Optimal Design of Hybrid Microgrid in Isolated Communities of Ecuador

In rural territories, the communities use energy sources based on fossil fuels to supply themselves with electricity, which may address two main problems: greenhouse gas emissions and high fuel prices. Hence, there is an opportunity to include renewable resources in the energy mix. this paper develops an optimization model to determine the optimal sizing, the total annual investment cost in renewable generation, and other operating costs of the components of a hybrid microgrid. By running a k-means clustering algorithm on a meteorological dataset of the community under study, the hourly representative values become input parameters in the proposed optimization model. the method for the optimal design of hybrid microgrid is analyzed in six operating scenarios considering:(1) 24-hour continuous power supply;(2) load shedding percentage;(3) diesel power generator(genset) curtailment;(4) the worst meteorological conditions;(5) the use of renewable energy sources including battery energy storage systems(BESSs);and(6) the use of genset. A mathematical programming language(AMPL) tool is used to find solutions of the proposed optimization model. Results show that the total costs of microgrid in the scenarios that cover 100% of the load demand(without considering the scenario with 100% renewables) increase by over 16% compared with the scenario with genset operation limitation. For the designs with power supply restrictions, the total cost of microgrid in the scenario with load shedding is reduced by over 27% compared with that without load shedding.

this paper discusses the relations between mass media and urban tribes, by Stafford Beer＇s viable system model （VSM）. During 1950-2010, the influence of media and advertising over individual decision-making processes has deepened of age range to which have targeted advertising and expanded for Western world, leading the culture diversity, naturally given, toward only one standardized culture prevailing nowadays. In the 1960s they were the women, then the young people during 1970s, and then children in the 1980s and during the 1990s over early childhood, when we learnt to speak （3 years old）, achieving brand loyalty among very young children and the brands of products for this age group. From this perspective, urban tribes have taken control of the lives of young people, offering a false freedom, at the moment of choosing ＂How to be yourself＂ from options given in the market as a ＂catalogue of predesigned identities＂. A phenomenon is so complex, so it requires a holistic framework able to make explicit its components and relations between them and the relationship with internal and external environment. In particular, the VSM provides a way to analyze communication＇s problems thus clarifying： how, when and where, repair and controlling into the organization, identifying strategies to improve decision-making. Given the recursive nature of the VSM, it is possible to navigate within the phenomenon, through different recursions＇ levels. It will help to define more assertive and effective policies by health authorities, education and government in general, and also help someone among young people to see themselves inside of a dynamic consumption and thus can leave the domain and enter into a recta-domain, with more wisdom and consciousness.

this paper is devoted to the class of inverse problems for a nonlinear parabolic hemivariational inequality. the unknown coefficient of the operator depends on the gradient of the solution and belongs to a set of admissible coefficients. It is proved that the convergence of solutions for the corresponding direct problems continuously depends on the coefficient convergence. Based on this result the existence of a quasisolution of the inverse problem is obtained.

A dark vector resonance at CLIC

One of the main problems in particle physics is to understand the origin and nature of dark matter. An exciting possibility is to consider that dark matter belongs to a new complex but hidden sector. In this paper, we assume the existence of a strongly interacting dark sector consisting of a new scalar doublet and new vector resonances,in accordance with the model recently proposed by our group. Since it was found in the previous work that it is very challenging to find the new vector resonances at the LHC, here we study the possibility of finding them at the future Compact Linear Collider(CLIC) running at■= 3 teV. We consider two distinct scenarios. In the first, when the non-standard scalars are heavy, the dark resonance is intense enough to make its discovery possible at CLIC when the resonance mass is in the range [2000, 3000] GeV. In the second scenario, when the non-standard scalars are light, the new vector boson is too broad to be recognized as a resonance, and is not detectable except when the mass of the scalars is close to(but smaller than) half of the resonance mass and the scale of the dark sector is high. In all positive cases, less than a tenth of the maximum integrated luminosity is needed to reach the discovery level. Finally, we also comment on the mono-Z production.

Single π0electro-production in the resonance region with CLAS＊

We report the analysis status of single π0electroproduction in the resonance region to study the electromagnetic excitation of the nucleon resonances. the study is aimed at understanding of the internal structure and dynamics of the nucleon. the experiment was performed using an unpolarized cryogenic hydrogen target and 2.0 and 5.8 GeV polarized electron beam during the ele and e1-6 run periods with CLAS at Jefferson Lab. the new measurements will produce a data base with high statistics and large kinematic coverage for the hadronic invariant mass （W） up to 2.0 CeV in the momentum transfer （Q2） range of 0.3--6.0 GeV2. Preliminary results will be presented and compared with the various model calculations.

Comparing AdS/CFt dipole model to HERA F_2 data

We apply an AdS/CFt-inspired color-dipole model which contains only three free parameters to describe the HERA data for the inclusive structure function F 2 at small Bjorken-x and *** found that the saturation scale in our AdS/CFt-based parameterization varies in the range of 1 ÷ 3 GeV becoming independent of energy/Bjorken-x at very small *** leads to the prediction of x-independence of the structure functions at very small *** the fitted parameters in our model,the predictions for F 2,longitudinal structure function,charm structure function and total photo-production cross-sections in the kinematic regions of future experiments can be given.

In this article,the authors consider a class of Kukles planar polynomial differential system of degree three having an invariant *** this class of second-order differential systems,it is shown that for certain values of the parameters the invariant parabola coexists with a *** other values it can coexist with one,two or three small amplitude limit cycles which are constructed by Hopf *** result gives an answer for the question given in[4],about the existence of limit cycles for such class of system.

Search for heavy sterile neutrinos in trileptons at the LHC

We present a search strategy for both Dirac and Majorana sterile neutrinos from the purely leptonic decays of W^±→e^±e^±μ ν and μ^±^±e ν at the 14 teV LHC. the discovery and exclusion limits for sterile neutrinos are shown using both the Cut-and-Count（CC） and Multi-Variate Analysis（MVA） methods. We also discriminate between Dirac and Majorana sterile neutrinos by exploiting a set of kinematic observables which differ between the Dirac and Majorana cases. We find that the MVA method, compared to the more common CC method, can greatly enhance the discovery and discrimination limits. two benchmark points with sterile neutrino mass m N =20 GeV and 50 GeV are tested. For an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb^-1, sterile neutrinos can be found with 5σ significance if heavy-to-light neutrino mixings ｜U_（Ne）｜^2~｜U_（Nμ）｜^2~10^-6, while Majorana vs. Dirac discrimination can be reached if at least one of the mixings is of order 10^-5.

One of the main tools for monitoring the condition of high voltage equipment is the measurement of partial discharges(PD).the electromagnetic(EM)radiation originated from this degradation phenomenon can be captured by various types of ultra‐high fre-quency(UHF)antennas carefully designed and optimised for specific frequency ***,the presence of environmental noise may limit the use of this *** types of monopole antennas normally used in UHF PD measurement have been evaluated in order to validate the performance of a novel separation technique of EM ***,a new separation technique based on the energy ratio of the captured signals was developed,considering noise *** results revealed that the new technique allows an adequate separation,even when three sources act simultaneously.
