Estuarine environments are influenced by both river flows and oceanic tidal movement of water, sediment, and nutrients, often forming ecosystems that are rich in resources and biodiversity. The Yellow River once carried the world’s largest sediment load, but artificial structures have transformed its hydrodynamic processes. An annual Water-Sediment Regulation Scheme(WSRS) was introduced to flush accumulated sediment from the Xiaolangdi Reservoir, which provides flood control and water ***, the effect of the WSRS process on the runoff and sediment conditions, nutrients, and ecological environment of the Yellow River Estuary and adjacent ocean are not well understood. In the current study, a coupled hydrodynamic-nutrient-plankton ecosystem dynamics model(FVCOM-FABM-NPZD)was constructed to simulate changes in the ecological parameters and in the vertical response in the Yellow River Estuary before, during, and after the WSRS, This model also was used to quantify the effects of changes in the incoming material flux on the hydrodynamic and ecological environment of the estuary, using the Yellow River Xiaolangdi Reservoir water transfer and sand transfer as an example. The study found that the WSRS changed the spatial and temporal distribution of temperature, salinity,sediment, inorganic nitrogen, and phytoplankton in the Yellow River Estuary and adjacent waters. It also had a significant effect on the temperature, salinity, and ecology of the adjacent near-shore marine environment. The spatial and temporal responses of zooplankton and phytoplankton to the WSRS differed. Zooplankton showed a lag in response to the WSRS and were mainly influenced by temperature and phytoplankton. The phytoplankton concentration was positively influenced by inorganic nitrogen and negatively influenced by salinity and sediment. The couple of radiation with convection heating owned advantages of less energy utilization,healthier and more comfortable indoor ***,local thermal discomfort was often induced by large vertical temperature difference and radiation asymmetry *** work studied indoor thermal environment characteristics under different coupling ways of radiation and convection heating terminals through experiments and CFD *** studied five scenarios were denoted as:(Ⅰ)lateral air supply+adjacent side wall radiation,(Ⅱ)lateral air supply+opposite side wall radiation,(Ⅲ)lateral air supply+floor radiation,(Ⅳ)lateral air supply+adjacent side wall radiation+floor radiation,and(Ⅴ)lateral air supply+opposite side wall radiation+floor *** overall thermal comfort indices(including air diffusion performance index(ADPI),predicted mean vote(PMV),and predicted percent of dissatisfaction(PPD))and local thermal comfort indices under different scenarios were *** Scenarios Ⅰ-Ⅲ,the local dissatisfaction rates caused by vertical air temperature difference were 0.4%,0.1%,and 0.2%,respectively,which belonged to"A”class according to the ISO-7730 *** the vertical asymmetric radiation temperature of Scenario Ⅰ-Ⅱ was about 6.5℃ lower than that of Scenario Ⅲ-Ⅳ-Ⅴ.The ADPI for Scenarios Ⅲ-Ⅴ were about respectively 5.7%,16.7%,and 21.0%higher than that of Scenarios Ⅰ-Ⅱ,indicating that a large radiation area and radiation angle coefficient could reduce the discomfort caused by radiant temperature *** coupling mode improved local discomfort by decreasing vertical temperature difference and radiation asymmetry temperature wherefore improving the PMV from-1.6 *** lateral air supply coupled with asymmetric radiation heating could potentially improve the thermal comfort of occupied area,while the comprehensive effect of thermal environmental improvement,energy-saving,and cost-effectiveness needes to be further investigated.

The reduction of gained heat,heat peak shifting,and the mitigation of air temperature fluctuations are some desirable properties that are sought after in any thermal insulation *** cannot be overstated that these fac-tors,in addition to others,govern the performance of such systems thus their effect on indoor ambient *** effect of such systems extends also to Heating,Ventilation and Air-conditioning(HVAC)systems that are set up to operate optimally in certain *** literature shows that PCMs and natural materials such as wood-shavings can provide efficient passive insulation for buildings,it is evident that such approaches utilise methods that are of a degree of intricacy which require specialist knowledge and complex techniques,such as micro-encapsulation for *** technical and economic aspects in mind,an amalgam of PCM and wood-shavings has been created to be utilised as a feasible thermal *** amalgamation was performed in the simplest of methods,through submerging the wood shavings in *** experimental procedure was devised to test the thermal performance of the amalgam and compare this to the performance of the same un-amalgamated *** analysis revealed that no significant thermal gains would be expected from such ***,a significant reduction in the total weight of the insulation system would be achieved that,in this case,shown to be up to 20.94%.Thus,further reducing possible strains on structural elements due to the application of insulation on *** can be especially beneficial in vernacular architectural approaches where considerably large amounts and thicknesses of insulations are *** addition,cost reduction could be attained as wood shavings are significantly cheaper compared to the cost of PCMs.

A novel method for detecting early damage at the steel-concrete interface due to external loading based on AC impedance spectroscopy technology was ***,alkali pretreatment was introduced to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of the AC impedance ***,the AC impedance spectroscopy between the steel bar and concrete surface of different bonding positions was tested,and then the physical quantities reflecting the bonding damage condition were obtained by equivalent circuit *** debonding position calculation and AC conductive structure analysis indicate that the change of interface resistance and interface capacitance can seize the development of bonding damage during the loading *** the interface damage develops,obvious changes in interface resistance and interface capacitance are observed,and they cannot be recovered after unloading.

This essay begins with a reflection on what has been taught in architectural design since the turn of the twentieth century.I shall trace back to the two disciplinary foundations of the FrenchÉcole des Beaux-Arts-parti and poché-in the education of an architect in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.I shall then attempt to superimpose parti and pochéon a modern disciplinary framework,say that of mathematics,which leads to musings on a series of architectural problems that include pattern versus type,stability versus mobility,orthogonal versus oblique,confinement versus transparency,and aging versus metallic *** paradoxes,I suggest,demand the education of an architect to address both the instrumental pattern of a building configuration and the ambient felt qualities of a room,rather than vision alone.

The problem of finding stabilizing controllers for switched systems is an area of much research interest as conventional concepts from continuous time and discrete event dynamics do not hold true for these *** solutions have been proposed,most of which are based on finding the existence of a common Lyapunov function(CLF) or a multiple Lyapunov function(MLF) where the key is to formulate the problem into a set of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).An alternative method for finding the existence of a CLF by solving two sets of linear inequalities(LIs) has previously been *** method is seen to be less computationally taxing compared to methods based on solving *** substantiate this,the computational ability of three numerical computational solvers,LMI solver,cvx,and Yalmip,as well as the symbolic computational program Maple were tested.A specific switched system comprising four second-order subsystems was used as a test *** the obtained solutions,the validity of the controllers and the corresponding CLF was *** was found that all tested solvers were able to correctly solve the *** issue of rounding-off error in numerical computation based software is discussed in *** test revealed that the guarantee of stability became uncertain when the rounding off was at a different decimal *** use of different external solvers led to the same conclusion in terms of the stability of switched *** a result,a shift from using a conventional numerical computation based program to using computer algebra is suggested.
