Blockchain,like any other complex technology,needs a strong testing methodology to support its evolution in both research and development *** up meaningful tests for permissionless blockchain technology is a notoriously complex task for several reasons:software is complex,a large number of nodes are involved,the network is non-ideal,*** usually adopt small virtual laboratories or costly real devnets based on real *** usually prefer simulations of a large number of nodes based on simplified *** this paper,we aim to obtain the advantages of both approaches,i.e.,performing large,realistic,inexpensive,and flexible experiments,using real blockchain software within a virtual *** do that,we address the challenge of running large blockchain networks in a single physical machine,leveraging Linux and *** analyze a number of problems that arise when large blockchain networks are emulated,and we provide technical solutions for all of ***,we describe two experiences of emulating fairly large blockchain networks on a single machine:adopting both research-oriented and production-oriented software and involving more than 3000 containers.

Fruit size and shape are critical agronomical and pomological attributes and prime targets in peach breeding *** from the flat peach type,a Mendelian trait well-characterized at the genetic level,ample diversity of fruit size and shapes is present across peach ***,knowledge of the underlying genomic loci remains *** this work,fruit size and shape were assessed in a collection of non-flat peach accessions and selections,under controlled fruit load *** architecture of these traits was then dissected by combining association and linkage mapping,revealing a major locus on the proximal end of chromosome 6(qSHL/Fs6.1)explaining a large proportion of phenotypic variability for longitudinal shape and also affecting fruit size.A second major locus for fruit longitudinal shape(qSHL5.1),probably also affecting fruit size,was found co-localizing at locus G,suggesting pleiotropic effects of peach/nectarine *** additional QTL for fruit longitudinal shape(qSHL6.2)was identi fied in the distal end of chromosome 6 in a cross with an ornamental double-flower peach and co-localized with the Di2 locus,controlling flower *** assisting breeding activities,knowledge of loci controlling fruit size and shape paves the way for more in-depth studies aimed at the identification of underlying genetic variant(s).

Diabetic retinopathy(DR)is the most common complication of diabetes and the leading cause of visual impairment in the working-age population in the Western world(http://***/).One of the earliest events observed in DR is the impairment of retinal perfusion,caused by the constriction of retinal blood vessels,inducing biochemical and metabolic alterations,perycites/endothelial degeneration,and retina ischemia(Wong et al.,2016).Severe stages of DR include proliferative DR,caused by the abnormal growth of new vessels,and diabetic macular oedema in the central part of the *** is strongly associated with a prolonged duration of diabetes,hypertension,and hyperglycaemia but it can persist even after replacement of normal glycaemic status(Wong et al.,2016).

The study of animal personality has attracted considerable attention, as it has revealed a number of similarities in personality between humans and several nonhuman species. At the same time the adaptive value and evolutionary maintenance of different personalities are the subject of debate. Since Pavlov＇s work on dogs, students of comparative cognition have been aware that animals display vast individual differences on cognitive tasks, and that these differences may not be entirely accounted for differences in cognitive abilities. Here, we argue that personality is an important source of variation that may affect cognitive performance and we hypothesise mutual influences between personality and cognition across an individual＇s lifespan. In particular, we suggest that： 1） personality profiles may be markers of different cognitive styles; 2） success or failure in cognitive tasks could affect different personalities differently; 3） ontogenetic changes of personality profiles could be reflected in changes in cognitive performance. The study of such interplay has implications in animal welfare as well as in neuroscience and in translational medicine [Current Zoology 57 （4）： 491-498, 2011].

Bio-energy and biomass system is a new scientific field, very interesting, where there can find new available information; however, there is also place for other novelties. A lot of projects and experiences regarding to what mentioned above, lead to the credence that forest biomass assume a fundamental role, inasmuch they constitute a renewable resource, already or easily present, in the environment. The main purpose of undertaking this study is to analyse the obtainable biomass yields from black locust （Robinia pseudoacacia L.） SRF. Four different plantations have been situated on lands of different fertilities in Italy and Albania. Neither irrigation nor fertilization has been applied. Two different methodologies of biennial harvesting have been compared on black locust plantation situated in Italy. The first one is the contemporary cutting and chipping, while the second with cutting, field seasoning of trees and then chipping. In Albania the analyses of planted trees were mainly focused on height and diameter growth. They revealed a good continuation which means that the bed conditions of abandoned terrain, and climate considering the extended drought period of last summer, don＇t affect the growth.

Conceptual Hydrogeological Model and Groundwater Resource Estimation in a Complex Hydrothermal Area: The Case of the Viterbo Geothermal Area (Central Italy)

The conceptual hydrogeological model of the Viterbo thermal area in central Italy and the yield of the groundwater sys- tem have been examined. This area is of great geothermal interest. Through new investigations, three overlapping aquifers have been found. This study examines in detail the two shallower aquifers, characterized by different hydraulic and chemical characteristics. The first aquifer is related to the regional groundwater flow of the Cimino-Vico volcanic system and is generally characterized by cold, fresh waters used for irrigation and drinking water supply. The second aquifer, i.e. the thermal aquifer, supply thermal spas and public pools;it is present where the local hydrostratigraphic, structural and geothermal conditions permit a relatively active flow of higher salinity thermal waters (40?C - 62?C). These two aquifers interact vertically and laterally, giving rise to mixed waters circulating in the first aquifer. The first aquifer is recharged by direct infiltration and inflow from regional groundwater, as well as inflow from the second aquifer. The yield of the thermal aquifer is at least 170 L/s, discharging into thermal springs and wells, besides feeding the shallow aquifer vertically and laterally. Even if a future development of the second aquifer is potentially achievable on a global scale, the exploitation of the thermal waters is strictly dependent on the specific local hydrogeological equilibrium between the overlapping aquifers, different from place to place. The case study highlights that, in the volcanic hydrogeological environment, one of the most stringent constraints in determining the correct usage of a resource is the variable level of interaction of groundwater with different qualities.
