Dear Editor, Carcinoid tumors have been described in a large range of organs, but they most commonly involve the gastrointestinal and bronchopulmonary systems.1 These tumors of the testis are rare entity comprising 〈1% of all testis tumors and can arise as a metastasis from an extratesticular primary as a part of a teratoma or as primary tumor.2 Patients affected by carcinoid tumors present symptoms of carcinoid syndrome, such as diarrhea, flushings, and bronchospasm.3 We report a first case described in scientific literature of primary bilateral synchronous testicular carcinoid tumor that does not associated with carcinoid syndrome. Reducing CH4 and N20 emissions from rice cropping systems while sustaining production levels with less water requires a better understanding of the key processes involved. Alternate wetting and drying （AWD） irrigation is one promising practice that has been shown to reduce CH4 emissions. However, little is known about the impact of this practice on N20 emissions, in particular under Mediterranean climate. To close this knowledge gap, we assessed how AWD influenced grain yield, fluxes and annual budgets of CH4 and N20 emissions, and global warming potential （GWP） in Italian rice systems over a 2-year period. Overall, a larger GWP was observed under AWD, as a result of high N20 emissions which offset reductions in CH4 emissions. In the first year, with 70% water reduction, the yields were reduced by 33%, CH4 emissions decreased by 97%, while N20 emissions increased by more than 5-fold under AWD as compared to PF; in the second year, with a 40% water saving, the reductions of rice yields and CH4 emissions （13% and 11%, respectively） were not significant, but N20 fluxes more than doubled. The transition from anaerobic to aerobic soil conditions resulted in the highest N20 fluxes under AWD. The duration of flooding, transition to aerobic conditions, water level above the soil surface, and the relative timing between fertilization and flooding were the main drivers affecting greenhouse gas mitigation potential under AWD and should be carefully planned through site-specific management options.

Among individuals with known alcohol use disorder(AUD),the prevalence of alcoholic fatty liver disease(AFLD)is present in 25-90%of cases(1).Shroff et al.(1)report that the annual progression to cirrhosis is 3%in the presence of AFLD,10%in case of alcohol-related steatohepatitis(ASH)and 8%with any grade of pre-cirrhotic ***-related liver disease(ALD)is the cause of 36%of cases of cirrhosis in the United States and nearly one half of cirrhosis-related deaths worldwide(1).Ethanol is a recognized carcinogen for several malignancies with the risk starting at low dose(10 gr/1 unit/day)(2).The link between alcohol consumption(AC)and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is well known:various evaluations carried out by both USA and Italian groups indicate that such a correlation is present in 32%to 45%of cases(2).With the reduction of hepatitis C virus(HCV)cases,AC will become the main cause of HCC in Western ***,ALD and metabolic syndrome(MS)are currently the main causes of liver transplantation(LT)(3).

Dear Editor, We retrospectively evaluated the patients who underwent radical prostatectomy （RP） for prostate cancer （PCa） if the interval between PB and RP had any impact on immediate outcomes after surgery treatment. The study population comprised 473 patients with localized or locally advanced PCa （clinical stage Tlc to T3c） diagnosed via a transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy （TPB） conducted by three urologists.

The alkali-basalt and basaltic trachy-andesites volcanic rocks of south Marzanabad were erupted during Cretaceous in central Alborz, which is regarded as the northern part of the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt. Based on petrography and geochemistry, en route fractional crystallization of ascending magma was an important process in the evolution of the volcanic rocks. Geochemical characteristics imply that the south Marzanabad alkaline basaltic magma was originated from the asthenospheric mantle source, whereas the high ratios of （La/Yb）N and （Dy/Yb）N are related to the low degree of partial melting from the garnet bearing mantle source. Enrichment pattern of Nb and depletion of Rb, K and Y, are similar to the OIB pattern and intraplate alkaline magmatic rocks. The K/Nb and Zr/Nb ratios of volcanic rocks range from 62 to 588 and from 4.27 to 9 respectively, that are some higher in more evolved samples which may reflect minor crustal contamination. The isotopic ratios of Sr and Nd respectively vary from 0.70370 to 0.704387 and from 0.51266 to 0.51281 that suggest the depleted mantle as a magma source. The development of south Marzanabad volcanic rocks could be related to the presence of extensional phase, upwelling and decompressional melting of asthenospheric mantle in the rift basin which made the alkaline magmatism in Cretaceous, in northern central Alborz of lran.

AIM:To study the short-term outcome of patients treated with laparoscopic right colectomy and how intracorporeal anastomosis has improved the ***:We retrospectively examined all patients affected by colorectal cancer who underwent a laparoscopic right colectomy between January 2006 and December 2010 in our *** evaluation criteria were:diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma at presurgical biopsy,elective surgery,and the same *** excluded:emergency surgery,conversions from laparotomic colectomy,and other *** endpoints we examined were:surgical time,number of lymph nodes removed,length of stay(removal of nasogastric tube,bowel movements,gas evacuation,solid and liquid feeding,hospitalization),and major ***-two patients were divided into two groups:intracorporeal anastomosis(39 patients)and extracorporeal anastomosis(33 patients).RESULTS:Significant differences were observed between intracorporeal vs extracorporeal anastomosis,respectively,for surgical times(186.8 min vs 184.1 min,P diet(3.5 d vs 4.5 d,P diet(4.6 d vs 5.7 d,P ding faster recovery of nutrition,faster recovery of intestinal function,and shorter hospitalization than extracorporeal ***:Short-term outcomes favor intracorporeal anastomosis,confirming that a less traumatic surgical approach improves patient outcome.

Graphe ne nano sheets are a promising scaffold to accommodate S for achievi ng high performa nee Li/S battery. Nano sheet activation is used as a viable strategy to induce a micropore system and further improve the battery performance. Accordingly, chemical activation methods dominate despite the need of multiple stages, which slow down the process in addition to making them tiresome. Here, a three-dimensional (3D) N-doped graphene specimen was physically activated with CO2, a clean and single step process, and used for the preparation of a sulfur composite (A-3DNG/S). The A-3DNG/S composite exhibited outstanding electrochemical properties such as an excellent rate capability (1,000 mAh·g^-1 at 2C), high reversible capacity and cycling stability (average capacity ~ 800 mAh·g^-1 at 1C after 200 cycles), values which exceed those measured in chemically activated graphene. Therefore, these results support the use of physical activation as a simple and efficient alternative to improve the performance of carbons as an S host for high-performance Li-S batteries.
