Expanding carbon neutrality strategies:Incorporating out-ofboundary emissions in city-level frameworks

Cities are increasingly vital in global carbon mitigation efforts,yet few have specifically tailored carbon neutrality ***,out-of-boundary indirect greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions,aside from those related to electricity and heat imports,are often overlooked in existing pathways,despite their significance in comprehensive carbon mitigation *** this gap,here we introduce an integrated analysis framework focusing on both production and consumption-related GHG *** to Wuyishan,a service-oriented city in Southern China,this framework provides a holistic view of a city's carbon neutrality pathway,from a full-scope GHG emission *** findings reveal the equal importance of carbon reduction within and outside the city's boundaries,with out-of-boundary emissions accounting for 42%of Wuyishan's present total GHG *** insight highlights the necessity of including these external factors in GHG accounting and mitigation strategy *** framework serves as a practical tool for cities,particularly in developing countries,to craft effective carbon neutrality roadmaps that encompass the full spectrum of GHG emissions.

Talent is essential for development,and career development strategies should prioritize talent cultivation(1–2).China’s CDC workforce comprises a diverse,multidisciplinary team of disease prevention and control *** workforce includes personnel from various CDC agencies,public medical institutions,township health centers,and community health service *** the development of this pool of talent is crucial for enhancing the quality of disease prevention and control systems and forms the foundation of a robust public health infrastructure(3).On December 25,2023,the State Council released the Guideline on Promoting the High-quality Development of Disease Prevention and Control,outlining a comprehensive strategy for strengthening the CDC’s talent *** paper analyzes this policy to clarify the historical context,principal actions,and future trajectory of workforce development within China’s CDC.

China’s Disease Control and Prevention(DCP)system has played a critical role in protecting population health and ensuring socioeconomic stability(1).Over the past two decades,China has made significant advancements in disease surveillance,response,and control,particularly following the 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)outbreak and the 2009 national healthcare reforms(2–3).These initiatives have substantially strengthened the national DCP system and led to improved public health outcomes,including the effective control of outbreaks such as avian influenza and coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Consequently,the incidence of major epidemics has declined markedly(1).

Calculation of Mass Concrete Temperature and Creep Stress under the Influence of Local air Heat Transfer

Temperature-induced cracking during the construction of mass concrete is a significant *** simulations of concrete temperature have primarily assumed that the concrete is placed in an open *** problem of heat transfer between the air and concrete has been simplified to the concrete’s heat dissipation ***,in the case of tubular concrete structures,where air inlet and outlet are relatively limited,the internal air temperature does not dissipate promptly to the external environment as it *** accurately simulate the temperature and creep stress in tubular concrete structures with enclosed air spaces during construction,we establish an air–concrete coupled heat transfer model according to the principles of conjugate heat transfer,and the accuracy of the model is verified through ***,we conduct a case study to analyze the impact of airflow within the ship lock corridor on concrete temperature and creep *** results demonstrate that enhancing airflow within the corridor can significantly reduce the maximum concrete *** with cases in which airflow within the corridor is neglected,the maximum concrete temperature and maximum tensile stress can be reduced by 12.5℃ and 0.7 MPa,respectively,under a wind speed of 4 m/*** results of the traditional calculation method are relatively close to those obtained at a wind speed of 1 m/***,the temperature reduction process in the traditional method is faster,and the method yields greater tensile stress values for the corridor location.

Mathematical physics equations are often utilized to describe physical phenomena in various fields of science and *** such equation is the Fourier equation,which is a commonly used and effective method for evaluating the effectiveness of temperature control measures for mass *** important measure for temperature control in mass concrete is the use of cooling water ***,the mismatch of grids between large-scale concrete models and small-scale cooling pipe models can result in a significant waste of calculation time when using the finite element ***,the temperature of the water in the cooling pipe needs to be iteratively calculated during the thermal transfer *** substructure method can effectively solve this problem,and it has been validated by *** Abaqus/Python secondary development technology provides engineers with enough flexibility to combine the substructure method with an iteration algorithm,which enables the creation of a parametric modeling calculation for cooling water *** paper proposes such a method,which involves iterating the water pipe boundary and establishing the water pipe unit substructure to numerically simulate the concrete temperature field that contains a cooling water *** verify the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method,two classic numerical examples were *** results showed that this method has good applicability in cooling pipe *** the value of the iteration parameterαis 0.4,the boundary temperature of the cooling water pipes can meet the accuracy requirements after 4∼5 iterations,effectively improving the computational ***,this approach provides a useful tool for engineers to analyze the temperature control measures accurately and efficiently for mass concrete,such as cooling water pipes,using Abaqus/Python secondary development.

Auto-tuning PVT data using multi-objective optimization:Application of NSGA-II algorithm

Reservoir simulation is known as perhaps the most widely used,accurate,and reliable method for field development in the petroleum *** integral part of a reliable reservoir simulation process is to consider robust and rigorous tuned EOS ***,EOS models are tuned iteratively through arduous workflows against experimental PVT ***,this comes with a number of drawbacks such as forcingly using weight factors,which upon alteration adversely affects the optimization *** objective of the current work is thus to introduce an auto-tune PVT matching tool using NSGA-II multi-objective *** order to illustrate the robustness of the presented technique,three different PVT samples are used,including two black-oil and one gas condensate *** utilize PengRobinson EOS during all the manual and auto-tuning *** of auto-tuned EOS-generated results with those of experimental and computed statistical error values for these samples clearly show that the proposed method is *** addition,the proposed method,contrary to the manual matching process,provides the engineer with several matched solutions,which allows them to select a match based on the engineering background to be best amenable to the problem at *** addition,the proposed technique is fast,and can output several solutions within less time compared to the traditional manual matching method.

Increasing realism in modelling energy losses in railway vehicles and their impact to energy-efficient train control

The reduction of energy consumption is an increasingly important topic of the railway ***-efficient train control(EETC)is one solution,which refers to mathematically computing when to accelerate,which cruising speed to hold,how long one should coast over a suitable space,and when to *** approaches in literature and industry greatly simplify a lot of nonlinear effects,such that they ignore mostly the losses due to energy conversion in traction components and *** fill this research gap,a series of increasingly detailed nonlinear losses is described and *** categorize an increasing detail in this representation as four *** study the impact of those levels of detail on the energy optimal speed *** do this,a standard approach based on dynamic programming is used,given constraints on total travel *** evaluation of multiple test cases highlights the influence of the dynamic losses and the power consumption of auxiliary components on railway trajectories,also compared to multiple *** results show how the losses can make up 50%of the total energy consumption for an exemplary *** them would though result in consistent but limited errors in the optimal ***,more complex trajectories can result in less energy consumption when including the complexity of nonlinear losses than when a simpler model is *** effects are stronger when the trajectory includes many acceleration and braking phases.

Estimating the effects of meteorology on PM_(2.5) reduction during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China

Particulate pollution was a critical challenge to the promise of good air quality during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,which took place from August 8th to *** ensure good air quality for the Games,several temporary emission control measures were implemented in Beijing and surrounding *** particulate matter concentration decreased significantly during the Olympic period;however,it is difficult to distinguish the effectiveness of those control measures since meteorology also affects ambient PM_(2.5) *** this work,a multiple linear regression model based on continuous field monitoring at a roadside site was conducted to evaluate the effects of meteorology and emission control measures on the reduction of PM_(2.5) during the 2008 Olympic *** hourly data set was divided into two time periods,the no control period,June 22nd to July 4th,and the control period,July 28th to August *** response variable was PM_(2.5) and the meteorology covariates used in the model were hourly temperature,dew point temperature,wind speed and *** direction was not a significant predictor of PM_(2.5) levels in either the control or the no control *** the meteorologically-based regression coefficients from the two time periods,meteorology was found to contribute to at least a 16%reduction in PM_(2.5) levels in the roadside microenvironment;while the pollution control measures contributed to at least a 43%reduction in PM_(2.5) levels.
