Hangloa granitoids form part of the wide range calc-alkaline Pan-African granitic suites within the Adamawa Yade Domain(AYD)in *** are several reports on metaluminous granitoids within this *** peraluminous suite has been locally reported and their petrogenesis is not fully *** and whole-rock geochemistry were used to study the petrogenesis/formation of granitic rocks within this *** results show that the granitoids are composed of quartzo-feldspathic,made up of granites,monzonites and quartz monzonites which were intruded in the Paleoproterozoic orthogneissic *** major and trace element compositions show that they are high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonites,with S-type *** molar ratio A/CNK is>1.1,while the ratio of CaO+Na_(2)O/Al_(2)O_(3) is generallyking them strongly *** REE shows enrichment in the LREE over the HREE,with(La/Yb)N varying from 11.9 to 53.32,(Dy/Yb)N from 0.77 to 2.13 and moderately negative Eu anomaly((Eu/Eu^(*))N range from 0.42 to 0.93).Most granite samples show depletion in P,with CaO/Na_(2)Oindicative of clay-poor metapelitic source,while the others show clay-rich metagreywackes *** strong peraluminosity,S-type affinity,high Ba/Sr,Ba/Rb and low Rb/Sr indicate they are *** compositional variation might be induced by the partial melting of different source materials followed by fractional crystallization of the granitic *** source nature requires fragments of Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary and metaigneous rocks derived from the collision between the north-central Cameroon block and the Congo Craton during the Pan-African.

Background:Pine savannas are primarily managed with frequent prescribed fire(≤3 years)to promote diversity of flora and fauna,and to maintain open,park-like conditions needed by species such as the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker(Picoides borealis).However,a knowledge gap exists in our understanding of bobcat(Lynx rufus)habitat selection in longleaf pine savannas and research is warranted to direct our future management ***:We examined bobcat habitat selection in a pine savanna managed with frequent fires at two spatial scales(i.e.,study area boundary[hereafter,landscape scale])and annual area of use[95%kernel density;local scale],and assessed effects of prescribed fire on bobcat habitat ***,we monitored 45 bobcats(16 males and 29 females)during 2001–***:We found differential habitat selection by *** the landscape scale,female bobcats were closer to mixed pine-hardwoods,young pine,and secondary roads,but farther from mature pine and hardwoods stands relative to *** found no difference in selection of agriculture,shrub-scrub,and primary roads between *** the annual area of use scale,female bobcats were closer to secondary roads,but farther from agriculture and shrub-scrub relative to *** found no difference in selection of mature pine,mixed pine-hardwoods,hardwoods,young pine,and primary roads between *** primarily selected for stands burned≤1.1 years ***:Our results show that bobcats exploit a broad range of habitat types in pine landscapes managed with frequent fire and commonly use recently burned stands(≤1.1 year post-fire),suggesting prey in many areas of this system are at risk of bobcat ***,we suggest land managers consider scale of selection by bobcats when developing habitat management strategies.

Background: Sugar moiety of macromolecules is today very well known for its implications in many biological recognition mechanisms including cell-cell, extracellular matrix-cell and/or bacteria-cell interactions. in this context lectins, which are carbohydrate-binding proteins displaying a high affinity for sugar groups of other molecules, are of a great importance, notably in immune response involving bacteria, viruses and fungi. As protein-carbohydrate interactions are often mediated by ions such as calcium, zinc or magnesium, we were prompted to study the effect of a thermal spring water (which contains this type of component) on interactions existing between: 1) osidic receptors of human normal keratinocytes and 2) two lectins greatly implicated in the immune response mechanisms (i.e. the dectin-1 and the langerin), and their ligands. Materials and Methods: in a first series of experiments, we studied the effect of increasing concentrations of a thermal spring water on interactions existing between glycosylated molecules and the osidic receptors expressed at the normal human keratinocytes surface. in a second step, and in order to better understand the putative effect of our thermal spring water on the immune response, we analyzed its effect on the interactions existing between the dectin-1 (implicated in the recognition of bacteria, viruses and fungi) and the langerin (expressed by Langerhans cells, the immune cells of the cutaneous tissue), and their ligands in a model using recombinant human lectins and appropriate binding molecules. Results: We showed here that our thermal spring water was able to reinforce interactions between keratinocytes osidic receptors and some of their ligands, in a dose-related manner: From 8% to 55% of increase with 10% to 30% (v/v) of thermal spring water. in the second part of our studies, we also showed that our thermal spring water was able to modulate interactions between dectin-1 and langerin and their ligands through a biphas

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor induced angioedema (AiiA) can vary from mild to life-threatening. A vast majority of cases of AiiA occur within a month of starting an angiotensin-converting enzyme-inhibitor (ACE-i). We present a 48-year-old male who presented with respiratory failure secondary to AiiA, after being on lisinopril for over 8 years. He had no previous complications secondary to lisinopril and aside from smoking, carried no risk factors for AiiA. Despite conventional treatment for angioedema, he had a prolonged stay in the Medical intensive Care Unit (MiCU). Following discharge, there hasn’t been a recurrence of AiiA since the discontinuation of lisinopril. The case is intended to caution that AiiA remains possible even late into a chronic regimen of ACE-i. This is a risk that shouldn’t be neglected, even with sparse risk factors or longer duration of ACE-i use. Conventional treatment is not currently in line with proposed etiologies of AiiA. We advocate for more clinical trials involving pharmaceutical agents targeting bradykinin accumulation.

The ternary magnesium hydride NaMgH 3 has been synthesised via reactive milling *** method employed neither a reactive H2 atmosphere nor high pressure sintering or other post-treatment *** formation of the ternary hydride was studied as a function of milling time and ball:powder *** purity NaMgH 3 powder(orthorhombic space group Pnma,a 5.437(2),b 7.705(5),c 5.477(2) ;Z 4) was prepared in 5 h at high ball:powder ratios and characterised by powder X-ray diffraction(PXD),Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM/EDX).The products formed sub-micron scale(typically 200-400 nm in size) crystallites that were approximately isotropic in *** dehydrogenation behaviour of the ternary hydride was investigated by temperature programmed desorption(TPD).The nanostructured hydride releases hydrogen in two steps with an onset temperature for the first step of 513 K.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most devastating solid tumors,and it remains one of the most difficult to *** treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer(MPC)is systemic,based on chemotherapy or best supportive care,depending on the performance status of the *** chemotherapeutical regimens have produced substantial benefits in the treatment of MPC:gemcitabine in 1997;and FOLFiRiONOX in *** improved the natural history of MPC,with overall survival(OS)of 11.1 ***-paclitaxel associated with gemcitabine is a newly approved regimen for MPC,with a median OS of 8.6 *** multiple trials,this targeted therapy was not efficient in the treatment of *** new molecules targeting the proliferation and survival pathways,immune response,oncofetal signaling and the epigenetic changes are currently undergoing phaseⅠandⅡtrials for the treatment of MPC,with many promising results.

Forest ecosystems help conserve the quality of water resources in aquatic habitats. The conservation of biological diversity in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems remains a communal concern. Aquatic ecosystems and resources are vulnerable but can be preserved and protected by forests. in sub-Saharan regions of Africa, water from ecosystems such as ponds still play important role in the livelihood of local populations. Water from temporary ponds is used by local populations for multiple needs; however, in this part of the world, the population is increasing, thus increasing human needs and activities and land use in the region. Land-use changes lead to deforestation, land degradation and the decline in freshwater, affecting human health and well-being. Forest degradation leads to the decline in ecosystem goods and services, particularly those related to watersheds. This study conducted in eastern Burkina Faso aimed to assess water quality of temporary ponds in protected forest areas (reserves) and surrounding villages. it was conducted in 61 temporary ponds where physical, chemical and biological variables were measured, such as water surface area, depth, transparency, macrophyte cover, pH, dissolved O2, conductivity, nutrient concentrations and algae biomass. The results showed that at p ient content (p = 0.00), and algae biomass (p = 0.04) were significantly higher outside reserves than inside reserves. in contrast, macrophyte cover (mean cover percentages 53 vs. 44.5%) and water transparency (p = 0.02) were higher inside reserves. The variations in conductivity and pH were not significant. All trends showed the influences of human activities on water characteristics and the role forests and land cover had in preventing negative human impacts and disturbance of temporary ponds.
