Several obstacles to the production,expansion and genetic modification of immunotherapeutic T cells in vitro have restricted the widespread use of T-cell *** the context of HSCT,delayed naïve T-cell recovery contributes to poor outcomes.A novel approach to overcome the major limitations of both T-cell immunotherapy and HSCT would be to transplant human T-lymphoid progenitors(HTLPs),allowing reconstitution of a fully functional naïve T-cell pool in the patient ***,it is challenging to produce HTLPs in the high numbers required to meet clinical ***,we found that adding tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNFα)to a dL-4-based culture system led to the generation of a large number of nonmodified or genetically modified HTLPs possessing highly efficient in vitro and in vivo T-cell potential from either CB HSPCs or mPB HSPCs through accelerated T-cell differentiation and enhanced HTLP cell cycling and *** study provides a clinically suitable cell culture platform to generate high numbers of clinically potent nonmodified or genetically modified HTLPs for accelerating immune recovery after HSCT and for T-cell-based immunotherapy(including CAR T-cell therapy).

Three different low-temperature plasma-based methods were used to improve the surface hydrophilicity of polyethy- lene （PE） films, and all the modification processes were carried out by employing an atmospheric pressure plasma jet （APPJ） system. （a） PE films were directly modified by APPJ using a gas mixture of He and 02. （b） Acrylic acid （AA） was introduced into the system and a polymer acrylic acid （PAA） coating was deposited onto the PE films. （c） AA was grafted onto the PE surface activated by plasma pre-treatment. It was found that the hydrophilicity of the PE films was significantly improved for all the three methods. However, the samples modified by Process （a） showed hydrophobicity recovery after a storage time of 20 days while no significant change was found in samples modified by Process （b） and Process （c）. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） results indicated that the most intensive C=O peak was detected on the PE surface modified by Process （c）. According to the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） analysis, the ratios of oxygen-containing polar groups for samples modified by Process （b） and Process （c） were higher than that modified by Process （a）.

Background:Populations of French Polynesia(FP),where France performed atmospheric tests between 1966 and 1974,experience a high incidence of differentiated thyroid cancer(dTC).However,up to now,no sufficiently large study of dTC genetic factors in this population has been performed to reach definitive *** research aimed to analyze the genetic factors of dTC risk among the native FP ***:We analyzed more than 300000 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)genotyped in 283 dTC cases and 418 matched controls born in FP,most being younger than 15 years old at the time of the first nuclear *** analyzed the genetic profile of our cohort to identify population *** then completed a genome-wide analysis study on the whole ***:We identified a specific genetic structure in the FP population reflecting admixture from Asian and European *** identified three regions associated with increased dTC risk at 6q24.3,10p12.2,and *** lead SNPs at these loci showed respective p-values of 1.66×10^(−7),2.39×10^(−7),and 7.19×10^(−7) and corresponding odds ratios of 2.02,1.89,and ***:Our study results suggest a role of the loci 6q24.3,10p12.2 and 17q21.32 in dTC ***,a whole genome sequencing approach would be better suited to characterize these factors than genotyping with microarray chip designed for the Caucasian ***,the functional impact of these three new loci needs to be further explored and validated.

The binary polyhydrides of heavy rare earth lutetium that shares a similar valence electron configuration to lanthanum have been experimentally discovered to be *** lutetium polyhydrides were successfully synthesized at high pressure and high temperature conditions using a diamond anvil cell in combinations with the in-situ high pressure laser heating *** resistance measurements as a function of temperature were performed at the same pressure of synthesis in order to study the transitions of superconductivity(SC).The superconducting transition with a maximum onset temperature(Tc)71 K was observed at pressure of 218 GPa in the *** Tcdecreased to 65 K when pressure was at 181 *** the evolution of SC at applied magnetic fields,the upper critical field at zero temperatureμ0Hc2(0)was obtained to be~36 *** in-situ high pressure X-ray diffraction experiments imply that the high TcSC should arise from the Lu4H23phase with Pm3n symmetry that forms a new type of hydrogen cage framework different from those reported for previous light rare earth polyhydride superconductors.

AIM: To measure and compare computed tomography (CT) radiation doses delivered to patients in public paediatric hospitals in Australia and Saudi Arabia. METHOdS: doses were measured for routine CT scans of the head, chest and abdomen/pelvis for children aged 3-6 years in all dedicated public paediatric hospitals in Australia and Saudi Arabia using a CT phantom measurement ***: CT doses, using the departments' protocols for 3-6 year old, varied considerably between hospitals. Measured head doses varied from 137.6 to 528.0 mGy·cm, chest doses from 21.9 to 92.5 mGy·cm, and abdomen/pelvis doses from 24.9 to 118.0 mGy·cm. Mean head and abdomen/pelvis doses delivered in Saudi Arabian paediatric CT departments were significantly higher than those in their Australian equivalents. CONCLUSION: CT dose varies substantially across Australian and Saudi Arabian paediatric hospitals. Therefore, diagnostic reference levels should be established for major anatomical regions to standardise dose.
