Our previous studies have reported that activation of the NLRP3(NOD-,LRR-and pyrin domain-containing protein 3)-inflammasome complex in ethanol-treated astrocytes and chronic alcohol-fed mice could be associated with neuroinflammation and brain *** stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles(MSC-EVs)have been shown to restore the neuroinflammatory response,along with myelin and synaptic structural alterations in the prefrontal cortex,and alleviate cognitive and memory dysfunctions induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** the therapeutic role of the molecules contained in mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles,the present study analyzed whether the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles isolated from adipose tissue,which inhibited the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome,was capable of reducing hippocampal neuroinflammation in adolescent mice treated with binge *** demonstrated that the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles ameliorated the activation of the hippocampal NLRP3 inflammasome complex and other NLRs inflammasomes(e.g.,pyrin domain-containing 1,caspase recruitment domain-containing 4,and absent in melanoma 2,as well as the alterations in inflammatory genes(interleukin-1β,interleukin-18,inducible nitric oxide synthase,nuclear factor-kappa B,monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,and C–X3–C motif chemokine ligand 1)and miRNAs(miR-21a-5p,miR-146a-5p,and miR-141-5p)induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** analysis further revealed the involvement of miR-21a-5p and miR-146a-5p with inflammatory target genes and NOD-like receptor signaling *** together,these findings provide novel evidence of the therapeutic potential of MSC-derived EVs to ameliorate the hippocampal neuroinflammatory response associated with NLRP3 inflammasome activation induced by binge drinking in adolescence.

BACKGROUND Stoma creation is a common procedure in colorectal cancer surgery,however,stoma-related complications remain a significant *** To investigate the incidence,types,and risk factors of stoma-related complications in colorectal cancer patients who underwent stoma *** Patients with stoma was prospectively recorded in the established stoma *** was collected from this stoma management system from November 2021 through May *** rates of stoma-related complications were assessed,and potential risk factors were analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression *** A total of 734 patients were included in the *** results showed that 12.3%of patients experienced stoma-related complications,with mucocutaneous separation,edema,and skin excoriation being the most common *** majority(90%)of complications were classified as grade 2 according to the Clavien-Dindo *** factors,such as blood loss volume greater than 500 mL and open surgery,were significantly associated with stoma ***,stoma features like location,shape,color,height,and edema were important factors in the association with *** mass index over 30 kg/m²was also found to be a significant risk *** These findings highlight the need for a holistic approach to preventing and managing stoma complications,considering both patient-related and surgical factors.

The utilization of oil palm biomass in the production of high-value products has increased *** to the presence of sugars and starches in their tissues,oil palms have an exceptionally low natural resistance to fungi,making them susceptible to *** this study,the properties of particleboard made from oil palmﬁbers,namely empty fruit bunches(EFB),oil palm trunks(OPT),and oil palm fronds(OPF)ﬁbers and its poten-tial for fungal attack were *** chemical composition,spectroscopic characterization,morphological features,and elemental analysis of oil palm biomassﬁbers were identiﬁed and thoroughly *** mechan-ical properties and dimensional stability of the boards were assessed based on Japanese Industrial Standards(JIS)and American National Standards Institute(ANSI)*** density,strength,and moisture resistance of particleboard made from OPTﬁbers may vary from those made from OPF and EFB due to inherent changes in chemical composition andﬁber *** differences have an impact on the overall performance of the *** on the ANOVA and Tukey’s test results,signiﬁcant differences in elasticity properties were observed mainly between OPT and otherﬁbers,while bending strength revealed notable differences between various pairs of *** evaluation also highlighted variations in dimensional stability and water absorption ***,bending strength properties did not demonstrate any signiﬁcant *** the fungi test,fungal activity on the boards was observed over a two-week period in a controlled *** study revealed that oil palm-based particleboard exhibited susceptibility to fungal attacks,particularly from Aspergillus sp.,Trichoderma sp.,and Paecilomyces ***ﬁndings highlight the necessity for additional treatments to control or prevent fungal growth,thereby enhancing the commercial value of the particleboards.

The paper is an introduction to the front-end pulse acquisition and the back-end pulse biomimetic reproduction system. This system is capable of faithfully replicating the complete pulse waveform collected at the front end. Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) practitioners analyze and diagnose the pulse patterns at the replication end. Meanwhile, the obtained pulse waveforms are analyzed and learnt by a neural network based on key diagnostic points in TCM pulse taking, which enables the determination of the corresponding relationships between different pulse waveforms and various pulse patterns in TCM pulse taking. With the support of clinical samples, an auxiliary diagnostic system for TCM pulse patterns ensures the accuracy of pulse pattern replication.

Fresh-cut lettuce is widely used in ready-to-eat salads sold in modified atmosphere packages (MAP).Even in MAP,fresh-cut lettuce has short shelf life that results in loss of *** cultivars exhibit genetic variation for shelf life in MAP,but their variation for nutrient retention is not *** accessions were evaluated for initial content of ascorbic acid (AsA),carotenoids,and sugars and their retention in *** with high content and/or good retention of one or more nutrients were *** romaine accession ‘Floricos’ had high levels of all the three *** with relatively high retention of all the three nutrients were ‘Salinas 88’,‘Siskiyou’,‘Solar’,SM09A,‘Romance’,and ‘Green Towers’.Romaine cultivars,‘Balady Barrage’,‘Green Towers’,and ‘Darkland’ had relatively high initial levels of all tested nutrients and good rate of their *** was no clear correlation between initial AsA/carotene concentrations and their retention rates,suggesting that besides content,retention of nutrients should also be a breeding target in a lettuce nutritional improvement *** analyses with the Pearson's correlation coefficient determined a negative relationship between tissue deterioration(AUDePS) and retention of all tested nutrients[r of-0.52 (P<0.0001) for AsA,-0.27 (P<0.01) for total carotene,and-0.59 (P<0.0001) for total sugars],suggesting that an increase in tissue deterioration intensifies nutrient ***-sense heritability (H^(2)) across the experiments was0.15 for AsA,0.23 for total carotene,and 0.50 for total *** of germplasm with high nutrient content,extended shelf life and good nutrient retention provides valuable information for the lettuce industry and associated breeding programs.

research on the ecohydrological processes of terrestrial plants is a frontier field comprising ecology,hydrology and global change research,yielding the key theoretical foundations of *** karst areas,due to its unique geological background,the karst landscape is strongly developed,with high bedrock exposure,high permeability,fragmented soils,shallow soils,and high spatial heterogeneity,resulting in very limited water storage for plant uptake and growth in rock fissures and shallow ***,water conditions are an important ecological factor influencing plant *** comprehensively understand the current progress and development trends in plant water use research focusing on karst areas,this paper uses the VOSviewer software to analyze the literature on plant water use in karst areas between 1984 and *** results showed that:(1)research on plant water use in karst areas has developed rapidly worldwide,and the number of relevant studies in the literature have increased year by year,which together means that it is attracting more and more attention.(2)The investigation of plant water sources,geological background of karst areas,seasonal arid tropical climates,the relationship betweenδ13C values and plant water use efficiency,karst plant water use in karst savannas and subtropical areas,and ecosystems under climate change yields the knowledge base in this field.(3)Most studies in this area focus on the division of water sources of plants in karst areas,the methods of studying the water use sources of plants,and the water use strategies and efficiency of plants.(4)Future research will focus on how plant water use in karst areas is influenced by Earth’s critical zones,climate change,and ecohydrological *** studies will provide a key scientific basis for guiding ecological restoration and promoting sustainable development in karst areas.
