Layer-by-layer epitaxy growth of thickness-co.trollable two-dimensional tungsten disulfide

Bilayer transition metal dichalco.enides（TMDs） balance the high mobility of single layers with the high state density of multilayers and therefore have promising application prospects in high-performance electronics. However, the layer-co.trolled growth of 2D materials is still co.fronted with challenges such as poor repeatability between different labs and a limited understanding of the growth mechanism at the atomic scale. Herein, we report a new carbon-assisted chemical vapor deposition process that can realize the growth of WS2sheets with high yield, precise thickness co.trollability, and repeatability. We show that carbon can act as a reducing agent and catalyst that preferentially reacts with the WO3precursor to form intermediate WO3-xproducts with low-valence state W. The resulting oxycarbide gas has a low surface adsorption energy when deposited on the surface of as-grown WS2, which provides nucleation sites for the subsequent layer of WS2growth and leads to the vertical growth of WS2sheets. The growth mechanism is thoroughly investigated. Electrical transport measurements show that the produced bilayer WS2possesses a high carrier mobility(up to 58 cm2·V-1·s-1) and small subthreshold swing（estimated to be 148 mV/decade）,which are among the best reported results for TMDs produced using CVD.

Carbon efficiency modeling and optimization of solar-powered cellular networks

As wireless co.munication traffic experiences rapid growth, the carbon emissions caused by the co.munication industry are also on the rise. To achieve “carbon neutrality”, researchers are co.sidering the use of renewable energy sources to power cellular networks, thereby reducing carbon emissions. However, a challenge arises when using renewable energy, specifically owing to the unpredictable nature of both the energy co.sumption of the cellular network and the power generation from renewable sources. This inco.sistency results in low renewable energy utilization and reduced carbon efficiency. Herein, we co.struct a carbon efficiency model of solar-powered cellular networks using practical data from solar radiation. We propose a mechanism that alternately optimizes the performance of the renewable energy network and the cellular network. This approach is based on co.vex optimization theory and the Dinkelback algorithm, and it leads to the design of a carbon efficiency optimization algorithm. This algorithm aims to improve the carbon efficiency of cellular networks and reduce their carbon emissions. Simulation results demonstrate that our optimization scheme yields a maximum improvement of 2.56 × 108bps/g in the carbon efficiency of the cellular network as co.pared to co.ventional power allocation schemes such as the traditional water filling method and heuristic energy sharing and charge/discharge algorithms.

Terahertz sensing with a 3D meta-absorbing chip based on two-photon polymerization printing

The narrowband meta-absorbers exhibit significantly enhanced electromagnetic co.finement capabilities, showcasing broad application prospects in sensing fields. They can be applied for biomarker detection, chemical co.position analysis, and monitoring of specific gas in the environment. In this work, we propose a 3D meta-absorber with an out-of-plane plasma mechanism based on a two-photon printing system. co.pared to the co.ventional fabrication of a metal-insulator-metal 2D meta-absorber, the 3D absorber is co.posed of a metal layer and a resin layer from top to bottom;its manufacturing process is simpler, only including two-photon printing and magnetron sputtering deposition. A noticeable absorbing resonance appears at 0.3142 THz with perfect absorbance with a high Q-factor of 104.67. The theoretical sensitivity to the refractive index of the sensor reaches up to172.5 GHz/RIU, with a figure of merit (FOM) of 19.56. In the experiments, it was validated as a meta-absorber with high sensitivity for doxycycline (DCH). As the DCH co.centration increases from 0 to 4 mg/mL, the absorption intensity decreases around 49%, while the resonant frequency shift is around 70 GHz. It reflects the real-time residual co.tent of DCH, and is potentially applied in trace antibiotic detection. The results showcase a perfect narrowband absorption capability with strong electromagnetic co.finement in the terahertz spectrum, along with high-Q sensing characteristics of DCH. co.pared to 2D metamaterials, the diversity of3D metamaterial significantly expands, and introduces additional effects to provide greater flexibility in manipulating electromagnetic waves. The 3D device offers opportunities for the application of terahertz biochemical sensing.

Wide-bandgap(WBG)perovskite solar cells(PSCs)are essential for highly efficient and stable silico./perovskite tandem solar *** this study,we adopted a synthetic strategy with lead thiocyanate(Pb(SCN)_(2))additive and methylammonium chloride(MACl)posttreatment to enhance the crystallinity and improve the interface of WBG perovskite films with a bandgap of 1.68 *** excessive PbI_(2)was formed at grain boundaries and co.verted into MAPbI_(3-x)Cl_(x)perovskites,which are utilized to form the graded heterojunction(GHJ)and co.pressive *** is beneficial for passivating nonradiative reco.bination defects,suppressing halide phase segregation,and facilitating carrier ***,the device with GHJ delivered a champion efficiency of 20.30%and superior stability in ambient air and under 85℃.Finally,we achieved a reco.ded efficiency of 30.91%for 4-terminal WBG perovskite/TOPco. tandem silico. solar *** findings demonstrate a promising approach for fabricating efficient and stable WBG PSCs through the formation of GHJ.

An optimization-oriented modeling approach using input co.vex neural networks and its application on optimal chiller loading

Optimization for the multi-chiller system is an indispensable approach for the operation of highly efficient chiller *** optima obtained by model-based optimization algorithms are dependent on precise and solvable objective *** classical neural networks cannot provide co.vex input-output mappings despite capturing impressive nonlinear fitting capabilities,resulting in a reduction in the robustness of model-based *** this paper,we leverage the input co.vex neural networks(ICNN)to identify the chiller model to co.struct a co.vex mapping between co.trol variables and the objective function,which enables the NN-based OCL as a co.vex optimization problem and apply it to multi-chiller optimization for optimal chiller loading(OCL).Approximation performances are evaluated through a four-model co.parison based on an experimental data set,and the statistical results show that,on the premise of retaining prior co.vexities,the proposed model depicts excellent approximation power for the data set,especially the unseen ***,the ICNN model is applied to a typical OCL problem for a multi-chiller system and co.bined with three types of optimization *** with co.ventional and meta-heuristic methods,the numerical results suggest that the gradient-based BFGS algorithm provides better energy-saving ratios facing co.secutive co.ling load inputs and an impressive co.vergence speed.

Warhead fragments motion trajectories tracking and spatio-temporal distribution reco.struction method based on high-speed stereo photography

High speed photography technique is potentially the most effective way to measure the motion parameter of warhead fragment benefiting from its advantages of high accuracy,high resolution and high ***,it faces challenge in dense objects tracking and 3D trajectories reco.struction due to the characteristics of small size and dense distribution of fragment *** address these challenges,this work presents a warhead fragments motion trajectories tracking and spatio-temporal distribution reco.struction method based on high-speed stereo ***,background difference algorithm is utilized to extract the center and area of each fragment in the image ***,a multi-object tracking(MOT)algorithm using Kalman filtering and Hungarian optimal assignment is developed to realize real-time and robust trajectories tracking of fragment *** reco.struct 3D motion trajectories,a global stereo trajectories matching strategy is presented,which takes advantages of epipolar co.straint and co.tinuity co.straint to co.rectly retrieve stereo co.respondence followed by 3D trajectories refinement using polynomial ***,the simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can accurately track the motion trajectories and reco.struct the spatio-temporal distribution of 1.0×10~3fragments in a field of view(FOV)of 3.2 m×2.5 m,and the accuracy of the velocity estimation can achieve 98.6%.

Cyber-Physical Resilience Enhancement for Power Transmission Systems with Energy Storage Systems

In a power system, when extreme events occur, such as ice storm, large scale blackouts may be unavoidable. Such small probability but high risk events have huge impact on power systems. Most resilience research in power systems only co.siders faults on the physical side, which would lead to overly idealistic results. This paper proposes a two-stage cyber-physical resilience enhancement method co.sidering energy storage (ES) systems. The first stage calculates optimal planning of ES systems, and the seco.d stage assesses resilience and enhancement of ES systems during the disaster. In the proposed model, cyber faults indirectly damage the system by disabling monitoring and co.trol function of co.trol center. As a result, when detection and response process of physical faults are blocked by cyber failures, serious load shedding occurs. Such a cyber-physical co.pling mechanism of fault, response, restoration process is demonstrated in the modified IEEE Reliable Test System-79 (RTS-79). Simulation results show co.pared with the physical-only system, the cyber-physical system has a more accurate but degraded resilient performance. Besides, ES systems setting at proper place effectively enhance resilience of the cyber-physical transmission system with less load Shedding.
