Cervical dystonia (CD) is a condition that typically presents with cervical muscle spasm, producing head tilt and cervical rotation. CD is most often idiopathic, however, in a small number of patients, CD occurs within one day to one year after mild to severe trauma. This type of CD is further classified as posttraumatic CD. OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) injections are considered to be a controversial treatment for posttraumatic CD and have produced variable result. This report describes the case of a 32-year-old female presenting with a two year history of posttraumatic CD and associated head, neck, and shoulder pain after obtaining a severe head injury during a motorcycle accident. OnabotulinumtoxinA was used to successfully treat her posttraumatic CD muscle spasms and associated chronic pain. Three months after her first and second ONA treatments, the patient reported at least 50% improvement in her overall pain symptoms and a noticeable reduction in cervical paraspinal muscle spasms.

Background A number of studies have examined the association between estrogen receptor alpha （ESR-a） gene polymorphisms and bone mineral density （BMD）, but previous studies of ESR-a gene Xbal （rs9340799） and Pvull （rs2234693） polymorphisms have been hampered by small sample size, regional restrictions and inconclusive results. Thus a meta-analysis is needed to assess their pooled effects. Methods This study reviewed all published articles indexed in Pubmed using the keywords in the title or abstract. All data were extracted independently by two reviewers using a standard form, the studies were meta-analyzed and minor discrepancies were resolved by authors＇ discussion. Results Twenty seven eligible studies involving 8467 women and 2032 men were identified. The Xbal and Pvull polymorphisms were significantly associated with BMD of the lumbar spine. XX and PP homozygotes had a protective effect in comparison with carriers of the x and p alleles, the effects were more significant in premenopausal women or Western women. At the femoral neck, the results were different. XX served as a protective factor in postmenopausal women, Western women, Western postmenopausal women, and men, while PP was likely to serve as a risk factor in Eastern women, Eastern postmenopausal women, and men. Conclusions The Xbal polymorphism is correlated to BMD at diverse skeletal sites. PP had a protective role for the lumbar spine but might be a risk factor for the femoral neck.

Background and Objective: Anma is a traditional Japanese bodywork therapy that has not been widely known and used in the West. There have been only a few Anma studies published in English journals. To study the effect of Anma (traditional Japanese massage) among participants who have neck and shoulder stiffness symptoms (so-called Katakori, in Japanese). Methods: The study participants consisted of seventy-seven (Study 1), thirteen (Study 2), and twenty (Study 3) adults with “Katakori” symptoms. The research design is as follows: (Study1) Randomized, Parallel-Group, Controlled Trial. (Study 2) Crossover Clinical Trial. (Study 3) Randomized, Parallel-Group, Controlled Trial. And we conducted Anma treatment for 45 minutes (treatment) or rest in lying position for 45 minutes (Control). Results: In study 1, the symptom of “Katakori” was relieved after Anma treatment in Anma group (p d: 2.2). There was a significant interaction between the Anma group and the control group (p treatment. There was a significant interaction between the Anma group and the control group (p = 0.022). In study 3, the symptom of “Katakori” was relieved after Anma treatment in the treatment group. There were no significant interactions between the groups in VAS and MBV values. Discussion and Conclusions: The study demonstrated that Anma therapy decreases “Katakori” symptoms while increasing MBV in the shoulder region.

BACKGROUND Cancer of unknown primary(CUP)is a histological proven malignant tumor whose origin cannot be detected despite careful *** cervical lymph node metastases in CUP(80%)will originate from head and neck sites,and 15%show infiltration of squamous carcinoma *** survival rates of CUP are poor:The 5-year-survival rate ranges from 10%to 15%.First-line treatment recommendation for advanced,inoperable squamous cell carcinoma of head/neck(HNSCC)was cetuximab plus platinum-fluorouracil chemotherapy until recently,when checkpoint inhibitors proved clinically beneficial *** SUMMARY Here,we report a case of a 42-year-old female patient with cervical and abdominal lymph node and distant bone metastases of an occult primary of the head and neck(squamous cell carcinoma,human papillomavirus positive).The cancer was diagnosed during pregnancy 10 years ago,and after giving birth,the patient was treated with cetuximab plus platinum-fluorouracil chemotherapy achieving complete remission(CR).CR lasted 26 mo when new metastases(abdominal lymph node,lumbar vertebral body)*** manifestations were *** then on,the patient has not received any further treatment,and her disease has remained *** years after the initial cancer diagnosis,the patient is still alive and in good health,representing an exceptional case of *** This case illustrates the exceptional clinical course and benefits of combined therapy approaches in advanced metastatic HNSCC with occult primary.
