This study investigates the design and implementation of Flying Ad Hoc Networks(FANETs),a network architec-ture inspired by the mobile Ad Hoc Network(mANET)model,specifically tailored to support unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).As UAVs increasingly contribute to diverse fields,from surveillance to delivery,FANETs have emerged as essential in ensuring stable,dynamic communication channels among drones in *** research adopts a dual approach,combining rigorous theoretical analysis with detailed practical simulations to assess the performance,adaptability,and efficiency of FANETs in varying *** findings emphasize the ability of FANETs to manage network congestion effectively in densely populated areas,a critical feature for maintaining reliable communications in complex ***,FANETs demonstrate high potential to support critical applications,such as emergency response,disaster management,and public safety operations,where quick and coordinated action is *** study also underscores the importance of establishing a hierarchical structure among nodes within the network,which allows for more efficient data exchange and helps optimize the overall network *** this work,significant insights are offered into the design principles that can enhance UAV communication networks,providing a foundation for the development of more resilient,scalable,and efficient technological *** advancements could accelerate the deployment of UAVs across a variety of sectors,including logistics,agriculture,environmental monitoring,and *** such,this study not only contributes to the field of ad hoc networking but also holds potential for transformative impacts across industries where UAVs play an increasingly central role,promoting greater integration and operational success.

One-Dimensionality, Reliability, Distribution, and Correlates of the Brief Interactive Optimism Scale among University Teachers

The Brief Interactive Optimism Scale (BIOS-G), recently published, was developed to measure optimism based on the interactive personality styles theory in the general population of mexican adults. It has been validated in both the general population in mexico and other Latin American countries. This study aims to further consolidate the validity of the BIOS-G in a specific population. The objectives are to assess the psychometric properties of its items, validate its unidimensional structure, describe its distribution, verify its internal consistency, and examine its direct relationship with affective balance and positive affect, as well as its inverse relationship with emotional exhaustion and negative affect among mexican university teachers. The BIOS-G, the CESQT emotional exhaustion subscale, and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) were administered to a non-probability sample of 213 mexican university teachers. All items demonstrated discriminative power and internal consistency. The scale showed internal consistency (Green-Yang ordinal ω = 0.74 and mcDonald ordinal ω = 0.88). The one-factor model presented good to acceptable fit to the data, with an average variance extracted of 0.65. Its distribution was negatively skewed and mesokurtic. The BIOS-G correlated directly with SPANE’s affective balance and positive emotional experiences and inversely with negative emotional experiences and emotional exhaustion, with moderate strengths of association. Its mean score was higher in men than in women and correlated positively with age. It is concluded that the BIOS-G demonstrates internal consistency and validity evidence among mexican university teachers, and its use in this specific population is recommended.

Chronic pain, posttraumatic stress disorder, and opioid intake: A systematic review

BACKGROUND The literature suggests that there is a high degree of co-occurrence between chronic pain and posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD). An association has been found between PTSD and substance abuse. PTSD is a severe disorder that should be taken into account when opioids are prescribed. It has been found that the prevalence of opioid use disorder(OUD) in chronic pain patients is higher among those with PTSD than those without this *** To perform a systematic review on the association between PTSD, chronic noncancer pain(CNCP), and opioid intake(i.e., prescription, misuse, and abuse).mETHODS We conducted a systematic review following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and meta-Analyses guidelines. The Patient, Intervention,Comparator, and Outcomes(PICOS) criteria were formulated a priori in the protocol of the systematic review. A search was conducted of the PROSPERO database. In march 2019, searches were also conducted of 5 other databases:Pub med, mEDLINE, Psyc INFO, Web of Science, and PILOTS. The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network checklist for cohort studies was used to assess the selected studies for their methodological quality and risk of bias. Each study was evaluated according to its internal validity, participant sampling,confounding variables, and the statistical *** A total of 151 potentially eligible studies were identified of which 17 were retained for analysis. Only 10 met the selection criteria. All the studies were published between 2008 and 2018 and were conducted in the United States. The eligible studies included a total of 1622785 unique participants. Of these, 196516 had comorbid CNCP and PTSD and were consuming opiates. The participants had a cross-study mean age of 35.2 years. The majority of participants were men(81.6%). Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is a prevalent genetic disorder primarily affecting individuals of African descent and populations in malaria-endemic regions, with significant global public health implications. Sickle cell crises are their most common acute complication, characterized by episodes of intense pain and systemic manifestations that impair quality of life and impose a high healthcare burden. We present the case of a 19-year-old male diagnosed with SCA since the age of two, who developed a sickle cell crisis precipitated by right basal pneumonia. The patient exhibited sudden-onset, cyclic lumbar pain with progressive dyspnea. Initial management included multimodal pain control, volume optimization, and targeted antimicrobial therapy to achieve clinical stabilization. This case underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach to managing sickle cell crises, addressing both symptomatic relief and the prevention and treatment of complications. It also highlights the need for public health strategies promoting early diagnosis, access to disease-modifying therapies such as hydroxyurea, and interdisciplinary follow-up to mitigate the socioeconomic and clinical impact of SCA.

BACKGROUND Equations for estimation glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)have been associated with poor clinical performance and their clinical accuracy and reliability have been called into *** To assess the longitudinal changes in measured glomerular filtration rate(mGFR)in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease(ADPKD).mETHODS Analysis of an ambispective data base conducted on consecutive patients diagnosed with *** mGFR was assessed by iohexol clearance;while eGFR was calculated by three different formulas:(1)The chronic kidney disease epidemiology collaboration(CKD-EPI);(2)modification of diet in renal disease(mDRD);and(3)The 24-hour urine creatinine clearance(CrCl).The primary end-points were the mean change in mGFR between the baseline and final visit,as well as the comparison of the mean change in mGFR with the change estimated by the different *** Thirty-seven patients were included in the *** compared to baseline,month-6 mGFR was significantly decrease by-4.4 mL/minute±10.3 mL/minute(P=0.0132).However,the CKD-EPI,mDRD,and CrCl formulas underestimated this change by 48.3%,89.0%,and 45.8%respectively,though none of these differences reached statistical significance(P=0.3647;P=0.0505;and P=0.736,respectively).The discrepancies between measured and estimated glomerular filtration rate values,as evaluated by CKD-EPI(r=0.29,P=0.086);mDRD(r=0.19,P=0.272);and CrCl(r=0.09,P=0.683),were not correlated with baseline mGFR *** This study indicated that eGFR inaccurately reflects the decline in mGFR and cannot reliably track changes over *** poses significant challenges for clinical decision-making,particularly in treatment strategies.

CRISPR/Cas9 editing of the polygalacturonase FaPG1 gene improves strawberry fruit firmness

Firmness is one of the most important fruit quality traits in *** postharvest shelf life of this soft fruit is highly limited by the loss of firmness,where cell wall disassembly plays an important *** studies demonstrated that the polygalacturonase FaPG1 has a key role in remodelling pectins during strawberry *** this study,FaPG1 knockout strawberry plants have been generated using the CRISPR/Cas9 system delivered via Agrobacterium *** independent lines,cv.“Chandler”,were obtained,and all of them were successfully edited as determined by PCR amplification and T7 endonuclease *** targeted mutagenesis insertion and deletion rates were analyzed using targeted deep *** percentage of edited sequences varied from 47%up to almost 100%,being higher than 95%for seven of the selected *** analyses showed that 7 out of the eight lines analyzed produced fruits significantly firmer than the control,ranging from 33 to 70%increase in *** was a positive relationship between the degree of FaPG1 editing and the rise in fruit *** changes were observed in other fruit quality traits,such as colour,soluble solids,titratable acidity or anthocyanin *** fruits showed a reduced softening rate during postharvest,displayed a reduced transpirational water loss,and were less damaged by Botrytis cinerea *** analysis of four potential off-target sites revealed no mutation *** conclusion,editing the FaPG1 gene using the CRISPR/Cas9 system is an efficient method for improving strawberry fruit firmness and shelf life.
