Background: The Tubu are nomadic people who live in remote parts of the central Sahara, primarily in the Tibesti massif(Chad), and in both Northeastern Niger and Southern Libya. All of these areas are close to become conflict zones. However, no data about the Tubu's health and sanitary status are currently available, which would be of major concern if humanitarian interventions would become ***: In 1970, the "Mission Anthropologique Belge au Niger"(MABN) investigated a Tubu tribe named Broaya that lived at Seguedine and Djado on the northeastern rim of the Tenere desert. One hundred fifty-one adult volunteers answered an oral questionnaire and underwent a medical examination, followed by the collection of blood thin films and samples of urine and stool. The environmental fauna of medical importance was also ***: Albeit 43 year-old, these results have not been previously published. The estimated age of death for fathers was approximately 56 years, and that for mothers was 60 years. On average, each married woman had had 4.7 children. The overall perinatal mortality rate was 232 ‰, the overall infant mortality rate was 153 ‰, and the overall child mortality rate was 99 ‰. The mean height was 164.1 cm and 157.4 cm, the mean weight was 50.1 kg and 47.9kg, and the mean blood pressure was 131/78 mm Hg and 127/75 mm Hg for males and females, respectively. The physical examination found 6 cases of blindness(4.0%). Five subjects presented with an elevated blood pressure(3.3%), and 5(3.3%) displayed an abnormal thoracic auscultation evocative of tuberculosis or of an acute lung infection. The abdominal examination and renal palpation found 5 large masses(3.3%), and 2 subjects had a palpable enlarged spleen(1.3%). The blood thin films were fixed in methanol and subsequently examined in Toulouse. The search for blood parasites was negative. The urine samples were centrifuged and then microscopically examined in the field. No blood-fluke eggs were found.

本文系统地研究了10 T强磁场对Cu-33.33at.%Co不混溶合金液-液相分离行为的影响。结果表明,在强磁场作用下,分离行为发生了显著变化。由于静磁场能量以及变形的协调作用,富钴相和非铁磁性的富铜相均沿磁场方向被拉长。在垂直于磁场方向上,获得了基体上均匀弥散分布的富钴相组织。强磁场下热电磁对流所产生的阻力阻碍了富Co相的溶质运输,导致二次分解产生的富Cu相数量减少。此外,外加强磁场会导致快速凝固过程中过冷度的变化。在10T磁场和较高过冷度下,最终凝固的Cu-Co合金具有略低的饱和磁化强度、较高的矫顽力和剩磁能。本研究为强磁场下非混溶合金液-液相分离行为的影响提供了新的思路。

对比利牛斯等造山带典型弧形构造的分析表明,弧形构造是造山带尤其是板内碰撞造山带的普遍特征,可分为挤压逆冲-推覆主动型构造和推覆-滑覆被动型弧形构造。西昆仑—帕米尔是与比利牛斯Basque弧在空间形态、运动学及动力学特征等方面一致的挤压逆冲-推覆主动型弧形构造,推测该弧中部存在一巨大的底部低角度逆掩断层并由根部带向北延伸达100多公里,康西瓦断裂(基底缝合带)可能是主根部逆冲断层带。

Use of Landsat 8 OLI Images to Assess Groundwater Potential Areas in the Bamun Plateau: Cameroon Volcanic Line (CVL)

The problem of groundwater supply in the Bamun plateau situated in the Cameroon Volcanic Line exists and no proper solution has been found so far. This investigation intends to find the suitable groundwater potential zones by overlaying the geomorphologic map, lineament map, lineament density map and lithological map, using visual interpretation of Landsat imagery. The results reveal that about 1921 structural elements, ranging in size, from 30 m to 5.845 km with an average length of 671 m in the field. The total length of the mapped lineaments is approximately 1289 km. The most important lineament (5.845 km length) diagonally crosses the study area in the direction NNe-SSW. In addition to this trend, all others are smaller than 14 km. More than 92% of lineaments are less than 5 km in size and only 1.3% of them are larger than 10 km. Small lineaments are thus the most numerous. According to their directions, the lineaments listed are grouped into 18 directional classes of 10-degree intervals. The rosette of their directions highlights the preferred directions Ne-SW, N-S, e-W, NNe-SSW and eNe-WSW. Most of the lineaments clusters in the central part of the area are N20° - 30°e and N60° - 70°e trending lineaments. In this study, the Ne-SW trend dominates the structural trend followed by NW-Se and N-S. This can be an indication of the directions of groundwater movement in the area. Alluvial plain and valley have moderate to very good groundwater potential that occurs all over the study area. Porosity of the volcanic rocks varies greatly, but it is everywhere more porous than the underlying, unweathered bedrock. Analysis of size and shape differences between ancient and present-day Italian crania using metrics and geometric morphometrics based on multislice computed tomography

Objective To investigate the possible role of oligodendrocyte in learning. Methods By searching published expression databases, we identified a novel marker of newly-forming oligodendrocytes – the ecto-enzyme enpp6 – and used this to track oligodendrocyte differentiation in adult mice as they learned a motor skill(running on a complex wheel with unevenly spaced rungs). Results Production of enpp6-expressing immature oligodendrocytes was accelerated within just 2.5 hours exposure to the complex wheel in subcortical white matter and within 4 hours in motor cortex. Conditional deletion of Myelin regulatory factor(Myrf) in oligodendrocyte precursors blocked formation of new enpp6+ oligodendrocytes and impaired learning within the same -3 hour time frame. This very early requirement for oligodendrocytes suggests a direct and active role in learning, closely linked to synaptic strengthening. Running performance of normal mice continued to improve over the following week accompanied by secondary waves of oligodendrocyte precursor proliferation and differentiation. Conclusion We conclude that new oligodendrocytes contribute to both early and late stages of motor skill learning.

The Museum of Human Anatomy in Naples houses a collection of ancient Graeco-Roman *** aim of this study was to use multislice computed tomography(MSCT)to evaluate and objectively quantify potential differences in cranial dimensions and shapes between ancient Graeco-Roman crania(n=36)and modern-day southern Italian crania(n=35)and then to characterize the cranial changes occurring over more than 2000 years,known as secular *** authors used traditional metric criteria and morphometric geometry to compare shape differences between the sets of *** significant differences in size between the ancient and modern crania included shorter facial length,narrower external palate,smaller minimum cranial breadth,shorter right and left mastoid processes,and wider maximum occipital and nasal *** shape changes from the ancient to modern crania included a global coronal enlargement of the face and cranial diameters,with more anterior projection of the face at the anterior nasal spine,but also posterior projection at the glabella and the *** is not possible to determine whether these differences result exclusively from secular changes in the cranium or from other factors,including a mix of secular change and other unknown *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first MSCT-based study to compare ancient Graeco-Roman and modern-day southern Italian crania and to characterize shape and size differences.

本文旨在对苯胺和苯酚对大型溞Daphnia magna Straus毒性,进行定量结构-活性关系(QSARs)研究并进行相关的预测。由多元线性回归分析(MLR)方法得到的几个主要的QSARs关系模型揭示,在苯胺和苯酚对大型溞毒性中,正辛醇/水分配系数(1ogK_(ow))是1个决定性因素。而单纯的利用logK_(ow)进行模型建立并不能得到很好的结果,在logK_(ow)模型的基础上,通过引入其它极性和/或电性参数可以大大提前模型的稳定性和预测能力,本文中所引用的极性参数为价电子数(NVe),电性参数有苯环碳原子Mulliken电荷之和(Q_A)、最低非占据轨道能量(e_(LUMO))和最高占据轨道能量(e_(HOMO))。总体而言,通过引入1～2个参数即可获得稳定满意的关系模型。此外,引入5个参数可获得最佳关系模型[_peC_(50)=0.054NVe+0.394 logK_(ow)-5.863 e_(HOMO)+7.730 e_(LUMO)+0.182 Q_A-1.062,N=34,R^2=0.9328]。本文同时就与QSARs密切相关的参数进行了进一步讨论,为苯胺和苯酚毒性的分子机制提供了新信息。
