In order to improve the mecha.ica. properties.of polypyrrole, compos.tes.were ma.e by electropolymerizing polypyrrole in a.polyu.etha.e ma.rix. Polypyrrole/polyu.etha.e (PPY/Pu. compos.te films.conta.ning CLO_4^-, BF_4^- or CH_3-C_6H_4-s._3^- cou.ter ions.were ma.e in a.va.iety of s.lvent s.s.ems.a.d cha.a.terized by s.M, electronic condu.tivity, FTIR, a.d mecha.ica. properties. Compos.te films.s.owing mu.h grea.er fiexibility tha. pu.e polypyrrole were obta.ned, bu. their electronic condu.tivities.were s.0}s.a.tia.ly lower. Mea.0}0}ed eondu.tivities.ra.ged from 0.001 to 8 s.cm, tens.le s.rengths.from 44 to 592 ps., a.d elonga.ion to fa.lu.e from 3 to 70%.
