Many different techniques may be used to remove industrial pollutants from wastewater. Adsorption using activated carbon has been reported to be an effective method. This work proposes the use of a vegetable residue(black sapote seeds) as a raw material for its synthesis. These carbons were chemically activated using phosphoric acid and carbonized at 673 and 873 K. Adsorption isotherms were constructed for the textile dyes on the carbons, and this data was treated using Langmuir’s equation to quantitatively describe the adsorption process. The synthesized carbons were characterized using FTIR, EA, SEM, Nitrogen adsorption(specific surface areas of 879 and 652 m2·g-1), and their points of zero charge(2.1 and 2.3). It was possible to adsorb both heavy metals and textile dyes present in aqueous solutions and wastewaters using these activated carbons. Heavy metals were adsorbed almost completely by both carbons. Cationic dyes where adsorbed(58–59.8 mg·g-1) in greater amounts compared to anionic dyes(10–58.8 mg·g-1). The amount of anionic dyes adsorbed increased almost 30% by changing the pH of the solutions. One of the carbons was thermally regenerated on three occasions without losing its adsorption capacity and it was proved in a flow system.

Training and development for staff are the best option available for companies to survive in a highly competitive global business environment, but for those companies that operate business units located in different cities or countries, it has a high cost for the great dispersion of staff. B-learning is presented as a viable and interesting option that achieves superior results in the learning process while significantly reducing the costs associated with training. In the state of the art, B-learning has been addressed with greater emphasis in academics and the few articles that focused on addressing business training, present partial solutions to the problems exposed. This paper proposes a model that offers a comprehensive solution for managing corporate training based on B-learning, and consists of three phases： design, development and implementation.

The primary school system in Mexico is affected by serious shortfalls in the installation of related information and communication technologies resources in the teaching-learning process. This lack of resources has an impact of the context of the digital divide as well as in joining the knowledge society. The present article will deal with the outfitting of classrooms with the enciclomedia system in the 5tb and 6th grade in the State of puebla. It will demonstrate important findings, demonstrating the deepening digital divide between the state capital and the rest of the municipalities in this state. In fact, the furthest （300 km far away from puebla city） the less primary school equipped with the enciclomedia system. We will also demonstrate the resource distribution by school-type and inhabitants. Another finding is the influence in resource distribution by political party. This study should provide public policy decision-makers with valuable information for the apportionment of resources in all municipalities of the State of puebla.

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD) is one of the most common indications for liver transplantation(LT). However, it has always remained as a complicated topic from both medical and ethical grounds, as it is seen for many a "self-inflicted disease". Over the years, the survival rate of transplanted patients has significantly improved. The allocation system and the inclusion criteria for LT has also undergone some modifications. Early LT for acute alcoholic hepatitis has been subject to recent clinical studies with encouraging results in highly selected patients. We have learned from studies the importance of a multidisciplinary evaluation of candidates for LT. Complete abstinence should be attempted to overcome addiction issues and to allow spontaneous liver recovery. Risk factors for relapse include the presence of anxiety or depressive disorder, short duration of sobriety pre-LT and lack of social support. The identification of risk factors and the strengthen of social support system may decrease relapse among these patients. Family counseling of candidates is highly encouraged to prevent relapse to alcohol. Relapse has been associated with different histopathological changes, graft damage, graft loss and even decrease in survival among some studies. Therefore, each patient should be carefully selected and priority is to continue to lean on patients with high probability of success. The ethical issue remains as to the patient returning to drinking after the LT, hindering the way for other patients who could have received the same organ.

The Balanced Academic Curriculum Problem （BACP） is a constraint satisfaction problem classified as （Non-deterministic Polynomial-time Hard） NP-Hard. This problem consists in the allocation of courses in the periods that are part of a curriculum such that the prerequisites are satisfied and the load of courses is balanced for the students. This paper presents the solution for a modified BACP where the academic loads and number of curses may be the same or different for each one of the periods and allows having some courses in a specific period. This problem is modeled as an integer programming problem and is proposed the use of Tabu search with short-term memory for its solution because it is not possible to find solutions for all the instances of this modified problem with an exact method.

In this paper we are describing a green cycle process. The first step was a novel hydrotalcite-like compound (HTLC) synthesized by a co-precipitating method, under standard ambient temperature and pressure, using chemical industry wastewater rich in divalent and trivalent cations, activated by a thermal treatment and finally characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDS) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The second step was a series of batch sorption tests performed with this activated HTLC and untreated underground sulfurous water from the state of puebla, México. The HTLC calcined at 500°C/3 h exhibited the best sorption ability for ions, demonstrated a decrease of the hardness and sulfate ions to below the regional legal standards for drinking water. Once inactive after being used in water treatment, the sorbed ions were removed by ion exchange in a carbonate-containing solution, resulting in an 80% recycling of the material which upon activation demonstrated a retained capacity for water treatment. This recyclability suggests the exciting possibility of this novel compound as an efficient “green” technology in water treatment processes.

Starting from the importance of preserving our information and protecting our devices against attacks on their vulnerabilities, this article aims to establish the level of knowledge in computer security and problem-solving of students at a university in northwest Mexico. This research has a quantitative approach where the European Framework of Digital Competencies for Citizenship was used as a reference to identify and establish the level of the competencies that were evaluated. The IKANOS Test was used as a data collection tool. The results show that students know the importance of keeping their devices safe and how valuable the information found on them is. On the other hand, the results also show a considerable percentage of students who do not have the knowledge and are at a basic level of knowledge to solve technical problems with their devices.

Background:To assess the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of anterior chamber tap for the diagnosis of bacterial endophthalmitis on a population with high ***:Retrospective,single centre,case series *** reviewed all medical records with clinical diagnosis of bacterial endophthalmitis in our hospital from January 1st,2000 to december 31st *** each record,we documented general demographic data,best corrected visual acuity and vitreous and aqueous tap microbiological *** cases were further divided according to the endophthalmitis aetiology to perform individual calculations of sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,accuracy and *** used the results of the vitreous tap as the gold standard for diagnosis of bacterial *** excluded those records in which the aqueous and vitreous samples were not taken simultaneously or had an incomplete microbiological *** were assessed with chi squared statistics,with an alpha value of 0.05 for statistical ***:A total of 190 cases fulfilled the inclusion/exclusion *** culture rate from vitreous samples was 64.74%.Positive culture rate from aqueous sample was 32.11%.Bacteria isolated from aqueous samples matched those isolated from vitreous samples 78.68%of the *** overall sensitivity was 38.21%,specificity:75.51%,positive predictive value:79.66%,negative predictive value:32.74%(p=0.08).Subgroup analysis showed that anterior chamber taps in cases of post-surgical endophthalmitis had a moderate to low sensitivity(37.73%),high specificity(93%)and high positive predictive value(95%)(pdecisions in patients with suspected bacterial *** cases of post-surgical endophthalmitis,the result of an anterior chamber tap

Objective: To compare the presence of Mycoplasma spp. in pharyngeal swabs of patients with asthma, allergic rhinitis and controls, also to compare the reactivity to allergens in the three groups. Material and Methods: Throat swabs of 120 patients with asthma, 211 allergic rhinitis patients and 171 healthy persons were cultured in E media. Positive cultures were identified by PCR. Susceptibility of patients positive for isolation of Mycoplasma spp. to indoor, forest and undergrowth allergens were determined. Results: Mycoplasma spp. was isolated in 26.6% of samples from asthmatic patients, 36% in patients with allergic rhinitis and 2.9% in the group of healthy persons. Positive patients for Mycoplasma with asthma and allergic rhinitis showed susceptibility tomite, grass and thunder mainly. Conclusion: There is a higher incidence of Mycoplasma spp. in asthmatic and allergic rhinitis patients than healthy persons. Only patients with asthma or allergic rhinitis showed reactivity to environmental allergens.
