Left lower lobe sleeve resection for the clear cell variant of pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma:A case report

BACKGROUND Pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma(PmEC)is a rare malignancy that arises from minor salivary glands within the tracheobronchial *** clear cell variant of PmEC is exceptionally uncommon and presents notable diagnostic challenges,primarily attributable to its morphological similarity to other tumors containing clear *** SUmmARY A 22-year-old male,formerly in good health,came in with a two-month duration of persistent cough and production of *** imaging and bronchoscopy examinations revealed a 2 cm tumor in the distal left main bronchus,which resulted in complete atelectasis of the left *** assessment via positron emission tomography/computed tomography scans and endoscopic biopsy confirmed the primary malignant nature of the tumor,charac-terized by clear cell morphology in most of the tumor *** patient underwent a left lower lobe sleeve resection accompanied by systematic mediastinal lymph node *** pathology analysis subsequently revealed a CRTC3-mAmL2 gene fusion,leading to a definitive pathological diagnosis of the clear cell variant of PmEC,staged as *** surgery,the patient experienced a smooth recovery and exhibited no signs of recurrence during the one-and-a-half-year follow-up *** This article describes an unusual case of a clear cell variant of PmEC characterized by the presence of a CRTC3-mAmL2 gene fusion in a 22-year-old *** patient underwent successful left lower lobe sleeve *** case underscores the distinctive challenges associated with diagnosing and treating this uncommon malignancy,underscoring the importance of precise diagnosis and personalized treatment strategies.

BACKGROUND Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding is a common medical emergency that has a 10%hospital mortality *** to the etiology,this disease can be divided into acute varicose veins and nonvaricose *** from esophageal varices is a life-threatening complication of portal *** hypertension is a clinical syndrome defined as a portal venous pressure that exceeds 10 *** is the most common cause of portal hypertension,and thrombosis of the portal system not associated with liver cirrhosis is the second most common cause of portal hypertension in the Western *** myeloproliferative disorders are the main cause of portal venous thrombosis,and somatic mutations in the Janus kinase 2 gene(JAK2 V617F)can be found in approximately 90% of polycythemia vera,50% of essential thrombocyrosis and 50% of primary *** SUmmARY We present a rare case of primary myelofibrosis with gastrointestinal bleeding as the primary manifestation that presented as portal-superior-splenic mesenteric vein *** blood tests revealed the presence of the JAK2 V617F *** marrow biopsy ultimately confirmed the diagnosis of myelofibrosis(mF-2 grade).CONCLUSION In patients with acute esophageal variceal bleeding due to portal hypertension and vein thrombosis without cirrhosis,the possibility of myeloproliferative neoplasms should be considered,and the JAK2 mutation test should be performed.

Epidemiological and histopathological characteristics of thyroid carcinoma in a Tunisian health care center

ATm Activation is Key in Vasculogenic mimicry Formation by Glioma Stem-like Cells

Objective Vasculogenic mimicry(Vm)is a novel vasculogenic process integral to glioma stem cells(GSCs)in glioblastoma(GBm).However,the relationship between Vm and ataxia-telangiectasia mutated(ATm)serine/threonine kinase activation,which confers chemoradiotherapy resistance,remains *** We investigated Vm formation and phosphorylated ATm(pATm)levels by CD31/GFAPperiodic acid-Schiff dual staining and immunohistochemical staining in 145 GBm *** stem-like cells(GSLCs)derived from the formatted spheres of U87 and U251 cell lines and their pATm level and Vm formation ability were examined using western blot and three-dimensional *** the examination of the function of pATm in Vm formation by GSLCs,ATm knockdown by shRNAs and deactivated via ATm phosphorylation inhibitor KU55933 were *** Vm and high pATm expression occurred in 38.5% and 41.8% of tumors,respectively,and were significantly associated with reduced progression-free and overall *** with Vm-positive GBms exhibited higher pATm levels(r_(s)=0.425,P=0.01).The multivariate analysis established Vm as an independent negative prognostic factor(P=0.002).Furthermore,GSLCs expressed high levels of pATm and formed vascular-like networks in *** inactivation or knockdown hindered Vm-like network formation concomitant with the downregulation of pVEGFR-2,VE-cadherin,and laminin *** Vm may predict a poor GBm prognosis and is associated with pATm *** propose that pATm promotes Vm through extracellular matrix modulation and VE-Cadherin/pVEGFR-2 activation,thereby highlighting ATm activation as a potential target for enhancing anti-angiogenesis therapies for GBm.

metabolic reprogramming is a key feature of tumor cells and plays a key role in the adaptation of tumor cells to increased demands of biosynthesis and rapid proliferation.1 Numerous studies have shown that some key metabolic enzymes are essential for the initiation and progression of breast cancer(BC).These metabolic enzymes are involved in the regulation of many biological processes such as gene transcription,post-translational modification,and antioxidant capacity of cells,which endow tumor cells with the ability to adapt to divergent environmental stimuli.2 Therefore,it is of great significance to identify the role of important metabolic enzymes in the occurrence and development of BC to determine promising therapeutic targets.
