背景血流动力学和全身氧输送的变化无法反映内脏低灌注，从而导致无法认识到对失血性休克的处理不足。液体复苏后扩容对改善失血性休克时全身和局部的氧供是必不可少的。我们假设，与传统的代血浆相比，应用少量的扩容剂7．5氯化钠／6％羟乙基淀粉（hydroxyethyl *** saline，HHES）溶液，可能提供较少的全身氧输送和胃血流灌注。我们为失血的狗进行临床上严重出血时常用的固定量液体单次输注，分别观察HHES、乳酸林格液（1actatedRinger，LR）和6％羟乙基淀粉（hydroxyethyl starch，HES）溶液对血管内扩容、早期全身氧合和胃灌注的影响。方法30只狗，出血30ml／kg，保持平均动脉压在40～50mmHg，持续45分钟后，分3组进行复苏：LR组（n=10），输注3倍出血量的液体；HES组（平均分子量130KDa，替代级0．4）（n=10），输注出血量等量的液体；HHES组（n=10），以4ml／kg的速度输注。测定血管内容量增加情况（用Evans蓝和血红蛋白稀释）、血流动力学、全身氧合、静动脉CO2分压差（Pv-aco2）和胃黏膜-动脉血CO2分压差（Pco2间隙）变化，测定时间点为基础值、出血45分钟后以及液体复苏5分钟、45分钟、90分钟时。结果由于HHES的高扩容效力增加了血容量，但它对血管内容量的扩张作用是各溶液中最小的（P〈0．05）。3种溶液对血流动力学影响相同，但相对于LR组和HES组，HHES组相混合静脉血Po，更低，全身氧合、Pv-aco2和胃黏膜Pco2间隙更大（P〈0．05）。结论对狗进行按血压调节的失血性休克和固定容量的复苏，尽管HHES有高效扩容作用，但相比LR和HES，由于输注量受限，它的血管内容量扩充能力较小，全身氧合和胃血流灌注较差。

Aromatics have a broad application in our everyday life ranging from plastics, coatings and fibres, to food and pharmaceuticals. To date the bulk of these aromatics is derived from naphtha-based pet-rochemistry. However, recent progress in the fermentative production of metabolites using renew-able resources and engineered microbes has enabled the production of bio-precursors, such as 4-amino benzoic acid (pABA) and 2-amino benzoic acid (oABA). In this work we explored the feasibility of Sandmeyer reactions for the conversion of pABA to terephthalic and oABA salicylic acid, providing two very important platform chemicals for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. We could demonstrate that both acids can be obtained from the amino benzoic acids derived from the shikimate pathway in microbes and plants. Good conversions could be achieved using Sandmeyer reactions at mild conditions with biodegradable reagents and without organic solvents.

In this paper, we combine polynomial functions, Generalized Estimating Equations, and bootstrap-based model selection to test for signatures of linear or nonlinear relationships between body surface temperature and ambient temperature in endotherms. Linearity or nonlinearity is associated with the absence or presence of cutaneous vasodilation and vasoconstriction, respectively. We obtained experimental data on body surface temperature variation from a mammalian model organism as a function of ambient temperature using infrared thermal imaging. The statistical framework of model estimation and selection successfully detected linear and nonlinear relationships between body surface temperature and ambient temperature for different body regions of the model organism. These results demonstrate that our statistical approach is instrumental to assess the complexity of thermoregulation in endotherms.

Natural extracellular matrices (ECMs) perform the tasks necessary for tissue formation, maintenance, regulation and function, providing a powerful means of controlling the biological performance of regenerative materials. In addition, biomedical materials have claimed attention because of the increased interest in tissue engineering materials for wound care and regenerative medicine. Moreover, the nanostructure and morphological similarities with collagen make BC attractive for cell immobilization, cell support and Natural Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Scaffolds. In this work, we present the extracellular matrix (ECM) using the bacterial cellulose (Nanoskin®) which regulates cell behavior by influencing cell proliferation, survival, shape, migration and differentiation. Bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified before the bacteria are inoculated for mimicking ECM to cells support and built new local material for wound healing. Chemical groups influences and thermal behavior in bacterial cellulose were analyzed using transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. Besides, In vivo analysis was evaluated with clinical study at Sharjah Kuwait Hospital.

Aphasic syndromes usually result from injuries to the dominant hemisphere of the brain. Despite the fact that localization of language functions shows little interindividual variability, several brain areas are simultaneously activated when language tasks are undertaken. Mechanisms of language recovery after brain injury to the dominant hemisphere seem to be relatively stereotyped, including activations of perilesional areas in the acute phase and of homologues of language areas in the non-dominant hemisphere in the subacute phase, later returning to dominant hemisphere activation in the chronic phase. Plasticity mechanisms reopen the critical period of language development, more specifically in what leads to disinhibition of the non-dominant hemisphere when brain lesions affect the dominant hemisphere. The non-dominant hemisphere plays an important role during recovery from aphasia, but currently available rehabilitation therapies have shown limited results for efficient language improvement. Large-scale randomized controlled trials that evaluate well-defined interventions in patients with aphasia are needed for stimulation of neuroplasticity mechanisms that enhance the role of the non-dominant hemisphere for language recovery. Ineffective treatment approaches should be replaced by more promising ones and the latter should be evaluated for proper application. The data generated by such studies could substantiate evidence-based rehabilitation strategies for patients with aphasia.
