The integration of digital technologies into oral health care is transforming the field, driving advancements in diagnostic precision, patient engagement, and access to care. This review evaluates the impact of mobile health (mHealth) applications, tele-dentistry, artificial intelligence (AI), wearable devices, and advanced imaging systems on modern dentistry. Synthesizing findings from 125 studies published between 2010 and 2024, the paper identifies key achievements, including improved patient compliance, enhanced diagnostic capabilities, and expanded access to care in underserved areas. Tele-dentistry has been pivotal in bridging geographical gaps, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, while AI tools have revolutionized diagnostics and personalized treatment planning. Wearable devices and mHealth applications have empowered patients with real-time feedback, fostering sustained adherence to oral hygiene practices. The review also highlights the potential of digital tools to reduce healthcare disparities and operational costs, paving the way for more equitable and efficient dental care. By outlining critical advancements and future directions, this paper underscores the transformative potential of digital health technologies in dentistry. It advocates for further research on data security, interoperability, and innovative applications of AI to maximize the benefits of these tools, ultimately shaping a more accessible and patient-focused oral health ecosystem.

In situ formed fluorescent gold nanoclusters inhibit hair follicle regeneration in oxidative stress microenvironment via suppressing NFκB signal pathway

Skins expose to kinds of risk factors for damage, such as the hormone drugs, skin care products and ultraviolet radiation, which is accompanied by the production of excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)and eventually leads to hypertrichosis. This skin disease is not aesthetically pleasing and even causes psychological and spiritual problems such as inferiority, anxiety and irritability. Current therapies are limited and often unsatisfactory, such as pharmacological and physical therapies, which have adverse effects and cause the irreversible destruction of hair follicles. Gold nanoclusters have good biocompatibility and their biosynthesis in vivo is responsive to oxidative stress microenvironment(OSM), which could be a safe and effective drug for ROS-induced skin injury. In our study, we demonstrated that zero valence fluorescent gold nanoclusters(FGNCs) were in situ biosynthesized in the plucking-induced damaged skin but not in the normal skin after the administration of gold precursors(+3), while FGNCs inhibited hair follicle regeneration by negatively regulating nuclear transcription factor kappa B(NFκB)-mediated inflammatory response signaling pathway(NFκB/tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) axis). This OSM-responsive in situ biosynthesis method is facile and safe and holds great promise for curing hypertrichosis associated with skin dermatitis and injury.

Focusing on the specific biological process, the post translational modification is needed. Here, the authors used the bioinformatics study to find the phosphorylation sites within the Ebola virus nucleoprotein and could identify many new sites.

Background::Receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1), a serine/threonine protein kinase, is mainly activated by pro-inflammatory cytokines and pathogens, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), and its activation could result in apoptosis, necroptosis, or inflammation. This study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a potent and selective inhibitor of RIPK1, SIR1-365, in hospitalized patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).Methods::This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, phase 1b study screened patients from December 18, 2020 until November 27, 2021. Adults hospitalized with severe COVID-19 (diagnosed ≤2 weeks before screening) were randomized 1:1 to receive oral placebo or SIR1-365 100 mg three times daily for ≤14 consecutive days, with standard-of-care. The primary objective was to evaluate SIR1-365 safety and tolerability. Secondary objectives included an assessment of SIR1-365 efficacy. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize safety. The study was not powered for efficacy testing. Relevant inferential statistical tests were used to aid interpretation of differences in clinical ***::Forty-five patients were randomized, 42 were treated. Eighteen patients experienced treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) and 7 patients were ≥ grade 3. Fewer SIR1-365-treated vs. placebo-treated patients experienced TEAEs (30.4% vs. 57.9%) and serious TEAEs (13.0% vs. 26.3%) within 28 days of the first dose. There were no serious treatment-related TEAEs or deaths. Compare to placebo, SIR1-365 significantly increased arterial oxygenation from baseline to day 7 (least-squares mean change [standard error]: 109.4 [26.4] vs. -24.2 [23.6];P=0.0095), significantly reduced hospitalization duration after treatment (mean±standard deviation: [4.7±3.7] days vs. [8.6±5.6] days;P=0.0145) and respiratory failure incidence (8.3% vs. 38.1%;two-sided P=0.0291

Objective:This study aimed to investigate the effect of empowerment-based interventions on selfefficacy and self-care capacity among adults with sickle cell disease(SCD).Methods:A randomized control trial was conducted[NCT06296654].A total of 76 patients were recruited by using a cluster sampling technique in the two health centers in Bahrain from February to May 2022 and randomly allocated to the intervention group(n=38)or control group(n=38).The intervention group received the empowerment-based intervention implemented through structured small-group discussion sessions,individualized consultations(5A model:assess,advise,agree,assist,and arrange),and follow-up sessions,while the control group received routine health *** Sickle Cell Self-Efficacy Scale(SCSES)and the Appraisal of the Self-care Agency Scale-Revised(ASA-R)were measured at baseline and one month after the intervention among two groups of ***:A total of 68 patients completed the study(36 patients in the intervention group and 32 patients in the control group).After the intervention,the score of SCSES in the intervention group was 37.0(35.0,39.8)higher than the control group 28.0(25.2,32.0)(U=-6.121,Pcare capacity among patients with SCD.
