During the second half of the twentieth century, Soviet scientists were among the world leaders in the theory and geometry of gearing or the theoretical fundamentals of designing gears and gear-cutting tools. The authors of the current paper review works related to the development of the theory of gearing （TG） written in Russian from the mid-1930s to the present. Overall, the review covers more than 400 publications of nearly 200 authors （among more than 1000 studied works）. This review involves some works on gear strength and accuracy to attract more experts. This paper presents a short list of works from the seventeenth century to the nineteenth century and discusses the basic concepts of the TG. This paper also includes a review of more than 160 papers in Russian for the period of 1935-1975, which is the ＂golden age＂ of the TG. The main features and achievements during this period are also considered. The distinctive feature of this review is the use of diagrams that visually present TG experts and the dates and themes of their published works. The diagrams also show the following aspects： 1） The most popular and important themes in a specific period, 2） the most important publications on the themes of interest to readers, and 3） the direction of the works and scope of interests of every researcher.

Variational Principle in the Quantum Statistical Theory

In the present paper, a generalization of the method of partial summation of the expansion of the thermodynamical potential is proposed. This generalization allows one to obtain the corresponding equations for higher-order correlation matrices, as well as to formulate the variational method for their solution. We show that correlation matrices of equilibrium quantum system satisfy a variational principle for thermodynamic potential which is functional of these matrices that provides a thermodynamic consistency of the theory. This result is similar to a variational principle for correlation functions of classical systems.

In this study,a sandwich-type uranium(Ⅵ)-containing silicotungstate KNa11H2(H2O)30[Na(UO2)(SiW9O34)]2·8H2O(1)with new three-dimensional(3D)structure was synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared,Raman,solid-state ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflection spectra,thermogravimetric analysis and powder X-ray *** crystal analysis revealed that the Na(I)-H2O clusters in 1 showed a two-dimensional structure similar to(4,4)-network and resulted in the formation of a new 3D structure of *** addition,it was notable that 1 presented excellent catalytic activity for the synthesis of substituted phenylsulfonyl-1H-pyrazoles via the cyclization reaction of 1,3-diketones with various substituted benzenesulfonyl hydrazides.

Cytomorphological and genetic indicators in the early ontogenesis of the wild and farmed broad whitefish(Coregonus nasus)

The qualitative and quantitative composition of primordial germ cells(PGCs)and the genetic variability of embryos of the Coregonus nasus from the Ob river basin and domesticated population breeding outside the natural areal was *** the broad whitefish,typical,binuclear,polymorphic nuclei cells,as well as PGCs represented primary gonocytes during embryogenesis in *** hatching larvae PGCs mitoses were noted only in domesticated *** genetic variability of embryos of the broad whitefish was studied by polymerase chain reaction of inter simple sequence repeats(ISSR-PCR).The high polymorphism of the broad whitefish cultured population was *** proportion of polymorphic bands was 89.4%,Nei’s genetic diversity was *** of the domesticated broad whitefish did not affect the overall level of polymorphism of neutral DNA *** findings suggest the preservation of cytomorphological and genetic diversity in *** embryo from different sources.

Functional Conjugation of the Different Regulatory Responses to the Stress Stimuli in Healthy Human Subjects

Present article discusses the physiological mechanisms of the state employees adaptation during active training in temporary groups. It is suggested that adaptive mechanisms to adverse effects may be studied basing on the concept of functional isomorphism of the psychic and immune systems. Adaptive mechanisms were studied through the monitoring of the stress factors’ impact upon the law enforcement officers when training outside the places of permanent deployment. The specific purpose of present study was to evaluate the physiological indicators of the psychic, immune and endocrine systems dynamics at different stages of adaptation of the live organism to a stressful situation, hoping to get better insight into possible relations between psychic and immune domains. Through monitoring of the dynamics of the endocrine and immune responses to the psychic stimuli, it was possible to correlate the stages of the stress onset to the phases of specific immune reactions. Strong correlations between the parameters characterizing activation of the psychic and immune responses support the hypothesis of the presence of “strong cooperation” between psychic and immune domains. It supports earlier hypothesis that we are monitoring different manifestations of the functioning of a complex inseparable psycho-immune meta-system.

In cryolithozone conditions the control facilities a three-dimensional temperature mode of a place of crossing by the road embankment cross channel of various assignment for maintenance of structure stability are considered. The management is carried out through regulation by conditions of heat exchange on borders of a structure and in a ground massif. The software complex of thermal and mechanical behaviour computer modeling of structures considered class is created for the decision of control facilities designing tasks. The results of computing experiments show efficiency of application of such means, including as compensatory measures for maintenance of a considered structure stability at possible of a climate warming.

Active-Layer Soil Moisture Content Regional Variations in Alaska and Russia by Ground-Based and Satellite-Based Methods, 2002 through 2014

Soil moisture is a vital physical parameter of the active-layer in permafrost environments, and associated biological and geophysical processes operative at the microscopic to hemispheric spatial scales and at hourly to multi-decadal time scales. While?in-situ?measurements can give the highest quality of information on a site-specific basis, the vast permafrost terrains of North America and Eurasia require space-based techniques for assessments of cause and effect and long-term changes and impacts from the changes of permafrost and the active-layer. Satellite-based 6.925 and 10.65 GHz sensor algorithmic retrievals of soil moisture by Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-Earth Observation System (AMSR-E) onboard NASA-Aqua and follow-on AMSR2 onboard JAXA-Global Change Observation Mission—Water-1 are ongoing since July 2002. Accurate land-surface temperature and vegetation parameters are critical to the success of passive microwave algorithmic retrieval schemes. Strategically located soil moisture measurements are needed for spatial and temporal co-location evaluation and validation of the space-based algorithmic estimates. We compare on a daily basis ground-based (subsurface-probe) 50- and 70-MHz radio-frequency soil moisture measurements with NASA- and JAXA-algorithmic retrieval passive microwave retrievals. We find improvements in performance of the JAXA-algorithm (AMSR-E reprocessed and AMSR2 ongoing) relative to the earlier NASA-algorithm version. In the boreal forest regions, accurate land-surface temperatures and vegetation parameters are still needed for algorithmic retrieval success. Over the period of AMSR-E retrievals, we find evidence of at the high northern latitudes of growing terrestrial radio-frequency interference in the 10.65 GHz channel soil moisture content. This is an important error source for satellite-based active and passive microwave remote sensing soil moisture retrievals in Arctic regions that must be addressed.
