An electronic tongue (E-tongue) comprises a series of sensors that simulate human perception of taste and embedded artificial intelligence (AI) for data analysis and recognition. Traditional E-tongues based on electrochemical methods suffer from a bulky size and require larger sample volumes and extra power sources, limiting their applications in in vivo medical diagnosis and analytical chemistry. Inspired by the mechanics of the human tongue, triboelectric components have been incorporated into E-tongue platforms to overcome these limitations. In this study, an integrated multichannel triboelectric bioinspired E-tongue (TBIET) device was developed on a single glass slide chip to improve the device's taste classification accuracy by utilizing numerous sensory signals. The detection capability of the TBIET was further validated using various test samples, including representative human body, environmental, and beverage samples. The TBIET achieved a remarkably high classification accuracy. For instance, chemical solutions showed 100% identification accuracy, environmental samples reached 98.3% accuracy, and four typical teas demonstrated 97.0% accuracy. Additionally, the classification accuracy of NaCl solutions with five different concentrations reached 96.9%. The innovative TBIET exhibits a remarkable capacity to detect and analyze droplets with ultrahigh sensitivity to their electrical properties. Moreover, it offers a high degree of reliability in accurately detecting and analyzing various liquid samples within a short timeframe. The development of a self-powered portable triboelectric E-tongue prototype is a notable advancement in the field and is one that can greatly enhance the feasibility of rapid on-site detection of liquid samples in various settings.

The anaerobic digestion (AD) disposal of stover and cattle manure is of great significance to the development of lowcarbon economy and green energy in China, but it will also have an impact on the environment, and the degree of influence is different for various raw materials. In this study, life cycle assessment (LCA) methods were applied to analyze and compare the impact of corn stovers biogas projects (CSBP) and dairy manure biogas projects (DMBP) on the environment during the whole operation stage. The results of inventory analysis were evaluated by ReCiPe2016 Hierarchy(H) mid -point (problem -oriented) and end -point (destruction -oriented) method, respectively. The results showed that the net energy efficiency of CSBP was higher (763.903 kWh/FU) and the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction of DMBP was more (5541.418 kg CO2-eq/FU). The anaerobic digestion (AD) units have the greatest environmental impacts, and human carcinogenic toxicity is the largest environmental impact category (1.16-1.43 PE). The key to reducing environmental impact is reducing the input of chemical substances and the waste of electric energy. Both CSBP and DMBP have a favorable impact on ecosystem quality and resources, and CSBP is more beneficial to the environment (-10.297 Pt). Co -digestion is an important measure to reduce the environmental damage from biogas projects. These research results provide theoretical support for the selection of raw materials for large-scale biogas projects in China, provide technical basis for reducing the impact of actual operation on the environment, and promote the resource utilization of agricultural waste and carbon dioxide emission reduction and sequestration.

The estimation of fish mass is one of the most basic and important tasks in aquaculture. Acquiring the mass of fish at different growth stages is of great significance for feeding, monitoring the health status of fish, and making breeding plans to increase production. The existing estimation methods for fish mass often stay in the 2D plane, and it is difficult to obtain the 3D information on fish, which will lead to the error. To solve this problem, a multi-view method was proposed to obtain the 3D information of fish and predict the mass of fish through a two-stage neural network with an edge-sensitive module. In the first stage, the side- and downward-view images of the fish and some 3D information, such as side area, top area, length, deflection angle, and pitch angle, were captured to estimate the size of the fish through two vertically placed cameras. Then the area of the fish at different views was estimated accurately through the pre-trained image segmentation neural network with an edge- sensitive module. In the second stage, a fully connected neural network was constructed to regress the fish mass based on the 3D information obtained in the previous stage. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can accurately estimate the fish mass and outperform the existing estimation methods.

This study presents a rapid and versatile low-cost sample-to-answer system for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics. The system integrates the extraction and purification of nucleic acids, followed by amplification via either reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) or reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP). By meeting diverse diagnostic and reagent needs, the platform yields testing results that closely align with those of commercial RT-LAMP and RT-qPCR systems. Notable advantages of our system include its speed and cost-effectiveness. The assay is completed within 28 min, including sample loading (5 min), ribonucleic acid (RNA) extraction (3 min), and RT-LAMP (20 min). The cost of each assay is approximate to $9.5, and this pricing is competitive against that of Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved commercial alternatives. Although some RNA loss during on-chip extraction is observed, the platform maintains a potential limit of detection lower than 297 copies. Portability makes the system particularly useful in environments where centralized laboratories are either unavailable or inconveniently located. Another key feature is the platform's versatility, allowing users to choose between RT-qPCR or RT-LAMP tests based on specific requirements.

In this paper, we discuss the quadrilateral, finite element approximation to the two-dimensional linear elasticity problem associated with a homogeneous isotropic elastic material. The optimal convergence of the finite element method is proved for both the L-2-norm and energy-norm, and in particular, the convergence is uniform with respect to the Lame constant lambda. Also the performance of the scheme does not deteriorate as the material becomes nearly incompressible, Numerical experiments are given which are consistent with our theory.

A new dynamic model for mixed, flexible bar and gear multibody systems is developed based on a specific finite element method, and a new gear element is proposed. The gear element can take into account the time variant stiffness, the gear errors and mass unbalance. The model for geared multibody systems can couple the gear meshing and the flexibility of all contained components. The kinematic and dynamic analyses of the geared multibody systems are expounded and illustrated on an example composed of three gears, two bars and one slider.

We consider solving integral equations of the second kind defined on the half-line [0, infinity) by the preconditioned conjugate gradient method. Convergence is known to be slow due to the non-compactness of the associated integral operator. In this paper, we construct two different circulant integral operators to be used as preconditioners for the method to speed up its convergence rate. We prove that if the given integral operator is close to a convolution-type integral operator, then the preconditioned systems will have spectrum clustered around 1 and hence the preconditioned conjugate gradient method will converge superlinearly. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the fast convergence.

A CAD approach which can optimize and automate the parting direction determination is presented. The approach is based on the geometrical and topological information of the solid modelling of the plastic moulded part in order to select a pair of optimal parting directions of a two plate mould which minimizes the number of side cores. The shell of a part is divided into inter influential regions and non influential faces in the mould design point of view. Through analyzing and computing the accessibility direction cones of the inter influential regions, the optimal parting directions can be determined automatically.
