Spinal cord injuries impose a notably economic burden on society,mainly because of the severe after-effects they *** the ongoing development of various therapies for spinal cord injuries,their effectiveness remains ***,a deeper understanding of metabolism has opened up a new therapeutic opportunity in the form of metabolic *** this review,we explore the metabolic changes that occur during spinal cord injuries,their consequences,and the therapeutic tools available for metabolic *** spinal cord metabolism is characterized by independent cellular metabolism and intercellular metabolic ***,spinal cord injury results in metabolic disorders that include disturbances in glucose metabolism,lipid metabolism,and mitochondrial *** metabolic disturbances lead to corresponding pathological changes,including the failure of axonal regeneration,the accumulation of scarring,and the activation of *** rescue spinal cord injury at the metabolic level,potential metabolic reprogramming approaches have emerged,including replenishing metabolic substrates,reconstituting metabolic couplings,and targeting mitochondrial therapies to alter cell *** available evidence suggests that metabolic reprogramming holds great promise as a next-generation approach for the treatment of spinal cord *** further advance the metabolic treatment of the spinal cord injury,future efforts should focus on a deeper understanding of neurometabolism,the development of more advanced metabolomics technologies,and the design of highly effective metabolic interventions.

Predictable component analysis of a system based on nonlinear error information entropy

Based on the theory of information entropy concerning nonlinear errors, the growth rules for the nonlinear errors of the Lorenz system and its predictable components are studied. The results show that the impact of the uncertainties, both in the initial error and in the system itself, needs to be considered in a quantitative estimation of the system predictability. The nonlinear error growth is related to the magnitude of the initial error, and to the spatial distribution of the initial error vectors. Even if these initial errors have the same magnitude but different directions, there are also differences in the nonlinear error growth. The predictability of nonlinear error growth is related to the error component, but not related to the ratio of these components. The component with the highest/lowest rate of enntribution does not necessarily have the greatest/least predictability. The different components have different predictabilities, and in different time periods, the different predictable components also have different predictabilities.

Condition-based Maintenance Optimization for Gamma Deteriorating Systems under Performance-based Contracting

With the further development of service-oriented,performance-based contracting(PBC)has been widely adopted in industry and ***,maintenance optimization problems under PBC have not received enough *** further extend the scope of PBC’s application in the field of maintenance optimization,we investigate the condition-based maintenance(CBM)optimization for gamma deteriorating systems under *** the repairable single-component system subject to the gamma degradation process,this paper proposes a CBM optimization model to maximize the profit and improve system performance at a relatively low cost under *** the proposed CBM model,the first inspection interval has been considered in order to reduce the inspection frequency and the cost ***,a particle swarm algorithm(PSO)and related solution procedure are presented to solve the multiple decision variables in our proposed *** the end,a numerical example is provided so as to demonstrate the superiority of the presented *** comparing the proposed policy with the conventional ones,the superiority of our proposed policy is proved,which can bring more profits to providers and improve *** analysis is conducted in order to research the effect of corrective maintenance cost and time required for corrective maintenance on optimization policy.A comparative study is given to illustrate the necessity of distinguishing the first inspection interval or not.

A new method based on phase difference analysis is proposed for the single-channel mixed signal separation of single-channel radar *** method is used to estimate the mixing coefficients of de-noised signals through the cumulants of mixed signals,solve the candidate data set by the mixing coefficients and signal analytical form,and resolve the problem of vector ambiguity by analyzing the phase *** signal separation is realized by exchanging data of the *** waveform similarity coefficients are calculated,and the time鈥攆requency distributions of separated signals are *** results show that the proposed method is effective.

Weighted spectral correlation angle target detection method for land‑based hyperspectral imaging

In land-based spectral imaging,the spectra of ground objects are inevitably afected by the imaging conditions(weather conditions,atmospheric conditions,light conditions,zenith and azimuth angle conditions)and spatial distribution of targets,leading to uncertainties featured by“same object diferent spectrum”.That is,the spectrum of a ground object may change within a certain range under diferent imaging *** target detection(TD)methods are mainly based on similarity measurements and do not fully account for the spectral *** detection methods are prone to false detections or missed ***,reducing the impact of spectral uncertainties on TD is an important research topic in hyperspectral *** this paper,we frst review traditional TD methods and compare their principles and *** is found that the spectral correlation angle(SCA)method has good adaptability in land-based *** shortcoming of the SCA method that it cannot refect the local spectrum characteristics,is also *** the efect of spectral uncertainties cannot be completely overcome by the SCA method,a new similarity measurement method,the weighted spectral correlation angle(WSCA)method,is *** can reduce the infuence of spectral uncertainties on TD by increasing the weight of particular ***,we use two sets of experiments to analyze the efect of the WSCA method on *** performance in overcoming spectral uncertainties caused by variations in imaging conditions or uneven spatial distributions of targets is *** results show that the WSCA method can efectively reduce the infuence of spectral uncertainties and obtain a good detection result.

Effective suppression of fibronectin synthesis by retrovirus delivered shRNA in rat cardiac fibroblasts

Extracellular matrix overexpression is a common final pathway that leads to ventricular remodeling. Fibronectin plays a pivotal role in this progress. In the work presented here, we explored the possibility of direct inhibition of fibronectin synthesis in rat cardiac fibroblasts by small interference RNA (siRNA). We found that siRNA could successfully suppress the fibronectin overexpression stimulated by angiotensin II. To overcome the limitations of plasmid-based siRNA, we subcloned the H1 promoter into pLXIN, a commercially available retroviral vector. We found that H1 promoter worked very well to form the small hairpin RNA (shRNA) on the retroviral vector, and the fibronectin expression was dramatically down regulated by shRNA. We think the retroviral shRNA delivery system that we have constructed may have potential roles in treating ventricular remodeling. Novel liver-specific nitric oxide（NO） releasing drugs with bile acid as both the NO carrier and targeting ligand were designed and synthesized by direct nitration of the hydroxyl group in bile acids or the 3-Ohydroxyl alkyl derivatives,with the intact 24-COOH being preserved for hepatocyte specific *** biological evaluation revealed that oral administrated targeted conjugates could protect mice against acute liver damage induced by acetaminophen or carbon *** nitrate level in the liver significantly increased after oral administration of 1e while nitrate level in the blood did not significantly ***-administration of ursodeoxycholic acid（UDCA） significantly antagonized the increase of nitrate in the liver resulted by administration of 1e.

Handgrip Strength as a Predictor of Nutritional Status in Chinese Elderly Inpatients at Hospital Admission

Objective To assess nutritional status and define gender-and age-specific handgrip strength（HGS） cut-point values for malnutrition or nutritional risk in elderly inpatients. Methods A cross-sectional study of 1,343 elderly inpatients was conducted in the Chinese pla General Hospital. Nutrition Risk Screening（NRS 2002） and Subjective Global Assessment（SGA） were administered. Anthropometric measurements and blood biochemical indicators were obtained using standard techniques. The gender-and age-specific receiver operating characteristic（ROC） curves were constructed to evaluate the HGS for nutritional status by SGA and NRS 2002. Sensitivity, specificity, and areas under the curves（AUCs） were calculated. Results According to NRS 2002 and SGA, 63.81% of elderly inpatients were at nutritional risk and 28.22% were malnourished. Patients with higher HGS had an independently decreased risk of malnutrition and nutritional risk. The AUCs varied between 0.670 and 0.761. According to NRS 2002, the optimal HGS cut-points were 27.5 kg（65-74 years） and 21.0 kg（75-90 years） for men and 17.0 kg（65-74 years） and 14.6 kg（75-90 years） for women. According to SGA, the optimal HGS cut-points were 24.9 kg（65-74 years） and 20.8 kg（75-90 years） for men and 15.2 kg（65-74 years） and 13.5 kg（75-90 years） for women. Conclusion Elderly inpatients had increased incidence of malnutrition or nutritional risk. HGS cut-points can be used for assessing nutritional status in elderly inpatients at hospital admission in China.

Domain-specific modeling and verification for C4ISR capability requirements

An approach was proposed to specify the C4ISR capability of domain-specific modeling *** confine the domain modeling within a standard architecture framework,formally a C4ISR capability meta-ontology was defined according to the meta-model of DoD Architecture *** meta-ontology is used for extending UML Profile so that the domain experts can model the C4ISR domains using the C4ISR capability meta-concepts to define a domain-specific modeling *** domain models can be then checked to guarantee the consistency and completeness through converting the UML models into the Description Logic ontology and making use of inference engine Pellet to verify the ontology.

Effects of positive acceleration(+Gz stress) on liver enzymes,energy metabolism,and liver histology in rats

BACKGROUND Exposure to high sustained +Gz(head-to-foot inertial load) is known to have harmful effects on pilots' body in flight. Although clinical data have shown that liver dysfunction occurs in pilots, the precise cause has not been well *** To investigate rat liver function changes in response to repeated +Gz *** Ninety male Wistar rats were randomly divided into a blank control group(BC group, n = 30), a +6 Gz/5 min stress group(6 GS group, n = 30), and a +10 Gz/5 min stress group(10 GS group, n = 30). The 6 GS and 10 GS groups were exposed to +6 Gz and +10 Gz, respectively, in an animal centrifuge. The onset rate of +Gz was 0.5 G/s. The sustained time at peak +Gz was 5 min for each exposure(for 5 exposures, and 5-min intervals between exposures for a total exposure and non-exposure time of 50 min). We assessed liver injury bymeasuring the portal venous flow volume, serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST), liver tissue malondialdehyde(MDA), Na+-K+-ATPase, and changes in liver histology. These parameters were recorded at 0 h, 6 h, and 24 h after repeated +Gz *** After repeated +Gz exposures in the 6 GS and the 10 GS groups, the velocity and flow signal in the portal vein(PV) were significantly decreased as compared to the BC group at 0 h after exposure. Meanwhile, we found that the PV diameter did not change significantly. However, rats in the 6 GS group had a much higher portal venous flow volume than the 10 GS group at 0 h after exposure. The 6 GS group had significantly lower ALT, AST, and MDA values than the 10 GS group 0 h and 6 h post exposure. The Na^+-K^+-ATPase activity in the 6 GS group was significantly higher than that in the 10 GS group 0 h and 6 h post *** injury, determined pathologically, was significantly lower in the 6 GS group than in the 10 GS *** Repeated +Gz exposures transiently cause hepatocyte injury and affect liver metabolism and morphologica
