The aim of this study is to analyze the simulated behavior of universal spacer in Dynesys dynamic stabilization system inserted in human vertebra. Dynesys, so-called "Dynamic neutralization system for the spine", dynamic stabilization system is a new concept in the surgical treatment of lower back pain recently. universal spacer used as flexible material is to stabilize the spine and the material property of universal spacer is polycarbonate urethane. universal spacer may apply different kinematic behaviors at implanted level in vertebra. spinal range of motion(sROM) of inter-vertebra with installed Dynesys dynamic stabilization system was studied using Adams+LifeMOD as simulation software package. The vertebra model was set up to closely resemble the in-vivo conditions. Inter-vertebra rotations were measured by post processor of Adams and compared with the intact valu.s. sROMs of the flexion, extension, lateral bending, and axial rotation of human virtual models were measured, where three spinal fixation systems such as rigid system, Dynesys system, and fused system were installed. As a result, the value of sROM is decreased in flexion-extension and lateral bending when the spinal fixation system is implanted. The movement of Dynesys system is similar to that of intact model by allowing the movement of lumbar. This means that the Dynesys system is proved to be safe and effective in the treatment of u.s.able spinal condition.

Longitudinal association of gonorrhea and bacterial vaginosis with repeat chlamydia diagnoses among u.s. army women: A retrospective cohort analysis

Background: Historically, sexually transmitted infections have affected the health of the u.s. military. To determine whether gonorrhea, bacterial vaginosis, genital herpes, and trichomoniasis are predictors of repeat chlamydia diagnoses among u.s. army women, medical data reported into the Defense Medical surveillance system during the 2006–2012 period were ***: For all inpatient and outpatient medical records, the first and second International Classification of Diseases,version 9(ICD-9) diagnostic positions were reviewed for each chlamydia case to determine the occurrence of repeat diagnoses. The Andersen-Gill regression model, an extension of the Cox model for multiple failure-time data, was used to study associations between predictors and repeat chlamydia ***: Among 28,201 women with a first chlamydia diagnosis, 5145(18.2%), 1163(4.1%), 267(0.9%), and 88(0.3%)had one, two, three, and four or more repeat diagnoses, respectively. Overall, the incidence of repeat chlamydia was8.31 cases per 100 person-years, with a median follow-up time of 3.39 years. Gonorrhea(hazard ratio(HR)=1.58, 95%CI: 1.44–1.73) and bacterial vaginosis(HR=1.40, 95% CI: 1.09–1.79) were significant predictors for repeat *** estimated hazard ratios were attenuated, but remained significant, after controlling for age, race/ethnicity,marital status, and military rank. No significant association was found for genital herpes(HR=1.13, 95% CI: 0.55–2.29)and trichomoniasis(HR=1.43, 95% CI: 0.43–4.68).Conclusions: This large cohort study suggests that gonorrhea and bacterial vaginosis were associated with repeat chlamydia diagnoses among u.s. army women. These findings can be used in formulating new interventions to prevent repeat chlamydia diagnoses.

This paper presents a novel enhanced human-robot interaction system based on model reference adaptive control. The presented method delivers guaranteed stability and task performance and has two control loops. A robot-specific inner loop, which is a neuroadaptive controller, learns the robot dynamics online and makes the robot respond like a prescribed impedance model. This loop uses no task information, including no prescribed trajectory. A task-specific outer loop takes into account the human operator dynamics and adapts the prescribed robot impedance model so that the combined human-robot system has desirable characteristics for task performance. This design is based on model reference adaptive control, but of a nonstandard form. The net result is a controller with both adaptive impedance characteristics and assistive inpu.s.that augment the human operator to provide improved task performance of the human-robot team. simulations verify the performance of the proposed controller in a repetitive point-to-point motion task. Actual experimental implementations on a PR2 robot further corroborate the effectiveness of the approach.

Plasmonic photocatalysis represents the synergetic union of two active fields of research:plasmonic effects in illuminated metallic nanoparticles and catalytic effects in tailored metallic ***,metallic nanoparticles that excel for one application are limited for the other,but recent developments have shown that desirable catalytic behaviors,such as reduced activation barriers and improved product selectivity,derive from nonthermal behaviors uniquely produced by this *** examining such findings,this review will address a specific debate that has recently surfaced:what is the relative degree of contributions of thermal and nonthermal effects in plasmonic photocatalysis?We demonstrate the importance of correctly accounting for thermal effects before characterizing nonthermal *** show that another synergy occu.s.these desirable nonthermal behaviors have a temperature dependence,and the resulting temperature-dependent reaction rates far exceed what can be explained from purely thermal effects ***,the synergy of plasmonic photocatalysis offers an exciting new contribution to the qu.s. for efficient,selective,sustainable methods for chemical synthesis and energy conversion.

Background: The diagnosis of drug-induced autoimmune hepatitis(DIAIH) and its differentiation from idiopathic autoimmune hepatitis(AIH) is challenging. This study aimed to differentiate DIAIH from AIH by comparing the biochemical changes, histological features, and frequencies of CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25+/-regulatory T cells(Tregs) in liver tissu.s.or peripheral blood ***: A total of 15 DIAIH patients and 24 AIH patients who underwent liver biopsies at initial presentation were enrolled in this study. The liver histological changes were assessed by HE staining. The phenotypic recognition and distribution of CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25+/-Tregs in liver tissu.s.were evaluated by single/double immunostains in serial sections. The CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25+/-Tregs in peripheral blood were analyzed by flow ***: The median valu.s.of ALT and AsT were 404.50 u/L and 454.10 u/L in DIAIH patients and309.50 u/L and 315.00 u/L in AIH patients, respectively. More importantly, for the first time we found that patients with DIAIH had higher levels of serum ALT and AsT, more severe degree of lobular inflammation,higher frequencies of zone 3 necrosis and higher number of lobular CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25~-Tregs compared with AIH(P urthermore, there were positive correlations in DIAIH between the degree of lobular inflammation and either the AsT/ALT level or the number of lobular CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25~-Tregs(P uency of peripheral blood CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25+/-Tregs were not significantly different between DIAIH and ***: The differences of ALT, AsT and the number of lobular CD4~+Foxp3~+CD25~-Tregs between patients with DIAIH and those with AIH are clinically helpful in differentiating these two diseases in their early stage.
