Coastal zones and many small islands are highly susceptible to sea-level rise(SLR). Coastal zones have a large exposed population and integrated high-value assets, and islands provide diverse ecosystem services to millions of people worldwide. The coastal zones and small islands affected by SLR are likely to suffer from submergence, flooding and erosion in the future. However, very few studies have addressed the heterogeneity in SLR changes and the potential risk to coastal zones and small islands. Here we used the mean sea level(MSL) derived from satellite altimetry data to analyse the trends and accelerations of SLRs along global coastal zones and small islands. We found that except for the Antarctic coastal zone, the annual MSL within 50 km of the coasts presented an increasing trend of 3.09 ± 0.13 mm a^-1 but a decreasing acceleration of -0.02 ± 0.02 mm a^-2 from 1993 to 2017. The highest coastal MSL trend of3.85 ± 0.60 mm a^-1 appeared in Oceania, and the lowest trend of 2.32 ± 0.37 mm a^-1 occured in North America. Africa, North America and South America showed acceleration trends, and Eurasia, Australia and Oceania had deceleration trends. Further, MSLs around global small islands reflected an increasing trend with a rate of 3.01 ± 0.16 mm a^-1 but a negative acceleration of -0.02 ± 0.02 mm a^-2. Regional heterogeneity in the trends and accelerations of MSLs along the coasts and small islands suggests that stakeholders should take discriminating precautions to cope with future disadvantageous impacts of the SLR.

This study aimed to model the kinetic of hydro-distillation of Aquilaria malaccensis leaves oil in order to understand and optimize the extraction process. In addition, this study, for the first time, aimed to identify the chemical compositions of the A. rnalaccensis leave-oil. By assessing both first-order kinetic model and the model of simultaneous washing and diffusion, the result indicated that the model of simultaneous washing and diffusion better describes the hydro-distillation mechanism of the essential oil from A. rnalaccensis leaves. The optimum time, solid to liquid ratio, and the heating power for extracting the highest amount of essential oil were found to be around 3 h, 1：10 （g. ml-1）, and 300 W respectively. Yellow essential oil with a strong smell and a yield of 0.05 v/w was extracted by hydro-distillation Clevenger apparatus. Chemical compounds of the essential oil were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy （GC/MS）, which resulted in identification of 42 compounds that constitute 93% of essential oil. Among the identified components, Pentadecanal （32.082%）, 9-Octadecenal, （Z）（15.894%）, and Tetradecanal （6.927%） were the major compounds. Considering the fact that all the identified major components possess pesticidal properties, A. malaccensis leaves can be regarded as a promising natural source for producing pesticides.

The application of metalDorganic frameworks(MOFs)is hindered by several crucial factors,including low photocatalytic efficiency,poor stability and challenges in *** this study,MIL-53(Fe)was grown in situ on a charcoal sponge(CS)with a large surface area,excellent mechanical properties,and high photocatalytic efficiency using a solvothermal method,thus addressing the above-mentioned shortcomings of MOF ***,CS/MIL-53(Fe)has an amazing light-harvesting capacity in the visible range,leading to a significant improvement in the utilization of *** results of the experiments indicate that CS/MIL-53(Fe)displays a higher photocatalytic activity(87%Cr(Ⅵ))when exposed to visible light than CS(58%)or MIL-53(Fe)(27%),attributing to the increased separation of photogenerated carriers.e-is the main reactive radical and dominates the photocatalytic reduction process,rooting from that e-can reduce Cr(Ⅵ)to low-toxicity Cr(Ⅲ).This study presents a novel method for constructing photocatalysts with large surface areas,superior mechanical characteristics,and enhanced photocatalytic ***,it achieves the resource utilization of agricultural and forestry waste.

In this paper, a discontinuous numerical model, namely SDDARF3D(three-dimensional spherical discontinuous deformation analysis for rock failure), is proposed for simulating the whole process of rock failure. Firstly, within the framework of the classical discontinuous deformation analysis(DDA) method, the formulation of three-dimensional spherical DDA(3D SDDA) is deduced; secondly, a bonding and cracking algorithm is constructed and the SDDARF3 D model is proposed; thirdly, corresponding VC++ calculation code is developed and some verification examples are calculated. The simulated results can intuitively reproduce the failure phenomena of rock mass, indicating that the proposed SDDARF3 D numerical model is correct and effective.

Lithium(Li)is an important energy metal in the 21st ***,the selective recovery of Li is still a big challenge,especially from acidic solutions with multiple metal ions *** we report a new ion pair induced mechanism for selectively extracting Li^(+)from acidic chloride solutions by tributyl phosphate(TBP).It is shown that the acidity and the chloride ions in the aqueous phase have great effects on the extraction of Li^(+).The FT-IR,UV-Vis and ESI-MS experiments provide solid evidence for the formation of ion-pair complex[Li(TBP)_n(H_(2)O)_(m)]^(+)[FeCl_(4)]^(-)(n-1,2,3;m-0,1)in the organic phase,which brings about the effective and efficient extraction of Li^(+).This mechanism can overcome the Hofmeister bias and allow for the selective extraction of Li^(+) from the extremely hydrophilic *** has also been proved that the loaded Li in TBP can be effectively stripped by concentrated HCl solution with a Li/Fe separation factor>*** understanding of the ion-pair transport mechanism is helpful for optimizing the recovery process or further advancing more efficient recovery techniques for Li from acidic liquor.

On the basis of results of relative subjects, the fossil planation surface has been discussed by the authors from the point of geomorphologic view. The discussion contents included the characteristic information, research methods, paleotopography (gradient and altitude) and other problems about fossil planation surface. The recognition and reconstruction of fossil planation surface mainly rely on the following characteristic information: (i) the character of erosion unconformity surface; (ii) the paleo-weathering crust and residual deposits; (iii) the paleo-karst and filled deposit in the paleo-karst under the unconformity surface, and (iv) the character and environment of sediment above the unconformity surface. According to the above-mentioned characteristic information, the authors recognized and reconstructed two stages of fossil planation surface on Pa-leo-land of North China and Yangtze Paleo-land. This paper discusses the important role that flux profile relations play in momentum flux, sensible heat flux, and latent heat flux simulations in CoLM （Common Land Model） and compares the application of three flux profile relation schemes in CoLM by means of the Loess Plateau Land-Atmosphere Interaction Pilot Experiment （LOPEX） of 2005. It reveals that the results simulated by the model barely changed in the original flux profile schemes of the models a^er eliminating the very stable condition and the very unstable condition, and there were only tiny changes in numerical values. This indicates that the corrected terms added to fm（ξm）,fh（ξh） were very tiny and can be ignored under very stable and very unstable circumstances. According to a comparison of the three flux profile relations, the simulation results were basically coherent by using any CoLM： the correlation coefficient of the simulation value and the observed value was 0.89, and this bears on the coherence with the numerical procedures for the flux pro- file relations under unstable circumstances. The simulation results were improved considerably by utilizing the Lobocki flux pro- file schemes, which numerical procedures under unstable circumstances differed significantly fi＇om other three flux profile schemes; in this case the correlation coefficient of the value of simulation and the observed value became 0.95. In the next itera- tion of this study, it will be of great importance for the development of the land surface process model to continue experimenting with the application of some novel flux profile schemes in the land surface process models in typical regions.

Pharmaceutical residues have become tightly controlled environmental contaminants in recent years, due to their increasing concentration in environmental components. This is mainly caused by their high level of production and everyday consumption. Therefore there is a need to apply new and sufficiently sensitive analytical methods, which can detect the presence of these contaminants even in very low concentrations. This study is focused on the application of a reliable analytical method for the analysis of 10 selected drug residues, mainly from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs （salicylic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, ctofibric acid, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, caffeine, naproxen, mefenamic acid, ketoprofen, and dicofenac）, in wastewaters and surface waters. This analytical method is based on solid phase extraction, derivatization by N-methyl-N-（trimethylsilyl）trifluoroacetamide （MSTFA） and finally analysis by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with Time-of-Flight mass spectrometric detection （GC×GC- TOF MS）. Detection limits ranged from 0.18 to 5 ng/L depending on the compound and selected matrix. The method was successfully applied for detection of the presence of selected pharmaceuticals in the Svratka River and in wastewater from the wastewater treatment plant in Brno-Modrice, Czech Republic. The concentration of pharmaceuticals varied from one to several hundreds of ng/L in surface water and from one to several tens of μg/L in wastewater.
