Research on Object Detection and Combination Clustering for Railway Switch Machine Gap Detection

Turnouts and switch machines play a crucial role in facilitating train line operations and establishing routes, making them vital for ensuring the safety and efficiency of railway transportation. Through the gap detection system of switch machines, the real-time working status of turnouts and switch machines on railway sites can be quickly known. However, due to the challenging working environment and demanding conversion tasks of switch machines, the current gap detection system has often experienced the issues of fault detection. To address this, this study proposes an automatic gap detection method for railway switch machines based on object detection and combination clustering. Firstly, a lightweight object detection network, specifically the MobileNetV3-YOLOv5s model, is used to accurately locate and extract the focal area. Subsequently, the extracted image undergoes preprocessing and is then fed into a combination clustering algorithm to achieve precise segmentation of the gap area and background,the algorithm consists of simple linear iterative clustering(SLIC), Canopy and kernel fuzzy c-means clustering(KFCM). Finally, the Fisher optimal segmentation criterion is utilized to divide the data sequence of pixel values, determine the classification nodes and calculate the gap size. The experimental results obtained from switch machine gap images captured in various scenes demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of accurately locating focal areas, efficiently completing gap image segmentation with a segmentation accuracy of 93.55%, and swiftly calculating the gap size with a correct rate of 98.57%. Notably, the method achieves precise detection of gap sizes even after slight deflection of the acquisition camera, aligning it more closely with the actual conditions encountered on railway sites.

Monte Carlo Simulation-Based Robust Workflow Scheduling for Spot Instances in Cloud Environments

When deploying workflows in cloud environments,the use of Spot Instances(SIs)is intriguing as they are much cheaper than on-demand ***,Sls are volatile and may be revoked at any time,which results in a more challenging scheduling problem involving execution interruption and hence hinders the successful handling of conventional cloud workflow scheduling *** some scheduling methods for Sls have been proposed,most of them are no more applicable to the latest Sls,as they have evolved by eliminating bidding and simplifying the pricing *** study focuses on how to minimize the execution cost with a deadline constraint when deploying a workflow on volatile Sls in cloud *** on Monte Carlo simulation and list scheduling,a stochastic scheduling method called MCLS is devised to optimize a utility function introduced for this *** the Monte Carlo simulation framework,MCLS employs sampled task execution time to build solutions via deadline distribution and list scheduling,and then returns the most robust solution from all the candidates with a specific evaluation mechanism and selection *** results show that the performance of MCLS is more competitive comparedwithtraditionalalgorithms.

A Novel Locomotion Rule Rmbedding Long Short-Term Memory Network with Attention for Human Locomotor Intent Classification Using Multi-Sensors Signals

Locomotor intent classification has become a research hotspot due to its importance to the development of assistive robotics and wearable *** work have achieved impressive performance in classifying steady locomotion ***,it remains challenging for these methods to attain high accuracy when facing transitions between steady locomotion *** to the similarities between the information of the transitions and their adjacent steady ***,most of these methods rely solely on data and overlook the objective laws between physical activities,resulting in lower accuracy,particularly when encountering complex locomotion modes such as *** address the existing deficiencies,we propose the locomotion rule embedding long short-term memory(LSTM)network with Attention(LREAL)for human locomotor intent classification,with a particular focus on transitions,using data from fewer sensors(two inertial measurement units and four goniometers).The LREAL network consists of two levels:One responsible for distinguishing between steady states and transitions,and the other for the accurate identification of locomotor *** classifier in these levels is composed of multiple-LSTM layers and an attention *** introduce real-world motion rules and apply constraints to the network,a prior knowledge was added to the network via a rule-modulating *** method was tested on the ENABL3S dataset,which contains continuous locomotion date for seven steady and twelve transitions *** results showed that the LREAL network could recognize locomotor intents with an average accuracy of 99.03%and 96.52%for the steady and transitions states,*** is worth noting that the LREAL network accuracy for transition-state recognition improved by 0.18%compared to other state-of-the-art network,while using data from fewer sensors.

Improving Network Availability through Optimized Multipath Routing and Incremental Deployment Strategies

In pursuit of enhancing the Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)energy efficiency and operational lifespan,this paper delves into the domain of energy-efficient routing ***,the limited energy resources of Sensor Nodes(SNs)are a big challenge for ensuring their efficient and reliable *** data gathering involves the utilization of a mobile sink(MS)to mitigate the energy consumption problem through periodic network *** mobile sink(MS)strategy minimizes energy consumption and latency by visiting the fewest nodes or predetermined locations called rendezvous points(RPs)instead of all cluster heads(CHs).CHs subsequently transmit packets to neighboring *** unique determination of this study is the shortest path to reach *** the mobile sink(MS)concept has emerged as a promising solution to the energy consumption problem in WSNs,caused by multi-hop data collection with static *** this study,we proposed two novel hybrid algorithms,namely“ Reduced k-means based on Artificial Neural Network”(RkM-ANN)and“Delay Bound Reduced kmeans with ANN”(DBRkM-ANN)for designing a fast,efficient,and most proficient MS path depending upon rendezvous points(RPs).The first algorithm optimizes the MS’s latency,while the second considers the designing of delay-bound paths,also defined as the number of paths with delay over bound for the *** methods use a weight function and k-means clustering to choose RPs in a way that maximizes efficiency and guarantees network-wide *** addition,a method of using MS scheduling for efficient data collection is *** simulations and comparisons to several existing algorithms have shown the effectiveness of the suggested methodologies over a wide range of performance indicators.

XRL-SHAP-Cache:an explainable reinforcement learning approach for intelligent edge service caching in content delivery networks

Content delivery networks(CDNs) play a pivotal role in the modern internet infrastructure by enabling efficient content delivery across diverse geographical regions. As an essential component of CDNs, the edge caching scheme directly influences the user experience by determining the caching and eviction of content on edge servers. With the emergence of 5G technology, traditional caching schemes have faced challenges in adapting to increasingly complex and dynamic network environments. Consequently, deep reinforcement learning(DRL) offers a promising solution for intelligent zero-touch network governance. However, the blackbox nature of DRL models poses challenges in understanding and making trusting decisions. In this paper,we propose an explainable reinforcement learning(XRL)-based intelligent edge service caching approach,namely XRL-SHAP-Cache, which combines DRL with an explainable artificial intelligence(XAI) technique for cache management in CDNs. Instead of focusing solely on achieving performance gains, this study introduces a novel paradigm for providing interpretable caching strategies, thereby establishing a foundation for future transparent and trustworthy edge caching solutions. Specifically, a multi-level cache scheduling framework for CDNs was formulated theoretically, with the D3QN-based caching scheme serving as the targeted interpretable model. Subsequently, by integrating Deep-SHAP into our framework, the contribution of each state input feature to the agent's Q-value output was calculated, thereby providing valuable insights into the decision-making process. The proposed XRL-SHAP-Cache approach was evaluated through extensive experiments to demonstrate the behavior of the scheduling agent in the face of different environmental *** results demonstrate its strong explainability under various real-life scenarios while maintaining superior performance compared to traditional caching schemes in terms of cache hit ratio, quality of service(QoS),a
