Reconstruction of vertical thermal structure from several subsurface temperatures in the China Seas and adjacent waters

Empirical Orthogonal Function （EOF） analysis is used in this study to generate main eigenvector fields of historical temperature for the China Seas （here referring to Chinese marine territories） and adjacent waters from 1930 to 2002 （510 143 profiles）. A good temperature profile is reconstructed based on several subsurface in situ temperature observations and the thermocline was estimated using the model. The results show that： 1） For the study area, the former four principal components can explain 95% of the overall variance, and the vertical distribution of temperature is most stable using the in situ temperature observations near the surface. 2） The model verifications based on the observed CTD data from the East China Sea （ECS）, South China Sea （SCS） and the areas around Taiwan Island show that the reconstructed profiles have high correlation with the observed ones with the confidence level 〉95%, especially to describe the characteristics of the thermocline well. The average errors between the reconstructed and observed profiles in these three areas are 0.69℃, 0.52℃ and 1.18℃ respectively. It also shows the model RMS error is less than or close to the climatological error. The statistical model can be used to well estimate the temperature profile vertical structure. 3） Comparing the thermocline characteristics between the reconstructed and observed profiles, the results in the ECS show that the average absolute errors are 1.5m, 1.4 m and 0.17~C/m, and the average relative errors are 24.7%, 8.9% and 22.6% for the upper, lower thermocline boundaries and the gradient, respectively. Although the relative errors are obvious, the absolute error is small. In the SCS, the average absolute errors are 4.1 m, 27.7 m and 0.007℃/m, and the average relative errors are 16.1%, 16.8% and 9.5% for the upper, lower thermocline boundaries and the gradient, respectively. Reliability evaluation of high-performance,low-power FinFET standard cells based on mixed RBB/FBB technique

With shrinking transistor feature size,the fin-type field-effect transistor（FinFET） has become the most promising option in low-power circuit design due to its superior capability to suppress *** support the VLSI digital system flow based on logic synthesis,we have designed an optimized high-performance low-power FinFET standard cell library based on employing the mixed FBB/RBB technique in the existing stacked structure of each *** paper presents the reliability evaluation of the optimized cells under process and operating environment variations based on Monte Carlo *** variations are modelled with Gaussian distribution of the device parameters and 10000 sweeps are conducted in the simulation to obtain the statistical properties of the worst-case delay and input-dependent leakage for each *** comparison,a set of non-optimal cells that adopt the same topology without employing the mixed biasing technique is also *** results show that the optimized cells achieve standard deviation reduction of 39.1%and 30.7%at most in worst-case delay and inputdependent leakage respectively while the normalized deviation shrinking in worst-case delay and input-dependent leakage canbe up to 98.37%and 24.13%,respectively,which demonstrates that our optimized cells are less sensitive to variability and exhibit more reliability.

Diffusion and collective motion of rotlets in 2D space

We investigate the collective motion of rotlets that are placed in a single plane. Due to the hydrodynamic interactions,the particles move through the two-dimensional(2D) plane and we analyze these diffusive motions. By analyzing the scaling of the values, we predict that the diffusion coefficient scales with φ0.5, the average velocity with φ, and relaxation time of the velocity autocorrelation function with φ-1.5, where φ is the area fraction of the particles. In this paper, we find that the predicted scaling could be seen only when the initial particle position is homogeneous. The particle collective motions are different by starting the simulation from random initial positions, and the diffusion coefficient is the largest at a minimum volume fraction of our parameter range, φ = 0.05. The deviations based on two initial positions can be explained by the frequency of the collision events. The particles collide during their movements and the inter-particle distances gradually increase. When the area fraction is large, the particles will result in relatively homogeneous configurations regardless of the initial positions because of many collision events. Accelerated Parallel Texture Optimization

Texture optimization is a texture synthesis method that can efficiently reproduce various features of exemplar textures. However, its slow synthesis speed limits its usage in many interactive or real time applications. In this paper, we propose a parallel texture optimization algorithm to run on GPUs. In our algorithm, k-coherence search and principle component analysis （PCA） are used for hardware acceleration, and two acceleration techniques are further developed to speed up our GPU-based texture optimization. With a reasonable precomputation cost, the online synthesis speed of our algorithm is 4000＋ times faster than that of the original texture optimization algorithm and thus our algorithm is capable of interactive applications. The advantages of the new scheme are demonstrated by applying it to interactive editing of flow-guided synthesis.

The effect of co-catalysts on the morphology of isotactic polypropene prepared using metallocene catalyst

SiO2/rac-Me2Si[2-Me-4-Naph-Ind]2ZrCl2 was prepared and different co-catalysts were used in bulk polymerization of propene. The morphology of polypropene could be controlled by altering the co-catalysts. The isotactic polypropene with good morphology and high bulk density were prepared. The formation mechanism of active centers was proposed, by which the effect of co-catalysts on the morphology of polypeopene was analyzed.

A Novel 3D Video Fingerprinting Algorithm Based on Local Feature Points

Digital rights management of the 3 D contents is a crucial open issue in the 3 D video industry. A novel robust fingerprinting algorithm is proposed for protecting the copyright of the 3 D video. Unlike the existing algorithms extracting visual features separately from the 2 D videos and the depth maps, in our algorithm a novel local stereo space is constructed according to the depth information of the pixels around the extracted local feature points in the 2 D videos, and the 3 D videos are processed in a holistic manner. In the proposed space,the 3 D-transform-feature is extracted and aggregated into a feature matrix, and then the compact 3 D video fingerprints are obtained from the eigenspace of the matrix. Our comprehensive experiments are conducted on a 3 D video database, and the results have demonstrated the robustness and discrimination of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, our fingerprints cost less storage spaces than the existing approaches.

Simultaneous biodegradation of nitrogen-containing aromatic compounds in a sequencing batch bioreactor

Many nitrogen-containing aromatic compounds （NACs）, such as nitrobenzene （NB）, 4-nitrophenol （4-NP）, aniline （AN）, and 2,4-dinitrophenol （2,4-DNP）, are environmentally hazardous, and their removal from contaminated water is one of the main challenges facing wastewater treatment plants. In this study, synthetic wastewater containing NB, 4-NP, 2,4-DNP, and AN at concentrations ranging from 50 to 180 mg/L was fed into a sequencing batch reactor （SBR）. Analyses of the SBR system indicated that it simultaneously removed more than 99% of the NACs at loading rates of 0.36 kg NB/（m^3·d）, 0.3 kg 4-NP/（m^3·d）, 0.25 kg AN/（m^3·d）, and 0.1 kg 2,4-DNP/（m^3·d）. Bacterial groups of Bacteriodetes, Candidate division TM7, α-Proteobacteria, and β-Proteobacteria were dominant in the clone libraries of 16S rRNA genes retrieved from the microbial communities in the SBR system. ＂Cycle tests＂ designed to alter feeding and aeration parameters of the SBR system demonstrated that the resident microbial biome of the SBR system responded rapidly to changing conditions. Consumption of O2 was concomitant with the apparent mineralization of NACs. Aromatic ring-cleaving dioxygenase activities suggested that （1） AN and NB were degraded via catechol 2,3-dioxygenase; （2） 4-NP was degraded via 1,2,4-benzentriol 1,2-dioxygenase; and （3） 2,4-DNP was degraded via an unresolved pathway.

It is extremely important for bacteria detection in many fields,such as medical diagnosis and food *** this paper,streptavidin functionalized quantum dots(SA-QDs),as a nano-fluorescent probe,were used to attach with Escherichia coli(***) for the detection and identification of bacteria with immunoreactions and biotin-streptavidin *** images of the bacteria and the fluorescence intensity were used to evaluate the conjugation effect with different incubation *** results showed that 20 min is a reasonable incubation time for the SA-QDs coupling to *** *** fluorescent images,which produce a greatly amplified and enhanced signal of *** cells,were obtained through the immunological amplification and fluorescent probe enrichment *** addition,the bleaching process of SA-QDs without any encapsulation at room temperature was clearly observed during 10 min of being *** work provided a modularized sample treatment method using SA-QDs as a nano-fluorescent probe in cellular imaging and bio-labeling.

EFFECT OF LASER INPUT ENERGY ON AuSn_x INTERMETALLIC COMPOUNDS FORMATION IN SOLDER JOINTS WITH DIFFER-ENT THICKNESS OF Au SURFACE FINISH ON PADS

Formation of AuSnx intermetallic compounds （IMCs） in laser reflowed solder joints was investigated. The results showed that few IMCs formed at the solder/0. 1μm Au interface. Needlelike AuSn4 IMCs were observed at the solder/0.5μm Au interface. In Sn-2.0Ag-O,75Cu-3,0Bi and Sn-3.5Ag-O.75Cu solder joints, when the laser input energy was increased, AuSn4 IMCs changed .from a layer to needlelike or dendritic distribution at the solder/0.9μm Au interface. As for the solder joints with 4.0 μm thickness of Au surface finish on pads, AuSn4 , AuSnx, AuSn IMCs, and Au2Sn phases formed at the interface. Moreover, the content of AuSnx IMCs, such as, AuSn4 and AuSn2, which contained high Sn concentration, would become larger as the laser input energy increased. In the Sn-37Pb solder joints with 0.9 μm or 4.0 μm thickness of the Au surface finish on pads, AuSn4 IMCs were in netlike distribution. The interspaces between them were filled with Pb-rich phases.
