The petrogeochemical analysis of the granitoids of Mount Fouimba and Mount Goma in the Seguela region (central-western C?te d’Ivoire) is the subject of this study. This analysis combines remote sensing, geophysics, petrography and geochemistry, in order to determine the major characteristics of the granitoids in the study area, and above all to participate in the detailed mapping of all the Ivorian terrains. The granitoids encountered in this region are essentially two-mica granites, granodiorites and porphyry basalts. Chemical analysis indicates that these granitoids are of the ferrous and magnesian type with peraluminous to weakly metaluminous characteristics. They originate from the mantle and were emplaced in an active continental margin context.

This paper deals with the security of stock market transactions within financial markets, particularly that of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). The confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data in the stock market being crucial, the implementation of robust systems which guarantee trust between the different actors is essential. We therefore proposed, after analyzing the limits of several security approaches in the literature, an architecture based on blockchain technology making it possible to both identify and reduce the vulnerabilities linked to the design, implementation work or the use of web applications used for transactions. Our proposal makes it possible, thanks to two-factor authentication via the Blockchain, to strengthen the security of investors’ accounts and the automated recording of transactions in the Blockchain while guaranteeing the integrity of stock market operations. It also provides an application vulnerability report. To validate our approach, we compared our results to those of three other security tools, at the level of different metrics. Our approach achieved the best performance in each case.

In this paper, we consider the following second-order nonlinear differential equations’ problem: a.e on Φ=[0, T] with a discontinuous perturbation and multivalued boundary conditions. By combining lower and upper solutions method, theory of monotone operators and theory of topological degree, we show the existence of solutions of the investigated problem in two cases. At first, α andβ are assumed respectively an ordered pair of lower and upper solutions of the problem, secondly α and β are assumed respectively non ordered pair of lower and upper solutions of the problem. Moreover, we show multiplicity results when the problem admits a pair of lower and strict lower solutions and a pair of upper and strict upper solutions. We also show that our method of proof stays true for a periodic problem.

Background: The diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa) relies on clinical assessment with digital rectal examination, serum PSA and histological examination. Limitations in our technical facilities, high financial cost of ultrasound-guided biopsy often prevent us from implementing the guidelines on the practice of prostate biopsy. Methods: We conducted a retrospective and cross-sectional descriptive study comparing digital-guided and ultrasound-guided transrectal prostate biopsy of 400 patients over a period of 12 years in the Yaounde Central Hospital. We reviewed files of patients who underwent digital and ultrasound guided biopsy procedures. Data was analyzed using EPI info 7.0. Parametric variables were reported as means and standard deviations and percentages and counts were used to report categorical variables. Results: Out of the 400 patients, 292 digital-guided transrectal biopsies (73%) and 108 ultrasound-guided transrectal biopsies (27%) were performed in patients who were suspected of having prostate cancer (PCa). Patients were aged between 39 to 90 years. Both procedures were effective in identifying prostate cancer. Gleason score between 2 to 10 detected prostate adenocarcinoma for 301 patients (75.2%). The complications included anal pain, rectal bleeding, hematuria and urinary tract infections, with an occurrence rate similar for both ultrasound-guided (2.25%) and digitally-guided techniques (2.5%). Seven patients (1.75%) required hospitalization for management of complications. The mortality rate was null. Conclusion: Both techniques are effective in detecting PCa with the similar complication rates. Digital-guided trans-rectal prostate biopsy still has its place in a resource-limited setting like ours.

Evaluation of Total Polyphenol and Flavonoid Contents of Fresh and Dried Pepper (Piper nigrum) from the Ivory Coast

The growing interest in the potential biological activity of polyphenols and flavonoids has highlighted necessity to assess their content in fresh and dried pepper from Ivory Coast. The total polyphenol content was determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu test and the total flavonoid content was also measured spectrophotometrically using the aluminum chloride colorimetric test. The results obtained indicate the total polyphenol levels of fresh and dried peppers are higher in the samples collected in Danane (0.8 ± 0.05 mg GAE/100g) and in Azaguie (0.4 ± 0.08 mg GAE/100g). The lowest concentrations were obtained with fresh and dried pepper samples collected in N’douci (0.22 ± 0.02 mg GAE/100g) and in PK 103 (0.22 ± 0.02 mg GAE/100g). The highest content of total flavonoids was revealed in the locality of PK 103 (1.85 ± 0.62 mg EC/100g) followed by the locality of Maféré (1.37 ± 0.25 mg EC/100g) respectively for black pepper and green pepper. Then, the lowest flavonoid contents were obtained in the dried pepper of Lopou (0.57 ± 0.03 mg EC/100g) and the fresh pepper of PK 103 (0.47 ± 0.03 mg EC/100g). The results obtained highlight the importance of these black spices as promising sources of phenolic compounds and could be used in pharmaceutical treatments and in food.

Introduction: In C?te d’Ivoire, people living with HIV are estimated to 460,000 with about 290,000 who know their HIV status. Index testing is a strategy for screening unidentified HIV carriers. This study aimed at analyzing the screening of contact subjects of people living with HIV at the anti-venereal health center of Treichville in Abidjan. Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study from January 2009 to december 2018. The target population was index patients and their sexual partners. After giving their consent, index patients and their sexual partners were interviewed during their medical visit. Data were analyzed using Epi info 3.5.4. The khi2 test was performed at 5% significance level. Results: A total of 114 index patients have been included in the study. The majority of sexual partners were men (sex ratio M/F = 1.5) with an average age of 43 years (±9.77). 87.7% of index patients lived in pairs. The analysis showed that 87.7% of index patients had disclosed their HIV status to their sexual partners and 94.3% of index patients invited their sexual partners to be tested. 85.8% of sexual partners had been tested. 19.8% of sexual partners who have been tested were HIV positive. All the 8 children of female index patients were HIV negative. HIV test acceptability was statistically associated with living in pairs (P Conclusion: Screening sexual partners from index patients has been an effective way to detect HIV carriers who did not know their status.

Background: Herbal medicinal preparations are used as dietary supplements for disease prevention and as alternative/complementary medicine. The growing interest in herbal medicine raises the question of its safety and efficacy. Numerous recorded cases of intoxication and toxicological studies reveal that medicinal plants can be toxic, which hinders their safe use. Plant intoxications related to a variety of factors include plant organs and many extraction solvents. Little toxicological data on medicinal plants is available. The need to investigate is important for safe use. Imperata cylindrica, a poaceae, is one of the medicinal plants for which few toxicological data are available. Materials & Methods: To expand toxicological data, water, 70% ethanol, and 30% acetone extracts of the leaves and roots, obtained by maceration and reflux methods, were used for phytochemicals molecules qualitative detection and toxicity test by the brine shrimp lethality assay. Results: The qualitative analysis of the different extracts revealed the presence of alkaloids, polyphenolic compounds, saponins, and polyterpenoids. The toxicity endpoint was lethal concentration 50 (LC50). The leaves’ extracts LC50 was between 489.78 μg/mL and 1066.6 μg/mL. As for the root extracts, the LC50 was between 341.98 μg/mL and 1530 μg/mL. Discussion: The different compounds’ presence justifies the use of Imperata cylindrica as a medicinal plant. According to Clarkson classification the root extracts are moderately toxic (LC50: 168.47 μg/mL), and leaf extracts are weakly toxic (LC50: 527.25 μg/mL). The extrapolation made in relation to the Gosselin, Smith, and Hodge scale, allows us to characterize the Imperata cylindrica root and leaf extracts as non-toxic to humans by oral route. Conclusion: This result can be a base for more precise toxicological studies.

In Ivory Coast,beekeeping takes an important place among the major economic *** contributes to improv-ing the population’s livelihoods thanks to its derived products which are honey,propolis,wax and royal ***-ever,the installation of honey bee hives could put pressure on wild bee species,which often live ***,these wild bees are excellent pollinators of cultivated and wild *** study aimed to assess the effect of honey bee hives on the diversity of wild *** methodology approach consisted of capturing bees in three different plots inside the forest fragment of the botanical garden located at the university Peleforo Gon *** first plot was chosen approximately from 10 m to an apiary containing ten *** two other plots were chosen to be 200 m and 400 m from the apiary,*** were captured once a month for three months using pan traps(UV—blue,yellow and white).A total of 17 bee species belonging to three families(Apidae,Megachilidae and Halictidae)were *** furthest plot from the apiary was the most diverse(H’=2.49)and that near the apiary was the least diverse(H’=0.11).Only,two wild bee species,Hypotrigona *** Thrinchostoma petersi,persisted inside the plot nearby the apiary where honey bees were most *** furthest plots from the apiary seem to have the highest diversity of wild *** findings are very relevant because they can be used for the policies of conservation of wild bees and the management of beekeeping activities.

Located in the north-east of Côte d’Ivoire, the Gouméré-Iguéla sectors were the subject of a geological mapping. These geological formations are located southwest of the Bui trench. In order to improve the petrogenetic knowledge of the study area, a multidisciplinary methodology integrating microscopic observations and geochemical analyses of major and trace elements was carried out on 15 samples considered as representative of the studied outcrops. The macroscopic and microscopic petrographic study allowed to highlight three major lithological units: 1) a volcano-plutonic unit, formed by gabbros and amphibole-pyroxenite, basalt and rhyodacite;2) a volcano-sedimentary unit containing pyroclastites (of basaltic and andesitic composition);3) a sedimentary unit (meta-sedimentary). These rocks are affected by a general metamorphism of green schist facies and a hydrothermal alteration with pervasive and vein alteration marked by the presence of quartz, calcite, epidote, chlorite and sericite. From a geochemical point of view, the results obtained indicate that the plutonites are gabbros while the volcanites and volcanosedimentary rocks have compositions of basalts, basaltic andesites, rhyolites and dacites. They have mainly a tholeitic character related to subduction zones with crustal contamination. The metasediments are arenites emplaced in an active continental margin environment.

Study of Photocatalytic Activity of a Nanostructured Composite of ZnS and Carbon Dots

Environmental pollution jeopardizes our existence. For this purpose, research is moving more and more towards the search for economic means and green chemistry to curb this phenomenon. In this context, the photocatalytic activity of zinc sulfide nanoparticles (ZnS NPs) and nanostructured composite ZnS/carbon dots (ZnS/CDs) was evaluated after their synthesis. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicate that the crystal structure of ZnS/CDs is identical to that of the cubic phase structure of ZnS, revealing that the cubic phase structure of ZnS was not altered in the presence of CDs. Indeed, there is no additional peak in the crystal structure of ZnS/CDs, revealing that the crystalline structure of ZnS is not responsible for the difference in photocatalytic activity between ZnS/CDs and ZnS NPs. Moreover, analysis performed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) shows aggregation of the synthesized ZnS and ZnS/CDs nanoparticles with an average size estimated around 10 nm and 12 nm, respectively. In addition, the reflectance study in the visible range shows a reduction in the sunlight reflection intensity using ZnS/CDs compared to the capability of ZnS NPs. Photocatalytic degradation tests reveal that ZnS/CDs have the best methylene blue (MB) degradation rate. Indeed, under the optimal conditions, the photocatalytic activity can reach 100% efficiency within 100 min and 240 min of sunlight exposure for the degradation of 7.5 mg/L MB using ZnS/CDs and ZnS, respectively. This improvement in photocatalytic activity of ZnS/CDs may be due to the presence of CDs which can permit to undergo a reduction of reflection properties of ZnS NPs in the visible range. These results show that CDs can play a key role in enhancing the photocatalytic activity of ZnS, and suggest that ZnS/CDs could be used as eco-friendly composite materials for the degradation of organic pollutants of similar structures in the aquatic environment under solar irradiation.
