechanical metamaterials exhibit great application potential in flexible robotics, vibration control, and impact protection. However, maintaining a programmed state without sustaining the external stimulus is often challenging and leads to additional energy consumption. Inspired by Rubik's cube, we design and study an insitu programmable and distribution-reconfigurable mechanical metamaterial(IPDR-MM). A matrix model is developed to model IPDR-MMs and describe their morphological transitions. Based on this model, the reinforcement learning method is employed to find the pathways for morphological transitions. We find that IPDR-MMs have controllable stiffness across several orders of magnitude and a wide range of adjustable anisotropies through morphology transformation. Additionally, because of the independence of the directions of morphology transformation and bearing, IPDR-MMs exhibit good stability in bearing and can readily achieve high stiffness. The Rubik's cube-inspired design concept is also instructive for other deformable structures and metamaterials, and the current version of the proposal should be sufficiently illustrative to attract and broaden interdisciplinary interests.

Extinction selectivity determines the direction of macroevolution,especially during mass extinction;however,its driving mechanisms remain poorly *** investigating the physiological selectivity of marine animals during the Permian-Triassic mass extinction,we found that marine clades with lower O2-carrying capacity hemerythrin proteins and those relying on O2 diffusion experienced significantly greater extinction intensity and body-size reduction than those with higher O2-carrying capacity hemoglobin or hemocyanin *** findings suggest that animals with high O2-carrying capacity obtained the necessary O2 even under hypoxia and compensated for the increased energy requirements caused by ocean acidification,which enabled their survival during the Permian-Triassic mass ***,high O2-carrying capacity may have been crucial for the transition from the Paleozoic to the Modern Evolutionary Fauna.

Because the volatile content of isoamyl alcohol increases sharply on the seventh day of wheat mildew infection,isoamyl alcohol can be used as an early biomarker of wheat mildew ***,only a few sensors for isoamyl alcohol detection have been reported,and these sensors still suffer from low sensitivity and poor moisture ***,the isoamyl alcohol sensitivity of 5 at%Er@LaFeO_(3)(ELFO)was enhanced by loading Ag nanoparticles on the surface of the ELFO microspheres,while the optimal operating temperature was *** moisture resistance of Ag/ELFO was improved by the incorporation of g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets(NSs)on the surface of Ag/ELFO through electrostatic *** the requirements for practical applications in grain granaries,the sensing behavior of a Ag/ELFO-based sensor incorporating g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs at 20%relative humidity(RH)was systematically studied,and the sensor demonstrated excellent repeatability,long-term stability,and superior selectivity(791 at 50 ppm)for isoamyl alcohol with a low limit of detection(LOD=75 ppb).Furthermore,the practical results obtained for wheat at different mildew stages further confirmed the potential of the g-C_(3)N_(4)/Ag/ELFO-based sensor for monitoring the early mildew stage of *** work may offer guidance for enhancing the moisture resistance of gas-sensitive materials through the strategy of employing composite nanomaterials.

The present work proposed a new method for the modeling by the finite element method of the acoustic propagation problems in infinite axisymmetric cylindrical guides lined with locally reacting absorbent materials without flow. The method deals with the development of an efficient transparent boundary condition based on DtN operators. The method developed in this study is successfully applied to a straight axisymmetric lined guide by imposing a mode on one of the artificial boundaries of the truncated guide. The results are in good agreement with analytical solutions. Applying the method for a non-uniform axisymmetric lined guide which is a complex case, proved its effectiveness and the results compared to those of PML layers are in very good agreement.
